    I wish I bought these when I was still living in NZ. I test drove one, was really impressed but held back in buying it. Now I moved to Melbourne, and cars here are really expensive, especially the rego. I guess that's the benefit of being able to import cars from Japan even though the commercial market has the same model - keeping car buying costs down. Now I'm in a major FOMO.

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Open diff doesn't really make the car better IMO. Get a torsen LSD or even a clutch type and give the rear end minor toe in. Bout 0.1-0.2 degrees. Even if the back end steps out, it wants to correct and get back to center so it won't hang out. Car is so much fun to drive in those cases and can be pushed. Plus its very predictable even on wet roads. Its such a pleasure to drive now with the headers too. Really inspires confidence when driven hard. Very linear power delivery.

    They are a fair compromise between sport and luxury, the brother has one and my only gripe is that the interior has the same design language as a Hino truck; vertical plastic panels with buttons on them. It takes proper dedication to daily something like this in NZ I bet. Respect. I want an IS F in the States. Nothing is going to tick all the boxes like this car does. I think my initial reaction is "man I want an AMG or an M car". But the reasonable side of me would say that this car is the one you can live with every day and not lose sleep over. If anyone is driving a legitimately used C63 or M3 as their only car, they've got their nuts in the wind if you ask me. Gotta own two cars with one of those. The IS F just needs tires, preventative maintenance, and fuel for the V8. And that is why I'd buy the car. A reliable, smooth V8 with a really nice cabin space.

      I own the Fuji speedway edition , ya it is a bit hard to get used to I think it puts out quite a bit more power than this isf that’s also why the c63 and other cars are harder to control, it’s a lot more power to the rear wheels, it’s just basic science. This isf does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds which is slow in terms of racing world. The rcf Fuji does it in 3.9 seconds which is still not the fastest but it is significantly different power. The isf is also a lot more balanced on weight I’m sure due to it being a 4 door sedan.

    Hey mate thinking of picking one up as there’s a few cheap ones on our market, Trying to stay away from the Ford & Commys.. Quick Question How good is the driver space/Legroom? Are they any comfortable for big & tall people?(6’2) Does it have much room in the rear for a car seat / toddler? Wish there was one around my area I could view and test drive but there are none in my area Il be travelling to purchase it. cheers man🎉

      Hey man, drivers seat is good, boot is good, but the back seat is reeeally tight. I’m sure you could make it work but it’s definitely not a super practical car. RS4 and C63 have more room. M3 is compact too

    Hate to be the critic, i had an IS-F -08 and let me say, i love Lexus, due to its customer service and reliability. But considering i have experienced such a wide range of cars, i never really felt as the ISF was complete. It was too stiff for being a long distance car, as a person who is 6"2 (189cm) i sat too high in the car, the paddel response was too slow for a sportscar and the open diff was slipping out of most corners on the track. So i sold it after 6 months. Although for the money i still cant think of a better car in the category:) Today im driving a IS200 Sport and thrashing it on a daily, and im having as much fun in that🕺

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah fair enough. I've always maintained that a car's flaws make it great. Driven a lot of cars that are much "better" than the ISF but they somehow lack soul. It's hard to explain. But the ISF always puts a smile on my face

    So cool, I was hoping it’d be this car. Super nice and in a colour I don’t came on OzDM cars.
    You’re the first person I’ve heard who’s reviewed the car and said it’s smooth and comfortable.
    IIRC, every review of the IS-F when launched in Oz described the ride as harsh and choppy to the point it was detrimental to the handling. Maybe there difference in the spec of JDM to Oz cars.
    Love it, totally envious and especially love the Q car appeal of it. Never liked the exhaust stacking though.

    I just bought an 09 as well in blue and I love the car but the ride is shockingly hard, I thought the shocks were broken at first, hitting a bump feels like getting a brick to the nuts, is yours the same?

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @sircefiro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @vb7037
      @vb7037 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sircefiro Honestly I'm getting used to it, I just was not prepared for a Lexus to be that hardcore. I had a BMW 335i on KW coilovers and I have a Miata on coilovers and they are both considerably softer than the F. I did notice the sway bar bushings need to be replaced though so maybe after new end links and bushings and some 18s with more tire it will be better. Appreciate the help.

  • @dtengineering1
    @dtengineering1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope your ISF is better than the IS250 that I have been driving for the last 3 years - Toyota dumbing down the electronic systems to the lowest common denominator drivers. Good luck with your journey but I think your Accord Euro videos were so popular because the car is plentiful and is not regarded as a high performance car but you were able to improve it so much with relatively few and affordable mods. However the IFS is rarer and already goes very well so I am not sure you will have the same outcomes. Good luck though.

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว
