As a southerner, it baffles me that that guy thought he was such a genius for suggesting a pulled pork sandwich like it was an epiphany. He is right though. Pulled pork sandwiches are a staple in North AND South Carolina. And pretty much everywhere down south.
I watched this with my born and bred north Carolian wife and she loved ya'll's reaction but she says you didn't fry the liver mush right if it was that mushy. And don't ever call Cheerwine cherry pepsi lol.
Cheerwine is one of my personal favorites. But when they were like, "this pork would be better if we put it on bread" I was screaming THATS WHAT WE DO! ITS A PULLED PORK SANDWICH!
In North Carolina we usually put the pulled pork in a sandwich with BBQ sauce and coleslaw, it is so good. I am glad they all liked Cheerwine, it is really a trademark drink of North Carolina. And livermush is typically served with breakfast so I usually drizzle maple syrup on it to make the livermush a little more enjoyable to eat.
"You know what would be even better....is if we made that a sandwich....You're the smartest man I've ever met!" That's exactly how we eat pulled pork bbq here! BBQ sandwich is not a new concept! I don't mean to be insulting, but as a NC native, I just find that amusing. ^-^
I am from Salisbury, NC. After reading the comments, I was surprised to find that some North Carolina people have never heard of livermush/liverpudding. I see it at every Foodlion..Neese's livermush, right beside their sausage. I never liked pimento cheese, seen some people put it on their hamburger.
This is hilarious! I'm a North Carolinian, and I have to say that livermush is awesome and barbecue is the best food on the planet (haven't really been all over the planet, or even outside the US)
Would've LOVED to have seen their reactions when you told them the names. Livermush usually turns people off immediately. Could've also tried Liver Pudding or Scrapple! Those sound yummy! Pimento ("Puh-men-uh" here) cheese is a staple around the end of the month! Cheerwine is a nectar from God and you totally missed all the intricacies and differences of NC BBQ!! Great choices and I LOVE THE REACTIONS to what I consider daily fare! Love your videos!
Luke Gassaway I live in the east near the coast. We don't eat that shit over here, at least not like that. If it's around here it probably is only served in mom and pop places.
I live in NC and hate livermush..lol. I don't even like Cheerwine all that much but I'm told frequently that it makes me a traitor to my state to say that. What do you have as a side with bbq?! Coleslaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, potato salad, fries, chips, macaroni salad...whatever you want. Eastern bbq (vinegar based) is fantastic topped with coleslaw on a bun. Ok, all bbq is good that way, but I'm a huge eastern NC bbq fan.
First off...Thank you Motovo! As a North Carolinian, and someone who lives 1,500 miles away from the Old North State now, it's nice to see some of my favorites again :) Second...Maggie: there is a plethora of sides you can have with BBQ! Personal favorites are cornbread, fried okra, hushpuppies, and/or mac & cheese. Third... I can understand why people don't like livermush, but I'm kind of surprised that people can't stand pimento cheese...
I am in loooooove with livermush . Me and my family eat it all the time for breakfast but mine never looks like that XD. I guess It depends on how you cook it. But livermush is delicious I don't care what anybody says.
South Carolina eats all of this except the vinegar based bbq sauce(you'll get your teeth knocked out if you try to cook that in SC) we use mustard based sauce like what was in your South Carolina taste test video. Good video tho, I don't know what was so bad about any of the foods they said they hated, I love them!
Hold the phone crackerjack, Pimento Cheese is not a "north carolina" food, its found all through the South. It didn't even originate in North Carolina.
+LongRange Bob But most commercially-available pimento cheese spreads are made in North Carolina, and have been for so long that it's become the state most synonymous with it.
I live in nc and I've never had pimiento cheese or sweet potato pie but they sound good. also never had liver mush but i used to eat liver pudding. not bad, from what i remember it just tastes like spices. and vinegar pork bbq? that's what i call normal bbq lol
Oh man, I'm so sad you didn't do Calabash! But Cheerwine is delicious. Tip: get an ice cream maker and make Cheerwine Ice Cream. You will not be disappointed.
Born and raised in NC and I happen to agree with the "3 out of 5" part. I hate pimento cheese and liver. My mama made both of those things ask the time when we were growing up and I can't remember a single meal where I was happy to see it on the table. But we were pretty much dirt poor so you ate what was put in front of you and you were grateful for it.
Lived in NC for over a decade and never seen or heard of these items. Barbque is pretty straight forward but don't expect anything else in the capital area.
Do Texas! Frito pie (Texans don't do beans in chili), chicken fried steak with white sausage gravy, slow cooked smoked BBQ brisket, fried okra, Tex-Mex tortilla soup or enchiladas, food truck brisket tacos, pecan pie, peach cobbler with blue bell vanilla bean ice cream... Don't forget the ranch dressing!
Fan of pimento cheese. Never would I try livermush. Never had a cheerwine. But vinegar based pulled pork, sweet potato pie, you can't beat it! Not native, but as close. Move to NC in '74 @ 2yrs old.
