I bought an R3 about a month ago, I love it! I will say I want to get an R7 (or MT-07 or XSR-700) not for the speed but for the ability to get to 80 km/h (50 mph) without having to be too aggressive. I don’t want to be a sitting duck for all the other drivers on the road and I also want to keep my hearing in a decent place for the next 30 years
R7 is great it is very much an aggressive position high rear sets so your legs are bent up quite a bit bars are low and back is leaned but you get used to it pretty quick, has more that enough power to have fun and get around unless you’re wanting to really really go crazy then that’s when the big inline 4’s are the way to go
Being someone that rides an 2018 MT07, I would say definitely consider the MT07 based off the ergonomics and fun factor. The R7 is a great bike; but most of the people I’ve seen riding R7s get bored of them and sell/trade.
Horrible choice. I did the same thing when i started and would recommend to just get a quality helmet off the jump! My 1st helmet was an Icon Airflite that i purchased for $300 which was fine until i purchased my 2nd helmet a year after. i ended up buying a SHOEI RF-1400 Dedicated 2 helmet for $730 and let me tell you... Night and day cant compare.
I live in the same area and you pretty much rode within 10 minutes of my house I’ll have to keep my eye out for you! I bought a grom last year and hopefully going to take my msf course this year because I want to ride so badly I ride a 125 scooter with my wife when we are out in the Philippines and i’m addicted to riding! So glad I found your channel and will definitely continue watching you man!
coming from a car guy like you, whom been in the water with manual cars, I feel like I should be able to get down a 636cc bike with a couple weeks on a lot. I’ve seen the good and bad side of motorcycles and I’m 100% certain I know my capabilities on a bike. haven driven 125cc pit bikes for a few years, I’m sure a 636cc would be a great starter bike for me. I agree that you can never outgrow a motorcycle, but starting with a 600 would be great to swim in the deep end, without me having to jump straight in.
I got a 1000cc for my first bike. I know a lot of people say that's suicide, but i live in the UK, and we have multiple licensing tests and as much training as you need. I learned and did my tests on a 650 and a 750. So, I felt comfortable getting a 1000cc. Plus, it's an inline 4 so very usable down low. Do you have any tips on rev matching? I don't do it, and it seems more like people in America obsess over it. I dont really understand the point because either way the revs go up if you let the clutch out or rev match.
Rev matching will reduce the amount of engine braking when you downshift. Too much engine braking can sometimes lock the back tire, and that could cause a loss of control depending on the situation. I think rev matching is less stressful on the drivetrain as well.
@garvincollins8632 this is the best response I've had to this question. But can't you just control the clutch release to make it smoother. I'd still like to learn to do this. Guess it just takes time and practice
@ gt.bugger I think that would put more wear on the clutch, also if you are downshifting to accelerate, rev matching will make the transition to a lower gear, and then accelerating much smoother. Smooth actions on a bike are always better for control.
I wish that I knew how much people hate motorcyclist. it doesn’t happen often (thankfully) but i notice that people try to bully motorcycles because they’re smaller. Morons being on your ass, shifting in the lane to block you, complaining about exhaust noise and finally telling you about how their wife’s father in-law lost a brother because they were on a bike without gear and a helmet. I think bikes get a bad rep and sometimes for good reason. I’m no saint but, the way some of these people behave makes me think their wife has a biker boyfriend on the side.
it probably wouldn’t have changed much but at least I would’ve have known what to expect. Like you I grew up as a car guy but that quickly extended to bikes, trucks, and guns so, I never really noticed all the hate until now
Personally I’m all on the airbag train so for me gear is more expensive but I’d rather pay out the rear to give myself a better chance of preventing any life changing or ending injury. I don’t love anything enough to be willing to trade my health for it so I would do everything I can.
Insurance really isn’t that bad compared to cars, I’m paying 70 for an older bike (sport touring) and a car I had that was older cost me 150 a month just for the basic coverage..
Great video 💪🏻 i am currently saving for a new bike because I crashed my last one (MT09) 🫣 I recommend safety gear to 100% it saved my spine from breaking completely i have now some titanium there but i can walk and ride 😁 and i do not recommend to buy a stunt cage if you wanna go low on the corners because this shit can cost you a new bike and a broken spine like mine 🤦🏻 ride save buddy and everyone else that read this 💪🏻 and a good new year 🎊
I’m sorry but IMO there are a lot of quality helmets out there in the $250-350 range you just need to look outside the realm of whatever all the motorcycle content creators are wearing ie AGV Pista, alpinestar R10, KYT, Shoei, there are many other brands that you get a lot of the features that come with the higher priced lids, at a fraction of the cost, you just need to look past the latest greatest “IT” helmets, I much rather get more bang for my buck so the money I save can go towards other gear or towards a new rear tire.
So you want to be thrifty on the thing protecting your brain to put it towards other gear? How about you buy the best helmet then save more for the gear and the tire?
@ wow I guess in your mind expensive right away equals the best, well aren’t you a good little consumer, your the type of person every company loves, they tell you this the best and most expensive, and you’ll be the first in-line to hand them over your money, I’ve had the high priced helmets when I first started riding and then found out hey they need to pass the same testing and requirements as all the other lower priced helmets, so if they have all the bells and whistles, and pass all the same testing, so what’s the extra money for oh right the name, so are you more concerned with safety or what’s it sounds like is your more concerned with image and following the status quo. Your probably the type that swears the best bike is a Ducati V4 which is a beautiful bike but it’s uncomfortably hot in the summer to ride, it overheats in stop and go traffic, and it costs way more than the competition in price, maintenance and parts but hey according to your way of thinking it’s the best bike and the only bike. I’m sorry I’m gonna use my head for something other than following the latest trend, but hey you do you!!
How is modifying a bike cheap???? A full titanium exhaust for my GSX-R000r is over 2k and the tune alone is 700….. that’s not including velocity stacks, intake, sprockets, and etc.
@@RubensRamirez4.8Thank you for watching! Means a lot bro! The noise you’re hearing may be the bike’s cooling fan running because it does come on around that 10 second mark

1. Gear is expensive
2. Insurance costs
3. Bike vs car, affordable
4. Start on small cc, and learn
5. Tons of fun
6. REAAAAAAALLY tons of fun

The R7 is pretty aggressive with the ergonomics, but the engine is fantastic across the board.

LOL, an r3 is still faster than most vehicles on the road.
Also the MT07 sounds like heaven in a bike
200-400$ is a better estimate for helmet pricing for beginners. There are plenty of ECE / Snell certified helmets at 250$
