+shamelesscoffee But as far as the light novels go, nothing changes. There's no change up, its just the status effect of being Ainz is quickly draining him of his individuality and the humanity, the very basis of having the main character be a normal human with normal morals. He doesn't even put any effort to fight the lack of morals he at LEAST knows on an academic level, even if he doesn't feel the impulsive nature of them. That's what Ainz was like for all of Season 1, putting him in a unique position. But then things just put Ainz on indifference auto-pilot so long as its not someone he knew from Nazerick or someone from Season 1. How are we supposed to feel anything about Satoru Suzuki if an highly objective "evil" or "indifference towards humans" is the main cause of any actions he takes? The world building is interesting but at some point, something has got to break.
I would argue that Ainz, while he is technically evil by alignment as a Lich and in the callousness he has towards creatures he has not formed bonds due to his lack of empathy, with an indifference to collateral damage harming bystanders, on a conscious level he does what he does to protect the people of Nazerick, not only because it's his kingdom built with his friends but he does care for the people he has promised protection to and that have impressed him. He saved Carne and protects those people, and tries not to scare people with by wearing the mask if he can help it. To me it seems while he is in the persona of Momon, he acts more like a hero partly as a role to further the fortunes of Nazerick but also, to me, to escape the harshness he has to portray often as the Overlord of the Great Temple. While he has no empathy on a primal level due to his emotional suppression, once he meets subjects and bonds with them he will defend them with every asset he can call upon. While many of these acts are calculated to build a foothold as a nation in the New World, his desire to fight the other tyrannical forces in the world, and the way respects and defends the allies that swear fealty to him honestly, speak to me he doesn't want to be so harsh. He is a nice guy... so long as you haven't gotten on his bad side - then you'd wish you were dead, yeah.

I love the lizard tribe and couldn't get enough of their side stories. Same with the goblin town. I know it's filler stuff but god damn it was fun to watch.
Never did I think I could care about Lizard Folk until this anime. Then I read their D&D lore in Faerun and thought the New World did a better job with them. They're just dumb in the Forgotten Realms.
Go look at the Lizardfolk of Q'Barra in Eberron; Keith Baker made something really cool with them in his setting, showing how a seemingly alien mindset does not necessarily equate to stupidity. 🐊
Finally. We managed to beat one of your bosses. Bosses? Nah man. That was merely the tutorial enemy. You ain't even gotten to the first level of this Dark Souls game.
In comparison to others, destroying a Lich was not a small feat. They stand no chance against Cocytus himself, but they put up a good fight against lower minions.
I keep hearing things about how the Lizardman Arc is "boring" or "slow" and honestly, it terrifies me to try to understand. What sort of attention span does that take. To think a thing like that. Anyway, that random thought aside, I was enthralled by this show's ability to develop even fairly tertiary non-human side characters and invest the viewers in their stake in this doomed conflict. I loved the steady series of treaties among rival villages (with a history of inter-tribal bloodshed and the well introduced lore of a previous war) that eventually built up to a coalition which was then forced into a charge into suicide. All that information through some great dialogue writing between the lizardmen, funny scenes and complete tragedy... and this arc is just a spec in the scope of all the things this series has to offer. When people throw around the word "pacing" as a negative in a situation like this or "boring" or "slow", I see everything I wouldn't want to be as a viewer. Holy fuck. Lay off the glucose and caffeine guys.
it was boring, i wanted to see ainz advance his kingdom not lizard people fucking like we only have so many episodes. ainz only took like that one town and the village and who knows when they're going to make another season

Congratulations for clearing the tutorial.
I loved the lizard folks in overlord i can't remember if the generals where brought bacl to life or not
They were.
Along with just about everyone who died i believe.
Hunter Hinkeldey ainz has that staff of resurrection which can revive low level beings with very little costs so nearly everyone was brought back
All but one of them because he was too low of a level
I see people complaining about the lizardmen arc a lot, but I thought it was awesome
When rereading overlord it feels very long and slow
Certainly one of my favorites displaying how the new world is affected by Nazarick
In comparison to others, destroying a Lich was not a small feat. They stand no chance against Cocytus himself, but they put up a good fight against lower minions.
