Meaning of the song explained by artist: ''I understand that my worldview is not going to be shared by everyone that listens to a Demon Hunter song. As a matter of fact, I write with the hope that this is the case. But apologizing for my beliefs is something that I won't do. This song is an admission of my often unpopular ideals, and a back-handed promise to snuff out whatever damage I may have caused with… you guessed it… gasoline.'' - Ryan Clark :)
The line "We can smother out the flames with gasoline" can also literally and figuratively refer to self-immolation. Pouring gasoline on yourself, before setting yourself on fire.... literally smothering out the flame of life with gasoline.
Lol Rammstein didn't invent the act of setting one's self on fire. Self-Immolation is method a purifying one's self which has been around for thousands of years. So, no, my intrepretation isn't stupid.
@@MrJordwalk while I would not call your interpretation stupid, I do think it's off base. At least from the stance of what the band's meaning was. But I understand where you're coming from.
@@mikestepp337 My second comment was a response to someone who thought my interpretation of the song's meaning was stupid, but that person's comment was deleted. That person seriously thought self-immolation was invented by Rammstein! XD At any rate, when I replied to the OP's comment.... that was my first time seeing an explanation of the song's meaning from Ryan Clark. Before that, I thought it was about self-immolation and this remains a valid interpretation.
Ha! Tha second verse tho. Shortest verse i have ever seen/heard...LITERALLY! Good song tho. I'm a new fan...sorta...well basically i like some of ther songs and this is one of them. This along with, " I Will Fail You, Death, Last One Alive, and The World Is A Thorn," are my favs so far. The rest ive heard we're either alright with a hint of awsome in parts of the song, ok overall, or just didn't peak my interest at all after listening to it.
uxen Thanks, one of my primary concerns is timing. Second to the lyrics being accurate of course. lol I've got some other lyric videos up. Take a look see.
Wolfie Inu When I seen "chocking" I actually sang it as "chocking", started to laugh, and inhaled some spit; and almost died; so I, in fact, did not see the double "L" in painful. At that time I was squeezing the tears from my eyes and getting a drink of water. But I'm glad I did not notice that one, spelling mistakes are dangerous.
