    So this video has been getting a lot more views than usual and new peeps are watching this rn. Hi, hello, welcome! But to all who think this is a review for the game ... it's not. My style/humor is to exaggerate and be an ironic nerd. While the current sniping meta is horrendous, it doesn't matter. Foxhole is not about getting epic killstreaks or who can move a mouse faster. It's about coming together with a couple of friends or even random peeps and doing some fun shit. And you decide what that shit is. It could be fighting in a massive 20+ tank battle, it could be running partisan ops to destroy enemy logistical targets, It could be chilling on the frontline trenches while enemy arty is hammering your position, it could be sailing on the open seas hunting enemy ships, it could sitting 5 hours at a scrap field while holding left click or even sitting in a 50+ player queue to get into the game. Whatever it is, YOU decide!
    Foxhole has a lot of problems and the community can be the biggest cry babies sometimes (me included) but Foxhole has something no other game has ... the game's name sounds like some furry adult content and in 2022 can you give me any other game with a name like that? No you can't! So if you're deciding to buy the game go watch an actual review or alternatively watch my other vids.

    In all seriousness devs really need to revert sniper ammo. It was somewhat balanced before since sniper rifles were more of a support tool to eliminate high value targets (medics, engies, etc). Now it's really broken. You can no longer worry about missing shots, since 7.62 is too damn cheap and you can no longer worry about target for same reason.

      They should make the colo sniper take normal rifle ammo and the warden sniper take sniper ammo. True Balance 🙏

    As a Warden, while I do love our sniper advantage, this is just broken.
    I get it helps logi, but they could've done literally any other item from the large list of changes that the union wants.

      Never have i made sniper rifle ammo as a logi, its a waste of crates that could be fulfilled by shirts or something that moves the front.
      Snipers encourage eternally defending a single spot and being useless.
      A machine-gun could defend a garrison building 5x better but its usually used up by a guy pixel hunting riflemen..

      @@fluoridegood4you622 yea.... you haven't seen enough snipers that go hunting. It's a powerful weapon, and can be devastating when used in a push. A MG is great for mowing down numbers, but the sniper gives you a fear/anxiety factor that is quite nice.

      @@faasnuhind8578 ofcourse i won't see snipers go hunting, they're off being effective, i usually see em occupying the single garrisons/town hall windows at night when we need enemies fended off.
      Don't get me wrong; they're apt to be polite & fire from the tops of MG garrisons/heights... but that's not pushing a front.

      @@fluoridegood4you622 it's a weapon better left to experienced players. Whenever I'd see a no rank with a sniper I'd just cringe internally, especially when there was a crate's worth of ammo for the entire faction

    It also doesn't help that they've made snipers early-game tech for multiple wars in a row now, when they used to be late-game tech. Tech trees have really been awful lately, whoever is making them needs to be reassigned.
    And remember how they made the tactical camera change to make getting shot from offscreen less common? Oh wait...snipers got increased range too.

    I don't think sniper ammo needs to return. It made sniper more trouble than they were worth logiwise. Tweaking function and cost on the rifle itself would probably create a better balance while still making sniper rifles available in small numbers.

      See, I personally didn't give a toss about the sniper ammo, but I do get where it made the sniper a lesser option to a Lancaster. If they dialed back the range on the snipers to how they used to be, I feel that would balance it back out.

      @@faasnuhind8578 just make it take longer to stabilise, so you can't just quickscope like right now. And make collie sniper cripple player(slow them down to a crawl when hit) and fire fast enough so they can finish off the crippled player. Right now when hit warden still can walk away, and the auger restabilise so slow it can't get off a following shot.

      @@anhduc0913 nah make both of them one hit kills with the warden stablizing faster and being able to make large adjustments with out losing stablility, and the collie rifle having a higher firing rate, losing less stability when fired, but losing alot of stability when looking around. With the goal being the warden sniper being better at finding and taking out high priority targets at a long distance, and the collie sniper being able to skirmish with infantry staying just out of long range rifle fire being able to wipe out infantry who are clumped up with follow up shots. Finally the overall the effective fire rate of these weapons should be comparable with collies have an advantage at closer ranges and the wardens at farther range, with the rifles themselves being fairly expensive and containing the same limited amount of ammo(like 4 rounds per mag).

