      Seriously though. I cook them by the bone. I put the bone toward the coals to let it radiate heat inside the steak then sear aiming for medium rare.

    We get hormone free fantastic 16-18oz ribeyes with great fat content at our local Walmart. IMO it’s the store manager that makes all of the difference.
    We are carnivore and use Redmond’s real salt to dry brine them before slow smoking them to 115 degrees and then searing them on a 500 degree lump charcoal fire. Fantastic!

    You should try the Picanha from Wal-Mart. They're around $7/lb. I've had better luck with them and taste better than from a butcher shop at half the price. I usually find them by the briskets but not all Wal-Marts carry them.

    • @googanbbq

    Great video. What temp do you pull the steak off anticipating that the steak will continue to cooking when you pull it off to rest?

    • @googanbbq
      @googanbbq  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I pulled this one off at 128 degrees and it carried over to 135. I usually try to pull it 10 degrees under my target temp.

    • @googanbbq

      As long as you have a low temperature zone to slowly bring up the internal temp, then a hot side to quickly sear the outside, the method in the video should work great.

    That extra bone adds nothing but weight. It might look impressive but that's about all it does. It's a marketing gimmick. Just like grass fed beef is. With that being said, you can find good steaks at Walmart. You might have to dig through what's out and sometimes you might not find good ones, but most of the time you can. Buy them when you see them.
