Valaya was love at first sniff for me. For me it's quite versatile - can be worn to a brunch, to work, I even see it as a bridal fragrance for the spring and summer months.
They snapped when they made Valaya!!! Period! It reminds me of molecular fragrances like Le Labos Another 13 or Glossier You but ramped up to perfection. Such a superb fragrance!
I purchased Valaya as a bind buy and I love it! I’ve only worn it a few times. However, I received an overload of compliments. This fragrance is very light and airy with great longevity and mystery. I agree definitely not a beast and wears similar to La Rosée. I love it!
This review is spot on. The fruits, flowers and musk are anchored in the dry airy flowy ambrofix. It really does feel like dry sheets blowing in the wind. It’s super long lasting on my skin.
in fashion they have the it girl at the moment, where she walks all the runways. now in fragrance they have the it nose at the moment. he's only been around 8 years and he has created more than 100 perfumes to his resume. quite impressive. at the rate that he's going, he'll be beating the legendary alberto morillas for the number of perfumes that he created.
I have tested this one yesterday and it is, indeed, very beautiful. However, when I hear you listing the notes, it just strikes me how PdM charges these insane prices for predominantly synthetic or affordable materials while also copying other trendy perfumes. This world is crazy, and I believe it will do amazingly well... Cheers to the niche world.
Quite a few items used by perfume houses of yore were luxury items that were unsustainable and animal products that became either prohibitively difficult to obtain or deemed illegal by regulators. So once they unravel the formula for one item, they will have to change the whole thing. I’m not entirely against using the synthetics, but stop the price gouging please! 🙏🏼
I am wearing Valaya today for the 1st time after blind buying it and I love it, I have received multiple compliments it’s Crowd pleasing and for a freshie very long lasting and projecting, still not sure if it is worth the hefty price tag though…
Hi Sebastian. I agree with you with this not being a beast scent. I even think it falls more in line with Initio's Hedonist collection because it's more of a subtle fragrance and relaxing. In conclusion, I couldn't commit to it though. 🖤 I also mentioned that Fleur Narcotique was reminiscent of this one. We are on the same page. 🖤

I smelled this at Nordstrom and loved it, so muc better than Delina and its flankers (Rosee isnt bad I guess). It's also much better than fleur narcotique. I ignored PDM because of how much I couldnt stand Delina. Safanad is nice, but this Valaya is their best female fragrance so far. That said, its too expensive so I will pass and I really wish luckyscent would do better and provide 2ml or 5ml decants with sprayers like ScentSplit. Dabbers are for the birds. Anyway TFS Sebastian
This is obviously a wonderful creation for the coming spring and summer! Thank you for always giving us the low-down on these new releases...I am very impressed with Quentin Bisch.. he is trying to outdo Mr Ropion! (Never! Lol) BUT, he will go down as one of the greats! An amazing perfumer!
Keep in mind Ropion has much more experience, but with his creations for Marc Antoine Barrois, Quentin Bisch definitely put himself as equal to Ropion, at least! I’m sure there will be many more and there will be trailblazers, like Ropion created POAL
Another ethereal woody amber? Son of a Bisch. 🤭 He does know how to use synthetics though. A skill that will only become more in demand in the future I think.
I generally dont like orange blossom but i keep gravitating to Valaya. I have a test strip that i got 3 weeks ago and cant still smell it on my bedside table. 😊
When I first smelled this at Nordstrom it was just "nice" on first spray...but then I took the sample home and smelled it like an hour later and OMG IT IS GORGEOUS!!! It's so beautiful and soft and feminine. I also smelled Delina La Rosee which I LOVED on first sniff but liked the dried down better on Valaya.

This one sounds really pretty - soft, elegant, airy. I've heard some say that it has a pressed shirt vibe to it, but with more pronounced florals. I'd be interestedf in trying it; however, I doubt it is one I would buy unless I got a good deal on a travel spray that I could just use at home from time to time.