If the lizardmen weren’t just npc’s than they might have been the actual protagonists
There are no NPCs. They are all real.
You are an actual moron for still thinking they are all NPC's even after all this.
ESO argonian warden tank against lich boss when party was wiped
What's the music track title for this scene?
only time power of friendship worked in overlord (unless you count Nazarick as the result of ainz and his friends)
"Cocytus arrives
"
Cocytus: warm up those buttocks
Doesn't want litch to use aoe fire spell, proceeds to use aoe ice spell....
The Lich was defeated and humanity’s development and progress will continue forward 🌊
0:50 MY EYE!
What’s the song name? I really like it
Episode 3: *Zaryusu gets a heroic mc flashback moment and wins*
Later in Episode 4:
Ainz: *SNAP BACK TO REALITY*
Everyone knows the best mage spells are melee lifesteal attacks XD. Those have historically been very powerful.
0:42 the lich looks like he’d be saying “ return the slab “
Awesome Overlord II Video.
It is sad when you think about the fact the lizard men still lose and are enslaved by ains
They have a better live than before they get food training and there isnt war.
It makes me chuckle when they think that was the strongest enemy they were going to face.
Fight lizard man! Fight! All our hopes and dreams lie beneath your scaly power! We believe in you!!
I felt sad when the elder lich died begging for forgiveness
when you realize hes the minion of the creation of the subordinate of ainz
And here we see a holier than thou bitch trying to sound smarter than he is
it was boring, i wanted to see ainz advance his kingdom not lizard people fucking like we only have so many episodes. ainz only took like that one town and the village and who knows when they're going to make another season
@@qwark287 He's not wrong. Your attention span would have to worse than someone with ADHD to find this slow.
@@aeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeae2144 Imagine if someone like you try to read the Light Novel. Dumbfuck.
Damn that Lich forgot to make a phylactery
8 episodes to build up a war between geckos and a scorpion only to be squashed by an M1 tank.
That must suck for the Lich. Instead of bringing honor and glory to his invincible king, he brings him shame.
if a lizard cant naturally warm itself with body heat and its in a blizzard the lizard freezes and dies...
Goodbye random servant. We will never forget your sacrifice .. What was it called?
Iguva 41, may he forever be in our memories
Lich: YOU MONSTER
Lich is a skeleton
But which is more of a monster
Even sadder when you realize this guy was freshly reanimated from the body of that Adventurer that was domed in the head by Mare.
And then they lived happily ever after
Yeah, for like a day
@@KhiemNguyen-ly1wz
*Four days.
That's more than most of Ainz's enemies. lol
@@randomcontent5416 Was it four days? I thought it was less than 2 days at most. Seems like Ainz just immediately attack them the next day.
@@KhiemNguyen-ly1wz
I checked again. You were right.
It was four *hours* till the second attack. lol
It was four days (till the *first* attack) when Zaryusu came back with Crush and Zenberu.
@@KhiemNguyen-ly1wz Not really, their lives changed for the best with Ainz. Lol, Cocytus himself respects the Lizardmen.
Let me tell you all something. I absolutely also got attached to rororo and was heart broken to see her like that.
That lich was the only casualty on Ainz's side
DANG THEY GODDAM KILLED DA JANITOR!!!
It was super unfair lizard men had to deal with enemies who were many times stronger. They never had a real chance.
wasnt he created from one of the corpses of the scripture that ainz destroyed, as a test subject?
no, actually the elder lich is one of the adventurer that ainz massacre in ep 12 of season 1
zenox bagaan episode 11*
He was created from the body of "Igvarge" that jackhole adventurer that insisted on following Momon when he went to investigate Shalltear's brainwashing.
@@batmeme9349 yooo really that's cool
@@payforoxygen indeed it was
Its amazing how no one thought that the Lich is Nigun Grid Luin given he was
killed off by Ains early on in the series.
TekkaSage who u mean the guy that called the super Angel?
That's because he isnt.
Nigun was completely vaporized. It was something that Ainz stated was inconvenient, since after he asked three questions, Nigun died and his body randomly disappeared. The 3 question rule applied to everyone from the slaine theocraacy as well, so it wasn't nigun
@@stefilduce7452 Was his name the same in the LN ?
@@cymes82 What do you mean?
