I've been skating for 15 years, could do Frontside Kickflips but could never do them Backside. After watching this video I managed to roll away with 4 of them. The secret is really in the back foot position and wind up really helped with the rotation. Still need a lot of work but I'm psyched to roll away with this trick after struggling with it for so long. Thanks Ben!!
So stoked when I saw this pop up. Love your content. First found you when seeking advice on plasterboard butt joints. You helped me fix my ceiling after we took a wall down during a kitchen Renovation. Now, your helping me learn how to backside flip again after 20 years off the deck. 34 years old and addicted to skating again. Cheers mate 🍻
thanks for saying you lost them for 15 years. I've been skatring intermittently for 10 and I really struggle with everything. I've probabaly made 1 year of progress which bums me out. hearing you lost a trick for a long time is reassuring theres still time to learn
What you said about the back shoulder makes a lot of sense! I do that instinctively with frontside 180 tricks, but not backside. Gonna give it a go next sesh
Yes, but Ben would tell us something about the nuance of paint drying that we just hadn't noticed before, though it logically makes sense despite his ability level of paint drying being considerably higher than our own ;)
Proper 90 degree catch Ben! It helps to think of the varial flip scoop to 90, catch, then land. I also sometimes do a regular kickflip catch on the nose like a nose manual and pivot the rotation. Depends on the day.
Back in the day its easy for me to do those in Banks & for some reason a Halfcab kickflip is easy for me on flat. Think i should relearn BS flips again later today. Thanx Ben great tutorial vid
Thanks for the wonderful trick tip. It is a real help for sure. I know you mentioned that this is one of your favorite flat-ground tricks. It is one of mine as well. But I was wondering what are your top 5 favorite flat ground tricks, and, if you have time, why?
Is that a DIY paint job on your deck? Your tutorials are so much better than Braille. Those guys rock but I'm more your age and your explanations are superior. Keep shredding mate. Respect from Scotland.
Thanks for this, I can tre flip and frontside flip 10x more often than i can land a backside flip. I dont know when but at some point i just lost them lol.
Watching your vid, youre like, back foot on tip of tail, yesterday i fixed my bs flip by standing more in center of tail. Then you go on to say that "if you ride a mellow board, its ok to bring your foot further in.
Just a quick note, you never get your shoulders around. Every time you land them you roll away backwards. I tried to focus on this for backside 180 and I was just twisting all funny. Focusing on the shoulders didn’t help me much. Thanks for the entertainment and advice though. I enjoy all your videos.
Don't stop with the science in trick tips. Knowing how a steep to mellow kick behaves differently is important I think. But that's just me who is trying to learn to skate and over thinking everything...

Great video !! Is it just me or are scoochy bs flip more satisfying than a perfect bs 😅👏🏼
I wouldn't know. I can only do one😂
I'm sure if you make a video about watching paint dry I would click without thinking.
Thanks for the tips.
😂 Thank you!!
watching that paint dry slowly in a 3h video

Ben, I landed my first kickflip yesterday! appreciate the videos, keep grinding

Depends on the board for me. I actually find the mellower the deck the easier I can do these.
Just Keep Skating That makes sense, the concave totally affects the flick.

Nice the foot placement is the setup I already had, just learning the proper catch now
How did I not know you have 3 channels?! NOT FAIR! Glad I watched you hit that 5 stair rail or I'd never have known 😀
Nice one off the orange ledge 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks for this, I can tre flip and frontside flip 10x more often than i can land a backside flip. I dont know when but at some point i just lost them lol.
Do you recommend try it flat or out of a bank?
ive always wanted to be more of a scootcher. Im gunna go try some!

Thanks Ben! I remember my first BS Flip too. I also remember Fight Fire with Fire, but the only clip I can find is Markovich.
The whole video is on youtube and decent quality too.
Just Keep Skating Thanks! I guess someone finally uploaded it.
Great tutorial!
Good wednesday morning from Miri, Sarawak.. Another awesome tutorial Ben..
:D
I don’t have the skooch one because it’s harder for me. I always do the full 180 one because it’s easier for me.

Any chance we can get a front foot impossible tutorial, Ben?
Nope. Can't do them.
Great video Ben, Cheers. :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Very important part is to flip before the pop (in your brain).
Good stuff Ben

Gonna pop my bs flip cherry after watching this vid. Also, can you do a tutorial for impossible, full cab heel or inward heel?
Impossible trick tip next !!! I can only do it switch for some reason
Funny i only use 2 bolts on my trucks to
Varial heel? :D
THANKS BEN!!!! 🙏😁

Pivot aka "the scooch"
Perfect 👌🏼
I hope one day when I do a bs flip tutorial vid I will refer this vid at the of my vid.
The way I learned is I just did a varial flip and spun a 180
i was JUST looking for BS flip tips!!
you should use 80s action movie montage music for your montages
but can you Bruh flip?
Can you make a tutorial on fs 180?
I think he has one on his main channel if not vlskate has good tutorials
Do frontside flip! 😁😁

I feel like I’m going to be able to learn bs flips before I learn regular bs 180s
👍👍👍👍👍👍

What is your top 5 favorite flat ground tricks?
You didn't really talk about the flick
That landing isnt that smooth cuz it's not a full 180. You spin it to completion when you're on the ground, that's prolly where that sound comes from
Not fair, my backside flips have no slide
Hey ben how's your day going
Super sweet.
I have been wanting to get better at mine!
Btw, Braille Revive deck?
Did he just call it scootch? 3:53
lol from how to ollie to how to backside 180 kickflip.
Ben Degros keep riding those Fallen shoes and lose those Nikes forever please and thank you.
