You're the first person with one of these wringer washers that's using it right! I see people take the clothes out of dirty water, wring them, and they fall into a separate container with water. Very unnecessary and time-consuming. The idea with these machines is to do it the way you are - use the washer basin itself to rinse the clothes after they are washed. BTW your cat is just too cute!

Do you have to use the timer on these Kenmore machines or can you simply run the washer for as long as you want?

    COOL house and washer!
18:00 You could have also used some WD-40 to get rid of that squeak.

Thanks Axel- what was in that spray bottle? I think my model is much older. Do you know when Sears started using a 3-prong plug? My washer belonged to my late Mother-in-law. She used it on the farm when the boys were in school. So 1950s/1960s. We have to repair our septic field, so I just started using this washer outside, this week. It is a blast from the past! Your place is decidedly 1960s. Our farm cottage is pretty much a slice of 1940 rural New Hampshire. I have 1930 Home Comfort kitchen wood stove and a 1928 Hoosier baking cabinet. All family treasures, as well as this washer and a 1900s Faultless treadle sewing maching. All I need is the oak ice box! ~ Diane
P.S. Can reproduction user manuals be found?

It’s a Whirlpool built machine under the Sears Kenmore name. Sears’ owned a majority of Whirlpool’s stock to about the mid to late 60’s, usually Kenmore appliances got the newest features first then Whirlpool since Kenmore machines in 1955 had the 2 speed feature and Whirlpool introduced the 2 speeds on their TOL Imperial washer for 1956. Kenmore had the timeline feature and Wash N Wear/Permanent Press on their Lady Kenmore machines (very few have survived) in 1958, Whirlpool then introduced the timeline and Wash N Wear/Permanent Press cycle on their TOL Imperial Mark XII for 1958. In 1959/1960, Kenmore had a Super Wash cycle with enzyme soak, then Whirlpool came out with a Super Wash cycle and Super Wash N Wear cycle on their Imperial and Imperial Mark XII machines in 1963 and can confirm this since I have my ‘63 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII. Kenmore even had a interesting lint separating system on their 1959 to about 1961 machines that had basically put lint into a vacuum bag and you’d change it out when it got full but was dropped since it added a little more complexity to the machine and probably had issues with clogging the ductwork to the lint bag. Kenmore even had a feature on their gas dryers that debuted around 1962 called soft nest where it would start out with a full 37,000 heat output then would gradually start turning the flame down when the clothes got dry and would throttle it all the way down to about 8,000 btus of heat or so, electric models in the soft heat configuration simply had a dual heating element set up where it would turn the larger wattage element on and off as needed but would keep the lower wattage element on to maintain temperature.

@@seana806 These whirlpools and kenmores were powerful! How do they compare to today's maytags with the sensor dry? I don't like how these so-called washers and dryers perform. The ones on my dorm don't fill up with enough water and the dryers don't dry even on whites/colors. They're maytag built by whirlpool.

@@jeromedavis8575 Maytag by far had the best moisture sensing system on any dryer ever made, it’s amazing how something from 1960 is far, far ahead of today’s dryer. Only thing is the Maytag electronic dry control can be a bit tricky to diagnose, ended up having to convert my Maytag DG606 into a DG306 since a majority of the wiring was corroded from years on constant burning pilot light, took some effort but haven’t had any issues in the 3 almost 4 years I’ve owned that dryer.

@@seana806 I wish my dorm had more real washers and dryers. They're maytag energy advantage washers and dryers. I've watched them and they don't wash or dry worth crap and they're modern ones.