      I don't really play, but they could also bump the ammo cost. Leave them firing rifle rounds, but make it cost like 15 bullets per shot. The change was made to simplify logistics, the consequence is simply that snipers now use a more commonly crafted ammo that's in higher demand, making them cost more to shoot should help to smooth that out.
      If anyone asks why, it's simply because only one bullet out of that bunch was the right quality for sniping.

    as someone who played sniper extensively before and after the update, I think they should keep the idea of the sniper shooting rifle ammo, but they should up the cost of producing the sniper in itself. In War 89, there was sometimes where I could find like 22 of them in a BB, and half the infantry at the front was equipped with one which was frankly ridiculous.
    And also, yeah, they should make the colie sniper like the Warden one.

      The raca has a slower fire rate, slower steady time, half the magazine size of the Collie sniper. The Warden weapons are built to be more damaging per shot, as well as longer range. Colonials get larger mags, on average, way better steady times, and higher fire rates. The Colonial Sniper can one tap as well, it's just less likely due to all the other edges it has.

      @@faasnuhind8578 While the colie sniper have its advantages, the problem is that the reduced damage defeat the primary purpose of a sniper, which is to kill key targets while they don't expect it. With the colie sniper, even with high rate of fire you give your target a good time to react and go to safety, which is a huge deal. I got the feeling that they intended the colie sniper to be more of an harassment weapon that keep the ennemy frontline bleeding, the problem is that a good medic on their side will pretty much negate what you are trying to do, and there is not much you can do about it except making him bleed (in which case he just need to go back/behind cover and use one bandage on himself)

      @@rodrikofharlaw6848 thats because it's damage range primarily falls below 100. It maxes at 105, but dips down to 80 or so. The Raca starts at 100, if memory serves, to make up for its shortcomings. Most Warden weapons have higher base damages to make up for fire/cycle rate and magazine size.

    I like the change in ammo. It makes no sense that ammo for a rifle should be a rarity. What should be rare is the rifle itself. As someone who likes sniping I'm perfectly fine with an increase in cost for the rifle. Again, the rifle should be rare the ammo should not.

    Unless I capture a Warden rifle I am useless and it is impossible to move on many fronts, Logi is now even MORE of a pain because all we do now is pump out shirts because the snipers are too powerful.

      @@bbKp3K tried. but almost impossible to hit a target when they do fast movement. like, scope in this game is not working as like scope in tps or fps in general. in my experience.. i need to waste 1 clip to kill 1 - 3 running and maneuvering soldiers. is sniper balance enough? nope... they need to increase the building cost a little. but from gameplay mechanic... its already balance and as how its gun role used to be

    As a Colonial, the ammo change made our sniper USABLE. However, it made the Warden's broken as heck. Honestly, if they wanted the weapons to be balanced, they should have removed the accuracy penalty from the Colonial sniper. There's no reason to have an additional accuracy penalty on top of the fact that it already does half the damage. It's just dumb. Literally the only time I've killed someone with that gun is by spamming it and relying on RNG.
    Anyway, it's stupid imbalances like this and more that convince me that this is the first multiplayer game with difficulty settings, where Wardens are on easy mode, and Colonials are on hard mode. The devs recently nerfed howitzer garrisons, so now our tried and true tactic of letting the Wardens waste all their tanks on our defenses and then counter attacking doesn't work anymore. We're always undermanned, always at a clear tech disadvantage, but the devs gotta nerf Colonials further because they don't want the Colonials to surpass Wardens in wins. Seriously, because Warden gear is just that much better, it is making Wardens play worse.

    I remember when sniper rifles were first proposed and everyone was against it because it'd be OP. This certainly hasn't changed my mind.
    Restricting snipers by making logi more difficult isn't really a solution either, it's a shitty mechanic that just makes the game needlessly complicated.
    I can think of one mechanic which might help:
    - The sniper rifle has a very limited field of view when scoped in, like maybe a radius of one man height. This would force snipers to work with spotters the same way mortar players do instead of just making it an über rifle.
    - When the sniper moves his aim his vision blurs and accuracy decreases. It takes quite a while (maybe 30 secs) for the accuracy to come back up. This means that only players standing dead still in the open are at serious risk.

