    Fabulous show. Bruce Stewart, the scriptwriter, who was a New Zealander, previously worked in radio as an actor. HIs most famous role was as Major Gregory Keene in a series of Australian radio serials: Dossier on Dumetrius, Deadly Nightshade and 26 Hours.

    I had a teen crush on Liz, in between Wendy Padbury and Gabrielle Drake. When Jenny Agutter came along it was real love.

    My sister and I adored this series when it was aired by the ABC in Australia in the early seventies. I wished I could find a timeslip like Liz & Simon's at my primary school!

    I really liked this as a kid. Its amazing how Peter Fairley could talk utter codswallop with such gravitas and authority we all believed him.

    Very interesting. I was 26 in 1970 and at work. It seems I missed a treat!

    There's a 5-6 minute section on the U.S. version of the DVD series which includes interviews which i think are from this feature length documentary. This sounds really cool as i'm a great fan of this series!

    I'm so surprised that nobody has posted any of the Timeslip episodes up here on youtube! I thought just about all 70s tv was on here. There's loads of Tomorrow People, Doctor Who, etc here...and Timeslip was every bit as innovative, prescient and affecting at the time.
    I was 9 at the time and it had a profound effect on me. I was gripped by it and the ideas it posed would ring around my head for a long time afterwards. It really fired kid's imaginations and triggered a love of sci-fi for many.

    Nice seeing this. I have the story "Year of the big burn-up" on tape. I was a bit of a fan. 70s' sci-fi was so of its time.

    I remember this in black & white, then in colour. Never understood the plot of the programme - but then I was a youngster then...showing my age now!.

    I loved this programme, I wish they re-show it or at least remake it.
    I remember the theme tune being faster though. I wonder if they used more than one version during the life of the series?

    I liked this series when i was a kid, along with The Tomorrow People, I have to admit, i did have a crush on Cheryl Burfield ( Liz Skinner in Timeslip) but they were two of the best children's TV programmes on at that time. The BBC of course had Dr Who, but ITV didn't do too badly back in the late sixties and early seventies - let's not forget The Great Gerry Anderson, and all of the shows he produced also.

    ITV should re-make this fantastic series. It still has great unexplored potential and could have run for much longer than it did. Brilliant documentary.

    @proff180 Thank you so much for the information, It's much appreciated.
    I was wondering If you also watched Alexander the Greatest in 71-72. It was a comedy sitcom, young Jewish boy living in Golders Green. I'm asking because I'v been trying, unsuccessfully to locate the theme tune, which I still find myself singing from time to time...I'v found out Barry Blue wrote it and I have msged him to see if he can point me in the right direction but so far alas....... no cigar.

    ANYONE KNOW THIS TALE ???
    Somewhere around 1980 I watched a mystery on TV. A currrent US Senator or Representative at the time told an old story which ran in the family. The story goes like this;
    Two families, pioneer forefathers of his, were trekking West in their wagons when in the desert they ran out of water. In desperation the men went ahead with containers should they find water. In the middle of thr desert the men came across a petrol filling station with a shop. The men filled the containers and hurried back to where the women and children were. They did not manage to find the filling station again. In this story the men took a card or brochure of a modern car with them which I believe is still in the family.

      Did they drink the petrol (thinking it was water) from the containers when they got back?
