ENSENADA MEXICO 3/26/23 | THINGS TO DO IN CRUISE PORT | WALKING AROUND TOWN | CARNIVAL RADIANCE

- I visited the Ensenada cruise port on 3/26/23 while on a Carnival Radiance 3-day cruise. If you are looking for some things to do in the port of Ensenada, this video shows me walking around town and visiting many places for food, shopping, etc.
Here are some of things, and places, that I highlight in the video:
- I show you the port area where all of the cruise lines will dock. I give you very important information about the $4 shuttles that take you into downtown.
- I walk you through Parque De La Bandera (this is the area where the large Mexican flag is located). I show you the food options and the areas where there are some activities for children.
- I walk you out from Parque De La Bandera and towards the downtown area. Before we go into downtown, I point out the locations of Happy Factory Popcorn, Roma Pharmacy, Lidia's Tacos, and the El Guero street cart.
- As we walk into the downtown area, I point out the La Guerrerense seafood street cart (made famous by Anthony Bourdain), Mariscos Bahia Ensenada, Massage and Facial Care, McDonalds, Taco Movil, Carriana Jewels, Curiosidades Monterrey de Ensenada, Licores Plaza 2, the Mexican Candy Store, Sr, Poblano Taqueria, Papa's & Beer, and Hussong's Cantina.
- I show you the two drop off spots for the $4 shuttles from the port (one over by Papa's & Beer and the other over by Starbucks and McDonalds (close to the port).

I have taken food back on the cruise with me and not had any issues.

Are there public restrooms available on this self guided walking tour?
Some places will have restrooms, but they will charge you to use them. It’s usually around or $1 or so.

They will all take USD, but you will get your change back in pesos

Thank you!! The mobility scooters will be fine if you are staying on the Malecón (boardwalk) area. Once you go outside of that area, navigating them on the sidewalks there (with the amount of people, vendors, etc.), may be difficult.
How often do you do the cruise with Catalina Island and how many times have you been to La Bufadora? Do you ever visit Riviera del Pacifico in Ensenada?
Catalina Island is part of the 4-day sailing, which I don't typically do (I only did it once last year as part of a back to back cruise). I primarily do the 3-day sailing because the Fri-Mon schedule allows me to use less vacation time. I have only been to La Bufadora once. I have not visited Riviera Del Pacifico in Ensenada. Is this a place I should visit? I will have to do some research and get more info.
@@TheBeachLife I've been to Riviera Del Pacifico 4 times which is how many times I've cruised to Ensenada. It's real close to the cruise terminal and worth visiting once if you've never been. They claim to be the birthplace of the margarita but so does Hussong's cantina so someone isn't telling the truth. 😄

You're very welcome! I definitely got my steps in that day 🤣 -- If you stay in that main downtown area (that I show in the video,) you will be fine. If you can find another person (or group) that would be good too.
My wife and I have cruised many times I've never had a problem in Ensenada. Stay in populated areas. But if you're concerned, make friends with people on the ship ahead of time and go with them.
P.S. don't wear or show anything flashy, or expensive-looking.

Do any of the shuttles accommodate ecv scooters? How easy or difficult is it to navigate the oceanfront and downtown area on a scooter?
I am told they can accommodate scooters on the shuttles. The waterfront area is easy to navigate by scooter. The downtown area will be more difficult
How's cruising to Ensenada in August, any risk from hurricane season?
I have had no issues cruising in August. Carnival does a good job of working around weather issues
Heading out there this weekend. You recommend dollars or pesos, and if pesos from where? In Puerto Vallarta the fee is high at most places for pesos.
I always do dollars (never used pesos)

When is the earliest you can get off the ship?
I believe it's around 815 AM or so. Honestly, there isn't much going (unless you are going on an excursion) until around 11 AM.
Are the shuttles and town rollator friendly?
Sorry, not sure what a rollator is? If you are saying like wheelchair or scooter friendly, the shuttles are, but not the town.
I have an excursion scheduled for noon, do you think we can go ahopping before hand and still get back in time for the excursion?
If you leave the ship early enough, you could definitely do that. What time do you get back from the excursion?

Yes, there is one a couple blocks up from the flag called Mariscos Bahia Ensenada
Are prices in US Dollars as well as pesos? Is it a good idez to exchange $$
The prices will almost always be in pesos. I typically just use US Dollars, just be aware of the exchange rate during your visit (as you negotiate)
The tacos 🌮 tasting the menu pricing is that in US dollars or in peso…??
I think they have both prices. I heard the Taco Movil tacos have gone up to $2 a taco, which is still not a bad deal.
This might sound naive but how do you pay for things there. Can you use your US debit card or cash?
It’s a commonly asked question. You can use US dollars and debit or credit cards. If you are not going to use dollars, I would strongly encourage you to use a credit card over a debit card. If you have any issues with a transaction you are better off dealing with the credit card companies versus your bank.
Will I need a passport to enter ensenada when I exit the cruise ship?
You do not. I still highly recommend a passport because if you have to fly out of Mexico for some unplanned reason, you will need a passport
