    I’d love to see another built. With the 70mm EDF. clear acrylic or polycarbonate rods for the wings would look rally awesome in the air. The acrylic wouldn’t take a lot of stress but the PC should. Yes, it would add some weight over using carbon fiber. BUT, BUT, the floating wing effect would be worth it I think.

    suggestion! foam/styrofoam planes, set them on fire at launch and see who's stays in the air the longest. (i suggest you do that during winter so there is snow, so that nothing else catches on fire)

    • @Michallote
      @Michallote 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on winter most trees are dry, if you crashed it into a tree, which will likely happen given the conditions of the race, it will definetly burn up. Secondly burnt styrofoam is super hazardoous to environment, and its gases are not at all friendly to the ozone layer (Don´t get me started on burnt batteries for fucks sake). This idea sounds cool on paper but is super negligent. And coming from a chanel with hundreds of thousands of views could persuade others into doing it. It is definetly out of the table. Thank´s flite test for not doing this.

    The whole problem with that plane is the big gaps at the wing roots. I reckon put some clear plastic in there to connect the wing to the fuselage, but it would keep the same appearance when its flying. Those gaps will give bad flying characteristics, it loses a lot of lift and adds lots of drag..but it does look amazing!

    We had the Red Bull Air Race in Perth, Western Australia years ago. Matt Hall was still flying Hornets. He came to one of the races as an F/A-18 demo pilot and loved the competition so much he left Hornets for a pilot slot in the series. Honestly the Red Bull Air Race is one of the greatest sporting events you’ll ever see. If you have even the slightest opportunity to attend a race - make it happen! You won’t regret it.

    Wouldn't it be cool if you do an RC version of the Red Bull Air Race. Planes should be FPV and everyone gets the same engine and props, but the rest is totally up to the builder.
    And then just see who can fly a course the fastest. Every time another racer sets up the course.

    Aereospace engeneer student from Italy here.
    This design its intrinsically flawed:
    The trailing edge vortex are now not only on the tip of the wing but also between the wing and the fuselage. Making the lift decrease increasing the drag and creating turbolence.
    Those turbolences gets to the control surfaces of the tail, since the flux is not laminar the control surfaces doesn't work as expected Making it fly in a funky way.
    To fix it add a transparent plastic film closing the holes wile keeping the cool shape!

    • @siriuslywastaken
      @siriuslywastaken 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      carrapaz even better than plastic film you could just use solid plastic, then instead of having arms going to the wings they'd look like they're just floating while still having all the same aerodynamics as if the wings connected. Only issue would be visible wires but honestly that's not too big of a deal if they're small enough or in some corner of the clear wing
