Lovely description! I am not a floral fan but would love to smell this. I have 5 PDMs now, Oajan was the most recent one, the next one will be in Spring and it’s Meliora. I blind bought Valaya last month, after watching your video. I love it! I even grab for it more than my recently acquired (late to the party, but finally made it) Delina. I know some people say it’s not very unique, however I own nothing else like it. It’s so refreshing and personal for me. I’ve made a huge dent in it so far! I can’t keep my nose away!! 💝

It used to be my friend's signature in 2005...I never thought I could pull it off, although I'm mesmerized by the scent trail it leaves. Thanks for the in-depth review, Chris! This sounds like a PdM that I might enjoy given the citrus and white florals. I haven’t found anything from the house that I jive with. I don’t mind synthetics, but when they’re new and branded, like the “Nympheal” listed here, as a consumer I have no idea what that is supposed to smell like. It’s why I really enjoyed your great description of the scent-thanks! Kim

You paint such a helpful and lovely image of Valaya, but despite that i don't think this fragrance will be for me. I'll definitely try it out but I'm glad you put emphasis on the heavy musk and watery quality that's similar to Delina la Rosee. . Qualities i really didn't enjoy. I’m not a big fan of first impression videos either, so thanks for wearing it over a few days before reviewing. I got a sample of this from Nordstrom and am very impressed with the longevity. I love the dry down of this also.

Have you sniffed the flanker of Girl of now called Shine? How similar are they? I blind bought Shine because according to the notes might be right of my alley but I’m not enjoying it, there’s something in there that bothers my nose

Great job on the review of Valaya Chris! I think you painted a lovely picture of what it could smell like. I wonder if the base is soapy? I think of cotton fresh from the dryer when I think of cotton because I have never experienced cotton plants growing or in bloom. I am curious about the direction of that cotton note. Aw thank you. I think it’s MUCH more similar to FN than Musk Therapy. Musk Therapy didn’t even enter my radar when I wore this. Musk Therapy is much fruitier , less floral and the musk is completely different (IMHO). ❤️
Yes!! I’m considering decluttering Fleur even though I love it so much…but yes they are so similar. Don’t really need both…unless you are crazy perfume reviewers. 😂
This is such a great video!!! I think this would be the safest bet for me to blind buy from this house. I am wondering with how many people are able to only smell things like BBW fragrances, would it be possible to compare or contrast them to those scents also? I know the quality difference can make it feel redundant to try linking the two. I am so curious about this perfume yet a still hesitant because of how much I loathe scents like Sea Island Cotton from BBW. I’d love to know if you find the cotton description comparable to one another and if not break apart the differences. Then I can shove myself out of the house and smell things at BBW to verify if I can go out on the blind buy limb more readily.

I love musk but I find the one in Delina to have a little too much bite to it. There’s something harsh there. That’s why I prefer La Rosee version. Is this musk softer than the regular Delina?
I would like to see your system for storage, can bottles be stored flat , I recently put my summer perfumes away but had to lay some flat,in their boxes
Lol. As we speak I’m putting together my new storage system for everything to fit. Previously they would go in their box , moved to a dark closet and set upright. I don’t lay them down but I’m sure you could. Most important is away from light and fluctuating temps….esp heat. Direct Light and heat are killers.
Love Quentin and Fleur Narcotique too. Fragrantica lists the perfumer as Quentin but the Parfums de Marly site lists Valaya’s perfumer as Julien Sprecher???🤷♀️

Unfortunately I wasn’t into it enough to splurge so much on it. The orange blossom did remind me of oriana. It smelled more like a designer fragrance than a niche one. Didn’t come close to Delina for me 😢
I save up some money and don’t know which to buy… in my List is: Valaya, Oriana, la roseee OR Memo marfa o. Sintra or Good girl gone Bad Kilian- please Help 😅😢