To the woman who asked what side dish you eat with the barbecue that would usually be served with coleslaw, potato salad, or grilled okra and slice of white bread. Also, pimento cheese is gross but you Californians eat kale? You should try a dank-ass burger. This is a hamburger stuffed with pimento cheese with chili and bacon on it.
my page is showing no comments, is this for real or something wrong with my browser, either way this was way funnier than I expected it to be and I'm glad I found another channel with funny folk trying different things, 2:36 those faces LOL
Amazing! I love these videos! If you dont mind, coud you do one about Washington beers? Perticularly, Hales Beer! I wouod even send you beer in the mail to try! PLEASE DO WASHINGTON!!! :D
im from NC and havent ate one of those things.... heres a list of foods i eat(southern stuff) fried chicken( i know) mashed potatos with a big scoop of gravy rib eye stake steak and gravy chicken and spicy gravy southern style ham(it is big and not sliced it taste way better) southern style ham with gravy and biscuits!! fried ocra my favorties: fried chicken, mashed potatos n' gravy southern style ham! rib eye stake! spicy boiled penuts!mmm mmm! thosee r my favorites! mabey do a foods from NC art 2 now u know what we actually have..
born and bred in NC.. dont know what the fuck livermush is. Cheerwine is heaven, Vinegar based bbq is Heaven.. pimento cheese is alright.. Sweet potato pie is the same damn thing as pumpkin pie. Use pecan pie instead to rep NC!
so liver mush has to be with a fried egg on a sandwich. oh and get some californians that are out of diapers next time to try the food. was funny though, and where did you get that pimento cheese, worst looking I have ever seen, and it does make a difference.
I live in NC and, while we do have Cheerwine (which is boss), sweet potato pie (which is pretty good), pimento cheese (which is... okay), and vinegar based pork barbecue (which is somewhere between those two), I've never seen livermush. That was the one universally hated.
I always end up feeling sorry for these people. One, for thinking they're funny. Two, for having horrendously underdeveloped palates. 3, for thinking about what drive-thrus they probably consider good food and eat regularly. I'm no health nut, but seriously, it's embarassing to watch people not know what a lot of the foods in these videos are, and getting paid for it...
So, I am from North Carolina and... 1. WE DONT EAT LIVERMUSH 2. That bbq had the right sauce, but the pork, WHERE DID YOU FIND IT. The meat was not cooked right. 3. yes, this video made me kinda mad.lol.
Someone should inform the guy that called Cheerwine a North Carolina version of Pepsi, that Pepsi was created in North Carolina.
As a southerner, it baffles me that that guy thought he was such a genius for suggesting a pulled pork sandwich like it was an epiphany.
He is right though. Pulled pork sandwiches are a staple in North AND South Carolina. And pretty much everywhere down south.
pulled pork is a sandwich you just have to put coleslaw on it and BAM freakin delicious! NC native here
I watched this with my born and bred north Carolian wife and she loved ya'll's reaction but she says you didn't fry the liver mush right if it was that mushy. And don't ever call Cheerwine cherry pepsi lol.
Cole slaw is the side dish for the barbecue. Also, that sweet potato pie is waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too light, it should be orange in color.
From nc and love all those foods you should have added sundrop in it tho
"You know what would be even better....is if we made that a sandwich....You're the smartest man I've ever met!" That's exactly how we eat pulled pork bbq here! BBQ sandwich is not a new concept! I don't mean to be insulting, but as a NC native, I just find that amusing. ^-^
"Why are we cooking meat any other way?" 4:21. Best question 23 years.
The redhead chick doesn't like anything she eats, what the hell does she eat????
Fried liver mush is amazing! I'm from NC and have ate it all my life
This is hilarious! I'm a North Carolinian, and I have to say that livermush is awesome and barbecue is the best food on the planet (haven't really been all over the planet, or even outside the US)
This all beats the hell out of avocado covered veggie burgers with fried kale on the side. And they ate few of it the right way.
Livermush is so yum to me, but I guess it's one of those things you had to grow up eating to really 'get'.
California is truly another country.
It looks like they forgot to add the sweet potatoes to that pie. And someone please tell that woman that you don't cook BBQ in a slow cooker.
You serve the bbq always with coleslaw and baked beans. And to answer your question, yes they do make bbq sandwiches with that exact same bbq
You guys lost me on knocking livermush. That's great stuff when it's done right!
As someone from NC I knew everything besides livermush, wtf is that? lol
+bigjames88 - It's pretty much only found in western NC, I think.
+bigjames88 I'm from eastern NC and I see it sold in stores as liver pudding. Usually I only see Neese's brand sold which I actually like.
+cynopt I'm from Georgia. I had livermush just outside of Asheville once at a little diner. It was ok.
Luke Gassaway I live in the east near the coast. We don't eat that shit over here, at least not like that. If it's around here it probably is only served in mom and pop places.
from nc huh? haven't heard of livermush must not he from nc after all
Haha this is hilarious. I'm from NC and have had everything they tried except for Pimento Cheese this past week.
I freaking love these videos!! They make my day so much better!!
