Was this at the Vats? Because I can remember the first day I got to SF back in 83, I came to the Vats. People told me there was a show on the top floor that night. When I got there there was a guy with a cowboy hat on. I had no idea who he was. I was the bass player for RKL and had just left the band. I didn't know anything about the bands in SK except for DRI and MDC. Then they started rocking like this. Any help here?

The band from Texas that came to rip up all the left wing scum of San Francisco. Here was the most hardcore of all punk bands who clearly believed “America love it or leave it” These were all American punks like I’d never seen. They lived in their rehearsal space at the beer vats which once used to be a Budweiser brewery. The building is still there but is now yummy lofts. The practice space was locked at night so they brought jars and bottles to piss in until their friends unlocked the “beer vat” in the morning. These guys got more teen pussy than anyone I’ve ever seen. Eventually they got a touring van that they lived in. I think the van was initially Greg the drummers van. They had it parked in the Safeway parking lot on market st and Church st. These guys were hardcore survivors. They knew were there was free food in SF. If they had money they typically hate steak burritos from La Cumbre.
Their big break was going to tour with Slayer who honored the band by releasing a cover album of most of the verbal abuse songs.
I recall they found some other band they called themselves “verba l’buse”. It pussed them off to no end. They figured out who they were and would call these people at all hours of the night telling them to not use “their name”. Truly a wild bunch. I recall steam coming off the drummers head on cold days. Their cover of were an American band is off the charts.
It’s good to see Nicky continue singing though I don’t think he was able to recruit players like the original lineup. Esp Joie on guitar and Brett on drums not to mention Gregg James on drums. who are playing in this performance
