This is one of the few conspiracys that I do believe in but yes I believe that he was assassinated possibly by CIA operatives. He just wanted peace in Africa but it would have dealt a blow to American oil & business interests there. Mr Hammarskjold and an American soldier initially survived the crash but they found a bullet in his head and the soldier died due to poor medical treatment and I think that was to silence him.
The commission investigating Dag Hammarskjöld untimely death, recently appealed to the US National Security Agency in hopes of having all documents and radio communications declassified. To date, that request has been denied. The commission believes that all air traffic, in and around Zambia's airport, was followed and recorded by the NSA and possibly the CIA. Lets hope they come clean!
Fascinating story; intense fighting between the UN and Katangese forces erupt in Elisabethville and Hammarskjöld is killed as he flies to negotiate a cease-fire with the Katangese leader, Tshombe. I'm a little bit surprised there hasn't been any large movie productions about this, but, on the other hand, it's maybe somewhat of a sensitive subject still. Oh, actually, there's an upcoming movie about him, to be released later this year; not quite Hollywood scale, but that might be a good thing.
There is one releasing this winter called simply Hammarskjöld. Swedens highest budget movie of the year. Mostly English speaking, due to international context. Give it a watch! 😊
Thanks for another good post. Too bad there wasn't more footage.