Hi, my first impression of this beautt is Narciso Roduiques Poudree… I looked it up on fragrantica snd saw that it was allready listed as “Reminds me off” fragrance ❤ Still like it 😄 But if you dont have the coin, Poudrre is very similar I think.
Hi there!! Oh I so WISH those NR cubes worked for me. But the musk in those I just cannot do. I prefer the musk in his rectangle bottles. But that’s great if you get a resemblance to it because you are right. It is certainly cheaper. 🥰 How lovely it is we all pick up something different.
Your best bet for this new release is to try out in store. It might take a few weeks or more for fragrance sample companies to buy it and start generating samples. I like ScentSplit, Scents Gift, etc.
As you were describing the notes I immediately knew you were going to say fleur narcotique...I dislike fleur narcotique and kayali déjà vu, so my wallet is safe 😅😅beautiful bottle tho
Sure! I got mine at Jomashop. Prices go up and down depending on inventory. You just have to be patient. They were on 50% off sale right before Christmas. I try and send out alerts on my IG stories when they happen (and any other flash sales I get wind of)
@@olenakopystynska3654 just make sure it’s a well known reputable site (FragranceNet, FragranceX, FragranceBuy.Ca, Jomashop). I would strongly advise against buying an expensive niche perfume from Amazon or eBay unless you know exactly how something smells do you can spot a fake. Lots on both sites unfortunately.

I think you painted a lovely picture of what it could smell like. I wonder if the base is soapy? I think of cotton fresh from the dryer when I think of cotton because I have never experienced cotton plants growing or in bloom. I am curious about the direction of that cotton note.

Aw thank you. I think it’s MUCH more similar to FN than Musk Therapy. Musk Therapy didn’t even enter my radar when I wore this. Musk Therapy is much fruitier , less floral and the musk is completely different (IMHO). ❤️

This is such a great video!!! I think this would be the safest bet for me to blind buy from this house.
I am wondering with how many people are able to only smell things like BBW fragrances, would it be possible to compare or contrast them to those scents also? I know the quality difference can make it feel redundant to try linking the two. I am so curious about this perfume yet a still hesitant because of how much I loathe scents like Sea Island Cotton from BBW. I’d love to know if you find the cotton description comparable to one another and if not break apart the differences. Then I can shove myself out of the house and smell things at BBW to verify if I can go out on the blind buy limb more readily.

They are different enough but there is something so feminine and elevated about Valaya.

I love musk but I find the one in Delina to have a little too much bite to it. There’s something harsh there. That’s why I prefer La Rosee version. Is this musk softer than the regular Delina?
It’s more similar to the musk in La Rosee…..IMHO❤️

I would like to see your system for storage, can bottles be stored flat , I recently put my summer perfumes away but had to lay some flat,in their boxes
Lol. As we speak I’m putting together my new storage system for everything to fit. Previously they would go in their box , moved to a dark closet and set upright. I don’t lay them down but I’m sure you could. Most important is away from light and fluctuating temps….esp heat. Direct Light and heat are killers.

Love Quentin and Fleur Narcotique too. Fragrantica lists the perfumer as Quentin but the Parfums de Marly site lists Valaya’s perfumer as Julien Sprecher???🤷♀️
I don’t think so because Quinten actually does a video about Valaya on the website. 🤔
Julien Sprecher is the founder and creative director of PdM. Quinten is the actual “nose” or creator of the fragrance itself. ❤️

Unfortunately I wasn’t into it enough to splurge so much on it. The orange blossom did remind me of oriana. It smelled more like a designer fragrance than a niche one. Didn’t come close to Delina for me 😢

Hi there!! Oh I so WISH those NR cubes worked for me. But the musk in those I just cannot do. I prefer the musk in his rectangle bottles. But that’s great if you get a resemblance to it because you are right. It is certainly cheaper. 🥰 How lovely it is we all pick up something different.

Your best bet for this new release is to try out in store. It might take a few weeks or more for fragrance sample companies to buy it and start generating samples. I like ScentSplit, Scents Gift, etc.

Sure! I got mine at Jomashop. Prices go up and down depending on inventory. You just have to be patient. They were on 50% off sale right before Christmas. I try and send out alerts on my IG stories when they happen (and any other flash sales I get wind of)

@@olenakopystynska3654 just make sure it’s a well known reputable site (FragranceNet, FragranceX, FragranceBuy.Ca, Jomashop). I would strongly advise against buying an expensive niche perfume from Amazon or eBay unless you know exactly how something smells do you can spot a fake. Lots on both sites unfortunately.
