When you remember that the base game doesn't allow for ocean colonies, but then Rising Tide added them, the arrival of the colony ship here becomes even more intriguing when viewed in-universe - the ARC had been trying to contact the incoming ship but hadn't received any response, then tracked its landing to the water. Imagine if they thought that the colony was malfunctioning, off course, going to crash into the ocean and possibly kill any survivors on-board - and then the massive jets fire and the colony instead lands and proceeds to float, perfectly intact.
Followed by being hailed by a large man with a heavy Scottish accent, or an uptight Korean man. lol
@@MrTreefozI would expect the North Sea Alliance to make contact before landing. However Chungsu seems like the type to avoid communication with any other faction.
And then the pilots told the people of their colony in awe what actually happen as the ARC tried to contact the somewhat mysterious floating colony to enter into diplomatic talks, and more
It's a shame they abandoned this version of the franchise, I really loved this Civilization game. I was hoping they would do like Civ 5 and make an expansion pack that betters B.E and R.T. I loved the lore of the game and how it left so much open to the player's imagination, but sadly R.T is the final chapter.
You never know, there may yet be a Beyond Earth 2 in the future. Just not the near future.
I think the reason it failed was the utterly boring leaders when compared to alpha centauri. Aside from that, the gameplay and lore was amazing.
Sid Meyer’s Starships is the next chapter
Although I will admit it was a bit underwhelming.....
I like playing Stellaris after Beyond Earth.... it’s a good continuation to the story IMO
@@nikobelic4251 Agreed. Funny you mention this, I actually just learned about Stellaris when I was considering on buying Starships (I was in the CIV mood). Stellaris has way more features than Starships, and it looks like the lore pairs nicely with Rising Tide's, so my head cannon could say that the two games share the same universe. Plus Stellaris has Steam Workshop items, whereas Starships does not.
@@Kehwanna Stellaris is light years better than Starships. Honestly it’s like comparing a mobile game to a PC game. With Stellaris you can be so creative, there can be so many options, different government types, ethics types, events, choices, especially when you add the DLCs (I got all of them) the game can be played for hours and hours and no play through has been the same, I have an embarrassingly high amount of hours on Stellaris and I still only win 50% of the time because the game is just so variable I love it. I got the Stellaris Base game on sale 50% off and honestly it would have been worth the full price. The only downside to Stellaris is that when the game updates or when there is a big DLC like Nemesis and the game mechanics change your old games fall apart. For example when I downloaded Nemesis the entire planet mechanics changed which essentially broke every single one of my past games. I deleted them all but was so excited to play with the new DLC I happily started a new game and pulled an all nighter playing a play-through.
And ohhhhh yes same my head cannon puts them in the same universe.
Essentially for me, the seeding happens, the planet is colonized, war erupts, one way or another (depending on the ending in Civ) the planet is unified and then they spread to the stars. That’s when Stellaris starts. And honesty there are enough origins in Stellaris to cover the endings in Civ Beyond Earth.

I love this intro, sets the atmosphere really nicely.
For a while I worked on my own fanfiction of Civ BE. A unified setting with all leaders and cultures, thriving but steering towards a conflict that would consume everything. There’s a light within its narrative, untapped. It could be an amazing sci fi.
I would love to read that.

the first half minute remains me of the movie The Thing
Black Guy Productions made a remake called The Thang.
Everytime I see this intro, it makes me angry how they screwed with Beyond Earth. This game still missing one more expansion. But since CivVI has to be released there no hope for this one to be finished. It is also reason why I never bought new one ... because why when you they eventually leave it unfinished...
What expansion might they have planned; what were you hoping for?

one thing that i was hoping that they would add was space combat, with ships fighting around the planets orbit and infantry invading city stations. But so much for that dream.

I want this game remade, where you have your sponsor which gives a passive bonus then you choose one of 3 leaders per faction Each leader will be a Caricature with focuses that shift gameplay. This would keep it from being boring, each leader can still pursue whatever affinity they want but they need some personality and a spark to keep interest for the audiences that must be spoon fed. Great concept this game was horrible execution

It's more likely that the ship was coming inverse to the planet's orbit. Thus adding the speed of the planet orbit. In the case of earth around 3000mph.

Lol. This... this is uh... this is funny. What else could they do to get the world to accept them again and not look at them all as Jew and Slav hating mass murderers. I sincerely doubt that most germans actually truly have a fiery hated for nazis (who no longer exist, at least not in the form they used to, and thus are a very easy target to hate. It's almost like hating dinosaurs). I'm pretty sure a lot of that hatred is either faked, or was drilled into the most recent generations by the last few generations in order to give the world a huge "we get it now, nazis are bad!" message.
But saying that most of Germany truly hates them.... again, like I said, in order for them to be accepted again by the rest of the world, what other choice did they have but to ban anything to do with the NSDAP.
INTEGR are Space Philosophers (which actually goes very well with German Traditions; we are more than Nazis, our history reaches much farther than to Hitler), not necessarily Ecologists.
And Lucien LaChance did you ever talk to any of us? Here's your chance and I can tell you: I hate the Nazis - more than fiery actually. They've betrayed everything our great Nation once stood for, perverted our ideals, our culture and destroyed our already flawed reputation for good. I do not say I speak for all Germans but a vast mayority probably regards it the same way.
The 2 strongest factions in beyond Earth were the Indians and Americans. risings tides added 4 factions, 2 of which were essentially kind of pointless/useless, in particular the Koreans were literally DOA because their entire shitch was Espionage and that was already a thing the US Did, The Americans were the Espionage/War faction who excelled at hyper expansionist/aggression/economy strats and their covert ops were better in every way that the Korean counterparts, Rising tides modification for spies only made them stronger.
I love how the vehicles in the fleet scene And the landing colony ship were accurate to what’s actually in the game. Good attention to detail.
The mechanic at the end look like Tom Cruise if you look from the side
It's funny that colony ship from BE intro have artificial gravity, but station in RT intro doesn't.
This theme would make for a good movie if done right.