    You'd think a game that often devolves into World War I era trench battles, when there's never enough explosives or manpower to destroy fortifications (when is there ever?), would not encourage even more sniping. Because what's more ideal to take enemies out from trench-to-trench, fortification-to-fortification, in this game, but a sniper rifle?

      Yeah, now good luck actually hitting anyone in that trench, unless they climb out of it. The way cover works makes sniping targets behind it a pain.

      i guess both sniper rifles belong to different niche. warden sniper maybe more suitable for sneaky shooting from afar but collie sniper is more suitable for facing infantry moshpit

      at least you guys get the lamentum near the beginning of the war. Sniper rifles should also only come 1 or 2 techs after those are unlocked because those are the best counter to tripod weapons. Ratcatcher sucks.

      Perhaps a solution could be to make our sniper rifles significantly more expensive whilst also coming with perhaps 3 instead of 5 rifles per crate. Also make your guys' sniper rifle one shot kill whilst sniping from short to mid range.

    Whatever happens with the sniper rifles, they should equalize the damage, then make one gun heavier with more rounds. Then make one target faster, and the other fires farther. Done. FTFY devs.
    So Colonials: Lighter rifle, faster targeting.
    Warden: Heavier Rifle with 2 more rounds, longer distance (but not by much).

      @@kaleidoscope3234 That's the whole point of sniper rifles, to have advantage at a distance. It's far too easy for an enemy to close in on you a few steps and be at an advantage with a rifle. I'm talking about how things were before this update, when you had a limited amount of sniper rifle ammo. That was the tradeoff.

      Warden's sniper is more damage, meter more range, and much longer reload and targeting, Collie sniper is faster accuracy, lighter damage (though it can get 1 shots occasionally), and faster reload.

    In every previous war I fought in, sniper rifles were a rare commodity that almost never saw combat. The one or two times I captured an enemy M4, (I'm a little green man) I spent most of my time with the weapon scrounging around for 8.5mm ammo, then realizing the ammo hardly existed and I was never gonna get any. I would then dump the rifle at a nearby base and grab my good old Argenti instead.
    Now I can hardly stick my head out of a trench without getting my head popped like a grape. Enemy snipers are everywhere. Once I was part of an offensive push that completely stalled because of like, two enemy snipers. They killed our medics, they killed any soldier that dared stick their head out of the trench, they even killed our mortar crews when they tried to advance. They never ran out of ammo. They just kept killing.
    I'm not a fan of either extreme. If you want my two cents, go back to the old system but make the ammo and rifles slightly cheaper. Maybe reduce the rmat cost. I'd like them to exist, but not so much it makes the game painful. Well, more painful than it already is anyways.

    Honestly, the sniper should have always been using rifle ammo. Just increase the cost of snipers 3-4x

    1)make sniper rifle itself VERY costly to show how giving powerful optics, something that not every officer or AFV can enjoy, to regular infantryman would impact you industry. And how rifles actually had to be tested, rezeroed, had mounts and other modifications for optics added for them.
    2)allow it to keep using regular ammo, but lower the damage and dramatically increase spread at longer distances. Sniper ammo is hand loaded and weighted for a reason. Regular factory ammo would have too much variables in aerodynamics, velocity, center of mass and so on to be precise.

      call me a liar or whatever, but as a warden, I use the Auger over the Raca whenever I can, because I find that the niche the Raca fills (erasing tripod operators, medics, and entrenched defenders) doesn't come up as often as people might think, while the Auger, although worse at the aforementioned roles, is better at everything else, and is especially good at keeping infantry pushes in check and making the ennemie's bandage supply go down the drain. It's just a very nice all rounder that the buff just made even nicer.

      @@beeflord because you can't quite do the same thing with the Raca, as it loses much more stability when you move your mouse, and also takes much longer to stabilize. It excels in its niche, but it's much less flexible than the Auger. It's the same for most warden and Collie equipment

    I mean realistically snipers are, excellent in warfare. Hiding somewhere and taking pot shots from saftey is very effective, and its how warfare has progressed.
    You cant stand out in the open guarding an objective when their may be snipers around.
    BUT, is this fun?

    Meanwhile in our universe.
    as a warden player, i keep crying with map posts BRING US SNIPER RIFLES, and everyone like, in 5 mins... 1 hour latter 5 more mins... Until you actually go back to the logi towns and make them yourself, or else you will not be able to play with them...
    and then after delivering a crate, all 5 sniper rifles just disapear... and you find them on dead bodys rushing enemy defenses.

