For a race that was over before it began, on a meaningless sprint stage. When I saw Julian on the front I thought "OK, HERE WE GO LADS" but he only pulled for a few hundred mtrs and then stopped. Even tho Merlier won, it was not a good display of cohesion by them AT ALL

    What’s the difference between the inter giro competition and the intermediate sprint competition

    • @kennykaniff
      @kennykaniff 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From what I understand it's another race within the Giro hence the name "INTER-GIRO". It's basically another finish line earlier in each stage and whoever reaches that inter-giro "finish line" fastest gets their time taken at the inter-giro line and each day their time is added up over the 21 stages. It's the same as the GC battle but it's a separate finish line earlier in each stage. It's quite strange. I believe it used to be used in quite a few years ago but I don't think it's been implemented in recent years. I'm not 100% sure about that tho

    Generally, I really love the Giro and much prefer it to the 'commercial circus' that is the Tour de France. It's a much 'purer' race and still targeted at the fans and tifosi. But this year, the Giro has been a massive disappointment.
    It seems to have been all about sprinting. Far fewer mountain stages and battles between riders. [as exceptional as Pog undoubtedly is - he has had virtually no competition]. I really hope the race organisers rethink their strategy for the 2025 Giro.

    • @worldender_tv

    • @RadIguanas
      @RadIguanas 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pogačar's dominance is exactly what the organizers anticipated and prepared for. With less mountain stages, he should have less advantage on paper, hence more competition. Obviously, that didn't happen😂, but the lead would be closer to 12min in an average Giro

    • @RadIguanas
      @RadIguanas 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      1st stage was hilly with the intention for Pog to take the MagliaRosa and carry it throughout the 3 weeks to make history. The rest would be a parkour for daily heroes and background battles. In the end, it's the riders that make the race

    • @stuarthickson6103
      @stuarthickson6103 4 หลายเดือนก่อน
