Do you guys know how hard it was to find a video with real thin lips?? Jesus, every other tutorial was already larger size lips. Thank you for this!

This! My top is very similar to the model in this video, not many of the artists that have made these tutorials actually have lips that need overdrawing like I do!

8 years later this video is still helpful and I must say...amen lol I have a thin uneven top lip and I even do TH-cam and thought I was the only one without full even lips lol

Your model was so lovely when she smiled!! :) She seems like such a sweet girl.
I will definitely be employing these techniques! I have a very full bottom lip and my top lip is quite a lot thinner.

Every time I think, "nah, I know what I am doing in that area, I can skip that one", but I end up watching anyway and I ALWAYS learn something. Always. It is clear you are an incredibly talented make-up artist but yet you always manage to make your videos relatable and achievable for the audience and have given me tips and skills that have grown my own confidence and ability so much. Thank you Lisa!

Avoid creamy, glossy lipsticks. Apply pencil and then only apply a small amount of lipstick patting the edges to thin the product out and soften the appearance X

@w no she shouldn't. Lip fillers look awful and they stretch your lip skin so if you ever stop getting them your lips look shriveled and even thinner. Her lips are fine as they are

Lip fillers don’t last long and they cost quite a lot.

I like rose bud lips like yours, I think they look really pretty. If you do want to extend the shape a little when wearing lipstick though just subtly fill out the area between the absolute corners (with your lips open) and blend towards the fullest bit of your lips - hope that makes sense, its hard to explain in words X

They can be anything you like, there is no set rule. It's really up to each individual. I had lots of tweets and FB messages asking me to do this video from girls who want to even lips out or increase the size a little (especially when wearing strong colour) but its each to their own X

    Lisa,
I just had to let you know that your tip about using a q-tip to put on lip balm, was so helpful! You showed how to put it on with the q-tip and then gently use it to roll over the lips to exfoliate. I have had such dry, chapped lips and nothing seems to work. But I tried this technique using some aquaphor on a a-tip. It worked beautifully! My lips felt so much softer and the cracks and dryness was so much better.
Thanks so much! Sometimes little tips can really help someone.

A classic Eldridge Technique: never over the top, only enhancing what's already there, beautiful but understated & elegant. I like it that it doesn't use goopy gloss/any of those "cliche" products to plump up lips/cheat the appearance of it. This is a real technique that shows a real makeup artist's skill. Brilliant!

I used a lip plumping gloss (no7) once, it plumped my lips alright and then caused scabbing and peeling which lasted for months. It contained cinnamon, which I have a mild allergy to- causes me breathing problems as well in large quantities ie scented pine cones. Love my Rodail balm, no probs there, but did try Sexy Mother Pucker very strong reaction, so l suspect that too contains cinnamon.... Read the packaging first (if you can)

Find a liner in your skin tone (MAC has some but I'm not sure they're lip safe) and apply that first to hide the natural edges - I find a pencil works better than just foundation, then... have fun trying different lip shapes! use a liner + lipstick, the darker the smaller they will look.

The problem with overlining is when the lipstick rubs off the lip but it stays on the outside, so you end up with a clown mouth.

It depends on the kind of lipstick you use. I overdraw my lips and never have my lipstick come off. It fades a bit in the center after eating and drinking all day, but then I just reapply a touch. :) I don't use lip liner, just Besame lipstick applied with a lip brush, blotted and reapplied three times. Takes about five minutes and lasts all day.

Oh she's gorgeous! What a cutie! I have fairly similar lips and I've been using some of these techniques for a while now. I actually think bright or red lips work well with thin lips since it makes every single part of the lip noticeable. My lips are very pale around the edges, making them look thinner than they are, but a bright lipstick and lip pencil emphasise every last bit of flesh without having to cross the vermillion border. Special thanks for the lip pencil post too! :)

Lisa, the tip to use a matte texture instead of gloss to increase the appearance of voluminous lips is completely revolutionary to me. But it does make sense now that I think about it! Hi lovely Lisa
I have a couple of questions that I would love your thoughts on.
1.Do you recommend sun protection/block in the eye and lip area? If so, is there one you recommend?
    2. Do you recommend waxing upper lip?
    3. Are you ever weary of harsh chemicals used in skin care products? If so, are there any you would recommend stearing clear of?
    Many thanks and much gratitude!
