This is from my Facebook post 9 years ago after seeing the Yes concert the night before when Yes toured for the first time without Chris on the stage. "at the beginning of their show, the stage was dark and empty except for the blonde Rickenbacker bass that Chris was famous for playing. It was on a stand under a single spotlight, and their song “Onward” was playing while videos of Chris were displayed on the screen in the background. A very touching tribute to even casual fans, for fanatics like myself, it was a nice way to say “goodbye” to an artist that has given us over 40 years of incredible music.
The first tour after Chris Squire passed away ,Yes commenced the concert with this track playing and only CHRIS’S guitar on stage and background photographs of him. I think everyone was near to tears. Really enjoying your reviews of my favourite music . You are truly lovely people with the love of music in your hearts.
Chris Squire wrote some great songs for YES. When he passed they played this as a tribute to him at the beginning of the show, with his yellow bass in his spot on stage with just a spotlight.
I love watching you react to progressive rock that is new to you. I lost my Wife in 2022 at age 50. She was my prog listening partner. Thank you for bringing me some joy in my world of despair. ❤
Yes were not known for Love songs, but when they touched on that subject it was always perfect. But what they always did was take the listener on some fantastic journey. You still have a lot more to discover from this incredible band.
My favorite band of all time, Yes! It's impressive that you can listen to this absolute gem of a song without tears. Chris wrote it in honor of his wife's devotion while he toured constantly. It must have been so difficult, even though they were selling out stadiums to be without your family night after night. I've never heard this live version, so thanks!
That's my fave song on that album, and one of the best of the pretty/beautiful mellow Yes songs. Some other Yes songs in that category are Turn Of The Century, Wonderous Stories, To Be Over, Hearts, Nine Voices, and a lot of sections like that mixed into songs, like the Soon section of Gates of Delerium. And Jon Anderson has a million solo albums with amazing songs like that, including the new one that came out a few months ago which I highly reccomend. Chris Squire died a while ago, but if I remember right I think his wife died before him which is why they weren't together anymore.
Chris Squire was responsible for some great Yes songs or riifs e.g I've seen all good people, parallels, fish, Sound chaser, Tempus fugit, on the silent wings of freedon and his live bass solo in Ritual is a show stopper. When I first started listening to them they had taken a year out to do solo albums and Fish out of Water by Chris Squire is a timeless classic.
This is a work of beautiful music, and lyrics. This live version is from SLO 1996 concert, amazing how the band seem to perform so exquisite, almost as if they are acknowledging the beauty of the song for Chris?
I love those big smiles. I think this video would be a great one for you guys to see Yes play live. It's from their Symphonic Live tour in Europe in 2001. The song is called In the Presence Of. th-cam.com/video/X_KDXoMB5wg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=A-GCV1mK6VpAL2O4
My dad hated Yes. When I listened to The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Tales, or Relayer, he couldn't bear it. He made me turn it off - too "jumpy" according to him. One night, just as we were sitting down to eat dinner, I put this song on in the den. After a couple of minutes, Dad asked, "Who is this?" "Uh, that's Yes." "No it's not." "Yeah, it is, Dad. That's Yes." "Can't be. I hate Yes, but I really like this song. It can't be Yes." I convinced him by showing him the album cover. "The rest of the album like this?" "No." "Then turn it off when this song is over." "Yes, sir." That was sweet. Thank you. Carry on, my friends!
Although you just listened to a Chris Squire song, I'm still not sure you're ready for the really funky version of YES where Chris' bass guitar contributions absolutely dominate their early masterpieces with his Industrial-Melodic inspirations. When you're ready to check _that_ flavor of YES music out, I recommend *Yours Is No Disgrace.* Like Roundabout, it is dense with musicianship in parts, but they keep returning to the melodic theme. You'll see...
I've been missing you guys reacting to Ren xx 'Money Ties' has just come out and i know you both would enjoy this one,a beautiful message, love to you both :D
ONE MORE TIME: I vote by "ideology", because "talk is cheap" and we have seen what the Leftists have done to America !! ...and that was a great song. lol
One of Yes' loveliest songs. Great guitar work from Mr. Howe, and anything with horns gets to me. 📯 ☮💙🎶

Yes music is timeless. It will be played centuries from now.

Beautiful YES❤
Great song and I love their expressions to the music! It reflects what I feel inside.
So many Yes fans have used this song as their Wedding song.... Beautiful Chris Squire Song... Sang Perfectly by Jon.
Wow what a beautiful song 😢
This song is magical in my opinion, most Yes songs are !
The original studio cut has a beautiful string and horn part. On a later reissue of Tormato they included the horn and string parts isolated.
. YES
The greatest show on earth
✨️🎶👑🎶✨️

The Universe created music specifically for you two. Your reactions make my day beautiful. Thank You 🥰

Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It's a good wedding song. You got a taste of YES now it's time for "Close to the "Edge".

I like this version better than the album
Written by the late Chris Squire. Chris adding the harmony.
