I remember being tasked every week to polish my fathers dress shoes using meltonian shoe cream an nipper in the early ‘60’s. I was paid the princely sum of half a crown for the job.

what do you know about the OLD Meltonian Leather Balm made in Britain by Reckitt & Colman, London. I have an almost a full jar and it's its still a soft creme. It doesn't list what in it but I'd like to know if you have any information.

Glad to see Meltonian is back! Heck, maybe Shinola will come back as well!

Wait, Shinola was an actual brand of polish? I've heard countless times people use the phrase "You don't know shit from Shinola!" when I was a kid, but never actually thought much about what "Shinola" was. It makes sense, now.

Is there a way to reconstitute Meltonian Cream #6 light brown? Price tag is $3.25 so it must have been purchased a while ago. Thanks

Aren't Naptha derivative solvents basically cancer in a can? I mean I use Meltonian and am really happy it's back, but didn't know I was handling naphtha...
I liked and really do appreciate the video!

I used to use Meltonian & just bought a couple of jars of the new formulation. IMHO, it stinks! Literally: it smells of cheap perfume or too much air freshener. The nice person at Meltonian customer support said it was to mask the aroma which would otherwise be like "engine oil". I guess if you buy Febreeze in 55 gallon drums, you'll like this stuff, but ... not for me, thanks.

What a rough childhood. Long hours. Barely fed. Working his fingers to the bone. Indentured servant in the back of a cobbler shop. Even as an adult, haunted by the smell of Meltonian shoe polish. Almost as bad as growing up in the back of Panda Express. I'm still haunted by the smell of sweet and sour sauce.

I thought petroleum caused leather to break down? Guess I was told wrong.

I have friends and family that are very allergic to honey and beeswax. Having a good alternative for shoe care is very important to them.
