Juna is a new friend of mine. Met her in London, England back in October when she was playing at a concert with Rie aka: Suzaku, another friend. One day we all went to the British Museum, and Juna did most of the translating. She was just at the NAMM show with Rie and is staying in L.A. for at least a month. Juna is really charming, funny and a really nice person. UPDATE: Juna just posted a photo of her with Bootsy in L.A. whom she just met for the first time. By the way, Bootsy had previously posted Juna's ''Princess of Funk' on his Facebook page.
Some of these kids got their start in some of the Great High Schools in Japan. Some of the School Marching Bands are fantastic. They even play old Benny Goodman Sing, Sing Sing. The greatest is the Tachibana H.S. band in Kyoto. They are incredible. I can see some of these kids coming from there, especially the Horn section. Those kids love Jazz!
The lady on tenor sax is Harumo Imai and she's more of a permanent guest member of Tokyo Groove Jyoshi. The drummer is MiMi and she is the current drummer of Tokyo Groove Jyoshi. MiMi replaced Yuriko Seki and Rina Hoshino replaced Juna as bassist. Juna also plays bass for AddOne, Muses, The Jazz Avengers, Shoka Okubo Blues Project and I think one or two others.
Ever listen to Yuriko Seki or Senri Kawaguchi? Juna has played with both. Yuriko was the original drummer for Tokyo Groove Jyoshi and Senri is the drummer for The Jazz Avengers. If you like Blues check out Shoka Okubo Blues Project. Juna is the bassist.
Fantastic bass-playing and incredible musicianship all-around, and nice to see that such intense research went into the creation of this track's quite-Dylanesque lyricism!!! Pretty sure that perhaps the every-handy language guide Rosetta Stone was consulted in their obviously quite-stressful birthing...and don't try the fish, not so fresh tonight!
You're too kind in your flattering, and I'm most grateful for the steady flow of piping hot and fresh content. P.S., a few kind more words like those above, and both heads will be too big for their britches!!!
I think she is a really hard working musician and so is the rest of the band. I'm born and raised musician here in the USA playing for six decades. I don't speak any language but English nor play any other music than hard core Americana. I think they are to be complimented that they have tried so hard to be part of the whole world of Funk and add their part. English is not their first language and obviously funk isn't Asian music. Try and consider that before passing too harsh of a judgement....just sayin'.
We are the ones who brought her to the forefront, and the last thing we would do is pass negative judgment, and we did not. We're big fans and wanted to give her a platform to show everyone what she's got. Thanks for watching. 🤘
Does not expand her abilities? I strongly beg to differ. Do you mean playing with The Jazz Avengers, Muses, Shoka Okubo Blues Project, Tokyo Groove Jyoshi, AddOne is not expanding? She also plays alto sax, electric guitar, upright bass, is learning the banjo AND violin but "she doesn't expand her abilities?"
She’s very limited in her playing. I’ve only seen several tunes nothing more. Banking on just those limited gigs. She can play but she doesn’t expand her talent correctly
Have you heard of Shoka Okubo Blues Project? The Jazz Avengers? Muses or AddOne? She's their bassist along with a couple of others. She also plays electric guitar, upright bass, alto sax and is currently learning banjo AND violin.🤷🏼♂️
Preen-sense of funk! Sucked. And I love funk. I could tell how excited these critics felt trying to come up with some positive points. Lol. I couldn't even understand her talking pauses. This is what I call soulless funk. They have the rhythm, don't get me wrong, but they lack the feel. This ain't no AWB. VERY forgettable song. Sorry guys. This band gets an F. And it doesn't stand for funk.
A lot of my musical past is hardcore funk, so I'm with you on this one. Although I wouldn't give them an F. If we give her a d minus, at least it will keep her working at her craft. Thanks for watching.🤘
@@UnhingedReactions You're right. I was a little to hard on them on the grade scale. I too am a hardcore funkster (hence my moniker). I have lots of favorite funk bands. Tower of Power, Cameo, Confunkshun, Quazar, Ozone, Full Force, Pleasure... I'm sure you've heard of all of them. The funkier the beat, the better!. Lol. I too am a musician and base my style on tight guitar rhythms like Tower of Power (and solos ala Santana). So I really appreciate what true funk is about. Real funk makes you want to move automatically. This band would be good for a party where people just want easy beats to dance to. You're probably like me. We not only listen to the music, we analyze it. I guess being musicians we tend to dissect the DNA of the sounds. This is a decent band, but I would definitely not buy their music. Too generic for me. I like my music spicy!! Lol. Be safe brother.
@@oldschoolfunkster1 Sounds good, we've got a lot in common. Hope you've subscribed to the channel, as we've got more great classics, guitar players, other guitar related specials, street musicians, and lots more on the way...🤘
Juna is absolutely on fire on that Fender Bass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All those ladies are off the hook awesome players !!!

She's just awesome in everything I've seen her in!
All of these musicians are exceptional

I don't know what it is about the drummer she nearly brings me to tears, way too much soul.

She’s talented but doesn’t expand her abilities. She has a few good tunes but is too limited.