I have been stuck on Hermes Eau des Merveilles, ,which I still love. But now I'm thinking I might buy this one after ordering pdm discovery set. I like that it's not too sweet.
I purchased Valaya on a blind buy expecting a feminine, white musk, with a floral and white peach touches, and was very disappointed. Valaya is extremely woody and musky on my skin with very, very light whiffs of white peach on the back ground. No floral or fruity notes on my skin other than for a few minutes at the opening. As a female, I would say Valaya lacks the "feminine" touch, the "lady enrobed under the white linen sheets". I was expecting a lighter, more ethereal version of "Musk Therapy" by Initio. Maybe the synthetic molecules just don't work with my chemisty.
I feel the exact same way about my experience with Valaya. And also Musk Therapy. I’m wondering if musk just doesn’t work for me or it’s the molecule thing. These 2 were both just kinda blah on me.

I really like this fragrance. In terms of PDM “for her” collection, this is tied for Number 2 (right after Delina)-with Meliora. On me it lasts all day and can fill a small space…very happy with my purchase.

Good review Seb! Know some ladies who were quite disappointed because the marketing draws a sensual feminine fragrance, but this is quite synthetic masculine. There is a Quentin Bisch release from last year for Jean paul Gaultier "Le Mâle Pride Edition". Here the notes are even closer to Valaya, for just 1/3 of he price ;)
Hey Sebastian, I think you mentioned you burn candles as well as obviously enjoy fragrances. And it makes sense that fragrances on skin have top middle and base notes. But do you know if it's possible to have those three layers be differentiated by burning a candle?
I don't think about top, heart and base for candles. But this weekend while working on taxes I discovered Candle Layering. Go figure. Burning two different candles make some interesting smells and amplify one another! I'm sure you've done this but if not then I recommend it.
Hi, I did a comparison with Woman in Gold of Kilian and they have quite similar notes in the top and base notes. The middle notes though are totally different.

I don’t understand this fragrance. I get zero airy or breeziness. There are some aldehydes in here that are immediate yuck to me (personal preference). I feel like both the ambroxan and the akigalawood are overkill. I probably would have preferred one or the other, and to kill the aldehydes altogether. Sprayed on tester paper, it smells more well-rounded, but on my skin it is a blast of alcohol-y woods, and 10 minutes in has taken on a really medicinal ‘cough syrup’ smell. Maybe after an hour it will mellow out a bit, but so far I am not into it on my skin. I wish it had more fruit to balance the woods.
I love Parfums De Marly fragrances but I don't generally go out to smell the female offerings. I've smelled a few but I don't really care for any of them. Quintin Bisch has the Ganymede Extrait coming out for Marc-Antoine Barrois and frankly, the original Ganymede is strong enough. I can't imagine what the extrait will smell like but I'm not that interested. Nothing from Marc-Antoine Barrois excite me. I've tried them all several times and they're just not for me.

Wearing Valaya more and the musk (Ambrofix) and orange flower are potent. This fragrance is elegant and I love it.

I don't know how I feel about PDM anymore, I was really expecting more from them, especially with Oriana, so I'm not sure about this house anymore.
I don’t understand this fragrance. I get zero airy or breeziness. There are some aldehydes in here that are immediate yuck to me (personal preference). I feel like both the ambroxan and the akigalawood are overkill. I probably would have preferred one or the other, and to kill the aldehydes altogether. Sprayed on tester paper, it smells more well-rounded, but on my skin it is a blast of alcohol-y woods, and 10 minutes in has taken on a really medicinal ‘cough syrup’ smell. Maybe after an hour it will mellow out a bit, but so far I am not into it on my skin. I wish it had more fruit to balance the woods.
I love Parfums De Marly fragrances but I don't generally go out to smell the female offerings. I've smelled a few but I don't really care for any of them. Quintin Bisch has the Ganymede Extrait coming out for Marc-Antoine Barrois and frankly, the original Ganymede is strong enough. I can't imagine what the extrait will smell like but I'm not that interested. Nothing from Marc-Antoine Barrois excite me. I've tried them all several times and they're just not for me.

Smelled this one at Neiman this week and its very generic smelling to my nose. Nothing special and def for that de marly price.
