I’m from the Highlands of Scotland.
I can not tell you how underrated this part of the country is as most tourists want to visit the big cities, which are insanely beautiful and interesting in themselves, but the Highlands and West Coast of Scotland often get overlooked.
You will need a car in the Highlands though as public transportation is few and far between (but does exist)

In general, when you take leave, either your work is left for you when you come back. or the MANAGER (Not you!) arranges for someone else to cover for you. Most managers actively encourage you to take your annual leave/vacation - they know you come back refreshed and ready to get back into things....

Reduce the Monthly Salary by one twelfth plus an allowance for Additional National Holidays and then you have 4 + weeks Holidays with Pay- doesn't take a Mathematical genius. Americans don't work harder- they spread it out over a longer period and many, in my experience appear lazy when in fact they are simply tired and depressed.

Stick a few small shops and a convenience store every few blocks and people will walk, it needs a code change so stores are built amongst the homes in the suburbs and they become less sterile.

Good luck with your quest to have a long stay in the UK. There are many beautiful cities, towns, and villages to visit, with districts such as The Cotswolds and Lake District that a walker would love, plus many, many, more.
Then of course there are the beaches. Which are too many to mention, but down South there’s the Jurassic Coast, and Devon and Cornwall are probably top spots for sea, sun and sand.
You’ll definitely have no problem stretching your legs either, and if you feel like putting your feet up, we’re pretty good with the transport angle too, as even in small villages, there are regular buses.

Since the invention of the internet and Americans finding out how they are being screwed over compared to those outside the US, the number of Americans emigrating has increased year on year. The US Government says there's about 12 million living abroad, but that's just the ones who still have American citizenship. The actual number is close to double that because many have given up their citizenship so they don't have to pay taxes.

The person had obviously only travelled to South to Brighton not realising that where she lives, she is a few miles away from Camber Sands, which as its very name suggest is a seaside town with a SANDY beach that is over a mile long!! 😲😂😂. It’s always amazes me that America just hasn’t grasped the fact that giving employees a proper work life balance is much more effective that working people to the bone. Having 25-30 vacation days a year allows employees to stay refreshed by having relaxation time with their family or the ability take emergency holiday when they need it. This is not just physically beneficial but also mentally. Research has shown that this allows people to work more efficiently and with a more positive mind set and is overall better for the businesses concerned. Because they have much more content staff they are far more productive and if they need you to work a few extra hours people are much more happy to do it. In America it’s the complete opposite.

    • @colinstevens2691
      @colinstevens2691 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@willrichardson519 America is about control. Government and big corporations only care about money and not their citizens. You can see that with the fact that they are denied the basic human right of free health care whilst in the rest the western world (Canada, Australia, UK , Europe health care is free) In America if you’re poor and you get ill then the government basically gives you the middle finger and says tough luck. Guns that are killing their citizens including their children in the tens of thousands every year yet government won’t ban or control them adequately because the NRA & Co fund their campaigns. It’s really sad because I used to love visiting America but I would never go back now. My childhood friend moved to America and ended up taking his life with a gun in front of his boss because he was driven to the depths of despair and depression by him, the workplace bullying he faced masquerading as asking him to just do his job. The working culture there just sucks, it’s profit no matter what the cost, even if it’s human life sometimes

I've lived in Australia for over 55 years as an expat Canadian, now an Australian citizen. Much of the working conditions are similar to the U.K. And before any Aussies go all 'no they're not', this is a generalisation. I can remember my first visit back to North America in the mid-1970s, and friends and family asked about living and working in Australia. When I told them about Australian working conditions and entitlements, they thought I was gaslighting them. Some of my Canadian and American relatives came to visit Australia in following decades to discover that what I said was true. As for your comment about going to the U.K. for 3 months, my advice to you is go for 12 months. Your life won't end as you know it. But your world view will change dramatically. And your ability to adapt will improve out of site. Not to mention your courage to face the unknown and new life challenges. I'm an old man now. But I have lived in a number of countries before finally settling in Australia. Living in new countries will have it's difficulties from time to time. But if you are genuine with the new people around you, they will be generous in helping you. So that when you are an old man like me, you want to look back with fondness for the experiences you've had, and apologise for the things you did. And to not regret what you could have done but were afraid to.

At my office, we get TOLD to make sure we take our holidays! We can only carry over a few days, and that has to be signed off! Plus it is preferred that we take at least two weeks at one time if possible to make sure we relax (takes a few days to chill down)
    Use 'em or lose them!!
This the main reason I didn't take up my cousin's offer to work with her in the 80's with early computers as I had the experience she was looking for. Nah, I would have said 'Mtcheeww' to any one trying to get me to work more than my contracted hours unless it was a truly urgent job!!

He kept complaining about the “long walk” from the plane to baggage claim area, and if he had mobility issues or kids with him, I would have understood. Housing, either rented or buying costs so much that people in their 20s and over still live with parents. We are terribly over populated. Millions have moved here in the past few years, many illegally, causing this . London is insanely expensive. England has many problems which are never told on TH-cam.

Ah! The old 'millions have moved here in the past few years, many illegally, causing this' trope. I think, if you do a little unbiased research, you will find that the causes of the decline in the NHS are to do with political choices to not fund it properly, to outsource services to private, profit motivated, companies and to refuse to pay those who work in the NHS - nurses, doctors and other health practitioners - a decent salary. Add to that the fact that the government of the last 14 years has stripped training to the bone and failed to plan for the needs of the population and you will see where the responsibility really lies.
Hopefully, a new government will begin to redress some of the damage done by the Tories. It will not be accomplished overnight, as destroying something is much easier than reconstruction.

If it were up to some of the people urging us to move to an 'insurance' based health service (which is what we have anyway), your treatment would have been likely to bankrupt you, in order to ensure that your 'insurance provider' maintained and grew its profits. And, as for the people with splinters, they would probably be denied treatment because they couldn't afford the premiums. Hope you've had a full recovery, by the way.
