I am so grateful for my handful of favorite little shops that come find me in the store and bring me the "put out" carts to pick from first. I am always donating the larger items that I can't haul, which makes them money and they help me out too. It's awesome!

Vintage clothing does have to be washed carefully. I have washed clothing from the 1940s and I use a mix of Woolite and Oxyclean. I spot treat with a bar of Naptha and a toothbrush in warm water. I would try spot treating the water stain first to see if it will come out of the bride dress. I would not soak the entire dress because that netting can be delicate and might tear if placed in a sink wash.

I would sell as is and be sure to take good pics of the stain. I'd be completely honest and say that I don't want to be resposible for attempting to remove the stain. I don't trust dry cleaners either.

Please do a follow-up video about the doll and what you decided to do about cleaning her dress. Personally, I would be very careful with the dress cleaning, if any. If the material is 60 or more years old, it might fall apart if washed or dry cleaned. Also, please let us know how much she sold for in the end. Thanks for educating us.

Someone that's willing to spend $600 on a doll is going to know how to restore it, or know someone who does. I would sell her as-is. Your comps were doll only, you have some nice accessories that should sell well on their own, especially the jewelry and did I see a tiara? . Maybe get a pic of each piece with the doll and a big "doll not included" in the listing. I sold an Effenbee doll for $422 about 10 yrs. ago, she was composition with cracking, but original clothes and shoes, the big selling point was she had on her original bracelet with her name (Ruthie if I remember right) on it. You know by now the small pieces can be worth as much as the doll/toy itself, like MOTU and GI Joe weapons! Great pick up, now to go check out your eBay listings! (btw, my doll only cost me $12!)

First find and talk to a "Doll doctor". They're literally called that. They will steer you right direction. Especially mention her head piece, it's important and too yellowed. They might advise a REALLY GOOD dry cleaner or not. No matter hat it will be a low investment for a high return.

Take the dress off the doll and take it to a local dry cleaners and ask their opinion about cleaning it. Obviously explain it's vintage. I think that would be your best bet. I've also seen other youtubers clean vintage wedding gowns by soaking it in a mixture of soaps. Maybe try a search on TH-cam for those videos. You make be able to just let it soak in the sink or bathtub and get the stain out. A good steaming when it's dry will perk it up. Love it.

Great scores on this day! On those antique road shows they always say “don’t try to clean something yourself” Look into getting or at least contacting a professional who’s knows something about antiques and clothing. I would not just let a strip mall local cleaner try to take that stain out. You could go and get their opinion and knowledge but get more than one person’s idea on how to clean this. Just like anything else 2nd and 3rd opinions always help. Good luck checking around and doing the research, it will pay off for you in the end. 💕💕💕

I soaked my moms old wedding dress that had similar stain (made in the 40’s ) in wool light with just a little biz in tub for a day then rinsed and hung to dry. Dry cleaners would not touch it and wool light was their suggestion. Dress turned out great ,I made gifts for my daughters wedding using the dress.

Get yourself some Retro-Clean! When I ever come across good vintage worth picking up to resell, I ALWAYS use this product for a good soak! Shy away from Oxyclean, as it's not nearly as gentle as and often allows colors to run! Retroclean! It'll make 50-60-70-80-90-100+ Year old piece look BRAND NEW. May be worth your while to pick up if you don't mind a little labor of love to see more profits when it comes to stained vintage pieces. Give it the 4 step 48 hour soak that I've been doing for 14 years! 1st step... let it sit in one cold or lukewarm bath for 24 hours. RINSE. Repeat process. If it's white or ecru, or something in between and the Sun's out and weather permits, allow to sit in the Sun and take in the breeze! Natural chloroform and the like will make it bright! Anything else, just let stand in a nice dry place on a hanger or something. This is NOT a paid sponsorship for retroclean! Just believe in it mighty! Keep it up, sincerest regards!

I really liked that bedspread and I probably would have picked it up; however, the problem with Battenburg, Tambour and Cluny lace items anymore, a large portion of the population has no real feel for the value and that has driven down prices. If someone gets a box of old linens at an auction for $10, then finds a Cluny lace bedspread in the bottom in mint condition, they may put it on Ebay for $30 whilst it could sell for $500 to someone who knows what they are getting. All this being said, people that are looking specifically for a nice true antique bed coverlet, they will pay top dollar for the style they want. If they like your $395 design better than one that is $75, they are not going to settle for less than what they want. So IMO, paying up for something special like this piece (and it was special but probably wouldn't sell for more than $195 as there was no truly intricate cutwork and floral appliques) is worth it in most instances. When you come across a really special one in the future, you will know you should buy it - you'll have that quality feeling. The one from your video was nice but I'd give it a 7 out of 10 so either way, you made the right choice. The dolls were a wonderful find - amazing score. If you sell it with the trunk, I think you will get $600 even with the staining - there are listings for dress only for under $50 so they can get one in mint condition to go with it. The extra clothes and dolls may sell for close to that too - there are videos on how to put the doll arms back on - not that difficult - love to see you try :-)

There are doll groups on Facebook with members who could tell you all about the dolls you just bought. The people who are serious collectors will know how to remove that stain on the bride's dress--if I were you I'd disclose the condition, take pictures of it and let the new owner handle it. I really don't think it will affect the price very much because I am sure it can be corrected.

Also, what kind of work did you do before reselling and is reselling more profitable? You seem to enjoy what you're doing. Nice to set your own hours, be your own boss, etc. Was it a difficult decision going from working for someone else, getting a regular paycheck, etc., to having your own business?
