Indeed. The song is sung by singers whose lineage runs all the way to the mughals and whose ancestors sang in courts of Mughals. And they are singing of kangana (bracelets) and playing holi with their companions and the fun of colors and romance.
Oh my god.... what i just watched? Is there any better music than this? I watched this song repeatedly over and over again and can do this whole day.... what a great artists.... Please accept my sincere respect...... from Nepal...
Being a music lover and a musician, I have to say this track is mesmerizing in all respects. Being a Flamenco Guitarist myself, I love the old school Flamenco music. Flamenco being a Spanish artform and also, I am into Indian Classical music. listening to music ranging from ustad bade ghulam ali khan sahab to covering raags by some of the greatest Indian Classical musicians of the 19th and 20th century. I have been around qawwali since I was 5 years old. my father used to do mehfils and qawwalis and urs Sharif in our home. The reason I say all this is when I was small I used to see people whirling to the kalam in the qawwali. which I think is called "Raksh" a trance like state where you forget you have existence. having been in that state myself, I can say it is other worldly. Anyways being 39 now I realize that the old classical and qawwali music had layers of spirituality in them. It is a perfect blend of sufi poetry and music which now a days is missing but I feel that spirituality and beauty in this track. Arranged by rohail hyatt bhai, he is a genius in himself and proof is this track that he has arranged. This track never gets old when I listen to it but in fact it gets fresh. everyone should watch rohail bhai's lecture at Harvard. you will know about his knowledge and genius. Fareed Ayaz & Abu Muhammad group is amazing as always. We all need to cherish this beauty.

That´s just how it happens here again many decades after. I do not know a word from this Urdu..Punjab...Hindi..i don´t know... lol...but I love. The musicians, the devotion, the melodies, the technical skills, the charisma from the artists ...the midas touch of Roha....wow...everything works as a whole of fantastic performance independent from cultural and religious differences. You start with an appreciation of a great jugal-bandi that slowly takes you to a ride which is gradually unfolding itself to become a journey, and BAM!! At 4:34 you fall into a state of trance where the worldly concepts of Time, Space or Reality don't exist, a multi-dimensional world where everything is exploding into colours and lights. There, you are, neither sitting nor standing nor lying, you are levitating into a infinite space, and feeling all the colourful chaos happening around you. The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a great work of fiction with a unique prose style. The film was decent enough but inevitably fell short of the book . This musical performance during the opening action/credits made a huge impression on me and I cant stop listening to it!

In Hindustani classical music, the lyrics have the list importance. It may be from any of 1600 + language or even a foreign language like here they have a mix of at least 3 Indian languages with the Persian language. Sometimes you can find 3 different singers singing entirely three different songs in three different languages simultaneously. The art of rendering the particular RAAG (The tune) is main. And all different Raagas have a different mood, time and occasion. Here they were singing "Malkauns", which is dedicated to the eternity of the "Time" as a dimension. Basically, it soothes down one's nerve, when he is made to understand how tiny I am or my ego is in front of the endless time. It reminds us, that we all are created from time and go back to the time, and I am not even a blink in the timeline of the only eternal dimension, that is time.

My parents and I watched 'The Reluctant Fundermentalist' where if I recall correctly this song is the main feature in the introduction of the film. Since watching the film my father passed away and this song helps me remember him. As a result I can only thank them for such an outstanding performance.

Can I also just add how great Pakistani artists are?! I wish art helps our nations build bridges instead of further dividing us.

Sudip Basu yeah in fact this is the only thing we should proud of but still music is considered as sin full act declares by the religious clerics .insted of all this bull they are producing sound full music .yeah we are proud of it ☝️️
You know, once you start getting involved in sufi music, there's no going back. Every time I listen to this song (and a few others), I fall in deeper and deeper; each time discovering a different kind of love for the music. Chills!
Bibaswan Biswas Hey, gladly. Sorry I took time to reply, my laptop was out for repairs. Jagjit Singh pioneered the ghazal singing in India. I think you must start from there. Go to youtube, search 'Jagjit singh' and you can find many hour long videos. They are not videos they are songs with just pictures overlay. Instead of downloading separate songs and making playlists; watch these videos or maybe download them. As for sufi music, it is very vast. But you can listen to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, again on youtube. Nusrat Sahab is, by far and large, the best Sufi singer to ever lay foot on this planet. He sings many poems written by amir khusro and other poets' ghazals. You may find difficulty in liking it at first as you wouldn't understand what's being spoken until you know Urdu. search for meanings of a few words online and try to understand and interpret what is being said and you will start liking it. I have written much. Further queries? Reply me here itself. :)
oh my god I just can't imagine the euphoria and the energy that must have cultivated in the room while recording. this song gives me goosebumps over and over!! don't stop just don't!!! god bless these men!!

2022. Good stuff !
Beautiful integration of Western Instruments into traditional Qawwali! Such a rich musical experience which people from any part of the globe can plug into!
Asian signer has so power to borrow the instruments and make them theirs as if these were made exactly for them.
My parents and I watched 'The Reluctant Fundermentalist' where if I recall correctly this song is the main feature in the introduction of the film. Since watching the film my father passed away and this song helps me remember him. As a result I can only thank them for such an outstanding performance.
Travelling from Gilgit to Islamabad and listening to this on full volume. What a combination. 🔥
This is not only a song..but it's a medicine for wounded souls... bravo masters and God bless.

You know, once you start getting involved in sufi music, there's no going back. Every time I listen to this song (and a few others), I fall in deeper and deeper; each time discovering a different kind of love for the music. Chills!
Can you provide me more resources. I am a layman in music but great lover of music.
Bibaswan Biswas
Hey, gladly.
Rohail ,Man you are modern day Taansen .
oh my god I just can't imagine the euphoria and the energy that must have cultivated in the room while recording. this song gives me goosebumps over and over!! don't stop just don't!!! god bless these men!!

Plz don't mind write GOD in the capital letters
Suntay jao aur kho jao, ye bhi ek nazariya hai dekhnay ka, jahan aap Sangeet ki dhun ko dil ki dhadkan se jorh patay ho