    Ok come on. There really not that OP unless your in a bunker or pill box. (In which case you are vulnerable to artillery fire)
    You have to be static to use them properly, your slow to move with them while there in your hands, they cost precious R-mats, and they’re useless at night.
    I like the new meta for them.

      Before the change a well supplied, good sniper could really hurt any attack
      Now a rando with a sniper can hold off an entire attack
      I personally almost never hide in a pillbox or bunker when I am using the sniper rather I bush hop and rock hop staying JUST behind the friendly front line.
      Yes it takes practice to use a sniper properly but now it is just too easy

    I never liked the idea of snipers in video games anyhow.
    You carry a rifle that can kill a man with one shot, which can be shot from a very large distance so you can always see them, but they can't see you, and as a sniper you will often act smug how "skilled" and a "specialist" you are.
    If they put limits to Snipers, by making sniper rifles difficult to operate and making them a limited class like in Red Orchestra, snipers actually have the purpose to assassinate special units instead of shooting anything that's in sight, what they are ment to do. The moment anyone can carry a sniper, that's when it's just becomes frustrating.

    Honestly? Increase the cost of sniper rifles, buff the Auger's damage and lower ammo capacity so it's equal to it's warden counterpart.
    No reason for the Wardens to get all the fancy toys while the Colonials have to make do with rocks and spears.

    I have a few ideas as to how they could rework this. Not sure if these ideas are any good but I guess I'll give my two cents.
    First off, maybe they could be re-chambered to take 7.92 instead of the standard 7.62. This would make ammunition not as dirt cheap and easy to get a hold of, but the ammo also wouldn't be as non-existent seeing as several other weapons use that ammo type (which is why most logi never made any, because originally the snipers where the only guns to use 8.5, which took up valuable vehicle inv space).
    My second idea, which is probably the oddest of the two is. Just get rid of the Augur, and make the Raca a universal weapon similar to what they did with the shotgun. If the Raca was made universal that would completely remove the whole balancing problem. Doing this would put both sides snipers on an even playing field.

    Idea:
    remove the sniper rifle, instead, create the scope, an attachment for the rifle (like bayonet or the old grenade launcher), when equipped, let's say that it works in some pretty dumb way and it is installed on the bullet receptor and now each 7.62 only gives 1/5 of the bullets the base rifle receives
    Snipers now require:
    a rifle
    a scope
    and burn ammo faster
    and the scope could be made heavy, so snipers get a limited amount of ammo they can carry before they get over encumbered

    Either revert Sniper's back to 8.5, or chamber them in 7.92 so they are slightly more rare and or expensive.
    Along with a complete Auger rework. Make it either a bolt action, 6-8 rounds, and a 2 shot max. Or keep the existing Auger, and make it kill in 2-3 shots, no down.

    What?!?! You mean the weapons that were already great got QOL updates, and everyone realized they were monsters? And people are mad that the Wardens get a sniper rifle that has only two advantages going for it over the Colonial version, but those edges are damage and range? No way! Half the ammo per mag/clip, worse cycle rate, worse steady time of its Colonial counterpart, but the Raca has a range advantage and guaranteed damage. Yea, that's pretty much every Warden weapon that I can recall, with a handful of exceptions.

      Yes very good but we don't have high accuracy guns like the wardens. We need to crouch or stand still to able to hit our target. Would be nice if some of you pro sniper players played more than 1 second on the other side to understand how dogs hit it is. There's a reason why the devs have already removed them from the game.

    Sniper rifles of that era are just regular rifle with scope. It's literally the same as rifle that regular infantry use. Just with scope added.
    So making them use the same ammo as rifle is reasonable.
    And balance by making them have same damage as normal rifle.

    Imagine not following the basic "Fire and move" and expect to survive in a shooter. Foxhole already does you the courtesy of limiting the range of basic firearms. Sniper is the only gun in the game that feels realistic.

      Foxhole is a game and when a game's infantry combat boils down to everyone sniping eachother from 50miles away some would call that a boring gameplay loop. So much so that the devs realized this and have removed it from the game. If you want realism just go enlist in the army they have the most realistic guns mechanics.
