Nice job! Love this video. I used to work for a mass producer of stock and custom stationary and mobile reservoirs. Kinda reminded me of that time in my life. Miss it at times, but it was definitely hard work. Both physically, and mentally.
Used to do non-destructive testing: hydrostatic, air pressure, DPT testing daily. Along with finishing, packaging, and shipping.
This type of reservoir would be a hydrostatic test. Flat gaskets on the lid, with holes punched out, secured with 3/8" bolts attached to threaded tabs on the underside through the holes.
Other similar tanks never a lip on the top edge. Just gussets in the corners, 1/2" below the top edge. Those tanks had U-Channel gasket and similar lid style. There were a few dozen different types of available for motor mounts, SAE couplings. Some NPT threads, but mostly SAE. All other tanks had 3/4" SAE drains on the tank itself. Very rarely we'd also do british standard fittings.
1 gallon - thousands of gallon pressure & holding reservoirs for all types of industry. Carbon/ Stainless, you name it.
We bidded on, and produced some of the nicest tanks for Wajax, Arcelor Mittal, Bosch were some of the most beautiful ones to-date. Arcelor-Mittal had 3 of the biggest tanks we ever did in the 5 years I was there.
Thinking about starting my own company doing that exact thing. As I had a supervisory position, it was quite the handle, and bullshit I had to put up with, learned a lot about people, the product for mass production. :D
    Cheers, thanks for the video
Good luck. I look forward to videos of the use of this hydraulic unit!
If you need parts, or somewhere to look, or more inspiration, send me a message or find a way to privately contact me, I'll hook you up with some info on a multi-national company for both stationary and mobile sub-systems, and single unit propagation. :D

The Russian built quite many things from scraps with a few manual power tools like angle grinder, welder, sometimes without even a professional drill press with great ideas. This guy’s shop is filled to the roof with all kind of purpose built tools and materials which I guess must be worth of $100K. I like to watch the process but what they make are not extreme anyway.

Ideally, when setting up the suction strainer you want it horizontal and as Low in the tank as possible.
That’s the way to get the most out of your oil. Especially if you have several different cylinders/attachments.. each time you disconnect one, quite a bit of oil gets left behind in the cylinder. Having the strainer up like that highly increases chance for cavitation.
This isn’t meant to be a smart ass comment, just a heads up for getting the most out of your new machine.

    Great video and project.
I did not read through all the comments, so it might have already been said, but is that motor designed and rated to be run in the vertical position like that?
I'm asking because MOST motors have plain roller bearings and if run in this position, they'll fail fast. You need tapered roller thrust bearings to support that shaft if you're running it in the vertical position. A quick google search of the model number will tell you all you need to know about running positions.
In any case, keep up the great work.

    Si me dejas opinar:
    Saludos.

I have a question: Most people who 'construct' equipment use paint spray cans to paint parts instead of an air compressor and pistol. Is it because it is less laborious or is it because the spray cans are cheap?

There's something I've been wondering about, and given you guys do it in like every 2nd to 3rd video atleast once maybe you can tell me: why is it that when cutting threads on the lathe the cuts are so slight that they barely take out a literal hair of material?
I've seen this being done that way in more than one place so I assume there is a good reason, but I can't really (as someone who obviously never used one myself) figure it out, given that with other uses the cuts can really bite pieces out without a problem.