I live in NC and hate livermush..lol. I don't even like Cheerwine all that much but I'm told frequently that it makes me a traitor to my state to say that. What do you have as a side with bbq?! "In between spam and poop" really got me. I'm dead
livermush is the shit i grew up on it just like sausage
First off...Thank you Motovo! As a North Carolinian, and someone who lives 1,500 miles away from the Old North State now, it's nice to see some of my favorites again :)
Second...Maggie: there is a plethora of sides you can have with BBQ! Personal favorites are cornbread, fried okra, hushpuppies, and/or mac & cheese.
Third... I can understand why people don't like livermush, but I'm kind of surprised that people can't stand pimento cheese...
Uh..... Sundrop!!!!!
That didn't look like real sweet potato pie to me! I don't blame them for not liking it.
I love pimento cheese on celery.
I am in loooooove with livermush . Me and my family eat it all the time for breakfast but mine never looks like that XD. I guess It depends on how you cook it. But livermush is delicious I don't care what anybody says.
I just love you all. You never fail to make me laugh!
Bless their hearts. That Pimento Cheese was laden with so much mayonnaise, I'd likely spit it out myself. And slow cooker? *gasp* smoked!
Man, those guys should try some Wisconsin food!
We got some, Colby... Some parmesan...
Wait a minute.
This guy does know Pepsi is from nc right
You guys win!! Best thing I watched all day!!
That's fantastic - as always. And as always made my day! Please keep them comin' :)
South Carolina eats all of this except the vinegar based bbq sauce(you'll get your teeth knocked out if you try to cook that in SC) we use mustard based sauce like what was in your South Carolina taste test video. Orange haired girl is so dang picky!
I live in nc and I've never had pimiento cheese or sweet potato pie but they sound good. also never had liver mush but i used to eat liver pudding. not bad, from what i remember it just tastes like spices. and vinegar pork bbq? that's what i call normal bbq lol
Livermush? I'm from North Carolina with both city roots and deep southern roots... but I have never heard of nor tried livermush.
Love these videos, hope to see more
"The majority of your cuisine is palatable!" Classic line. They all looked so betrayed by the livermush. LOL
Oh man, I'm so sad you didn't do Calabash! But Cheerwine is delicious. Tip: get an ice cream maker and make Cheerwine Ice Cream. You will not be disappointed.
Lived in NC for 30 years and never heard of livermush
YAY a new taste test video!!
Maggie cracks me up in every single video
Lived in NC for over a decade and never seen or heard of these items. Barbque is pretty straight forward but don't expect anything else in the capital area.
North Carolinian and I love livermush, hate pimento cheese though lol
Do Texas! Since you keep doing southern food (what can I say, we do some thing right) can you PLEASE do one of non-Californians eating California food?
Fan of pimento cheese. Never would I try livermush. Never had a cheerwine. But vinegar based pulled pork, sweet potato pie, you can't beat it! Not native, but as close. Move to NC in '74 @ 2yrs old.
I bet if yall framed this experiment differently they would of had a different reaction.
You killed me at "cat food."
What kind of sweet potato pie is that? lol
It's just food that we NC people eat. It's not like it's poisoned.
To the woman who asked what side dish you eat with the barbecue that would usually be served with coleslaw, potato salad, or grilled okra and slice of white bread. Also, pimento cheese is gross but you Californians eat kale? You should try a dank-ass burger. This is a hamburger stuffed with pimento cheese with chili and bacon on it.

so liver mush has to be with a fried egg on a sandwich. oh and get some californians that are out of diapers next time to try the food. was funny though, and where did you get that pimento cheese, worst looking I have ever seen, and it does make a difference.
i'm from North Carolina and haven't ate half of this
I don't have any idea how they came up with Livermush! I assure you, less than 1% of the population of NC would eat that crap!!!
no one in NC eats liver mush.
Cheesus take the meal!
I'm happy you guys made this video!! Hope you enjoyed. But livermush.... Gross
Georgia taste test!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As someone from nc, I hate liver mush
That is a sandwich bbq sandwich
I live in NC and, while we do have Cheerwine (which is boss), sweet potato pie (which is pretty good), pimento cheese (which is... okay), and vinegar based pork barbecue (which is somewhere between those two), I've never seen livermush. That was the one universally hated.

I live right at the NC/SC border and I agree Livermush is disgusting!
I don't like pimento cheese but that was way too dramatic.

I always end up feeling sorry for these people. One, for thinking they're funny. Two, for having horrendously underdeveloped palates. 3, for thinking about what drive-thrus they probably consider good food and eat regularly. I'm no health nut, but seriously, it's embarassing to watch people not know what a lot of the foods in these videos are, and getting paid for it...
what the fuck are these? I haven't tried these and I live in NC you should have me choose the good food for you
So, I am from North Carolina and...
1. WE DONT EAT LIVERMUSH
2. That bbq had the right sauce, but the pork, WHERE DID YOU FIND IT. The meat was not cooked right.
3. yes, this video made me kinda mad.lol.
+laura brady - I'm from NC and livermush was a staple food in my house growing up.
Im from north carolina and dont like any of these....thanks for giving a bad rep
