I climbed Jacobs Ladder in 1964 when I was 14 on my Dawes ‘Realm Rider’. In those days the track was in a terrible state and I had to carry the bike for much of the climb. The best part of the ride down into Hayfield - and the 20 mile cycle home.

@@jimmybean6090 Hey I'm at 225 lbs and I didn't want to get an e bike because I biked for extra cardio for mma training. one day when looking for a new bike I mentioned this and he said take this bike and see if you get a workout.. The most intense cardio I have ever had lol I had it and turbo and was peddling as hard as I could because it seemed liked a little bit more effort gave you a lot more fun! best thing I ever did for cardio training for real! it's helped me in mma so much . Now I'm not saying you can't be lazy, because you can put it in turbo and go normal speed and let it do most the work bit for me , I love putting in the effort to go faster !! . bit hey I'm very lean and been working out since I was 13 , I guess that 19 years so far lol.. @@jimmybean6090 I'm afraid it is! I've met loads of folk out on the trails who put off getting an e-bike because they thought like that; and struggled on ... doing a few miles here and there on an analogue bike; only to get an e-bike and become addicted to miles and hills and countryside ... and consequently get much fitter than they otherwise would have ... and lost weight ... and found a new way of life that they love.

3:23 I put that stone in, most of the gritstone used came from the river bed. In the 80's the bridal path up past Edale head farm ruin was all grass, so effectively the bit between the two gates which weren't there in the 80's.

I climbed (ahem walked up) Jacob’s Ladder in the mid 90s on a Ti hard tail. The day I did it, it was blowing a tempest up top. I rode 13 miles, consumed a complete set of brake blocks (the days of rim brakes) and two weeks later my rims collapsed. It was what you would call “character building”.
Even to today, I rank that as one of toughest and most memorable rides in 30+ years of MTB.

Why would anyone want to climb up one of the best descents in the Peaks? Having said that, good effort!

who ever chose the soundtrack needs their head held underwater until they pass out. then they need to be revived, and the process repeated.

Nice ride well done, but cycling, scooting, skate boarding are meant to be physical activities not assisted with power. That's my opinion, no matter how hard it is that's the challenge, pushing oneself.
If it's too hard, too long, too steep just do less, but challenging yourself is the fun. That's my thinking anyway.

Doing Jacobs ladder on an e bike is cheating you've not really done it unless it's under your own power NO MOTORS

Electric bike climbing ? What an absolute joke. I thought U were on actual mountain bikes not electric mopeds

The most technical climb in the country?🤔. You need to get yourself up to the Lake District boys but leave the mopeds behind.

Hardly a challenge on a stupid ev bike .
It’s about time the national trust took some action always sprouting on about looking after the environment only more batteries for stupid electric bikes means more lithium mined or extracted from the surface or even worse the sea bed killing vital sea life .

@@jamesuk9iPhone but it doesn’t have wheels and is not really needed when the first guy started mountain biking it was all about adventure and challenge now it’s all about which fell can we not climb up or let’s make a new path just for ev bikes . Been hit up the rear on the north loop in whinlatter forest by a ev biker who clearly could not control the power .
