Dag.. 2,5 years ago in the summer of 2021 I remember sitting in the garden, reading about your life and person you were. Tearing up while thinking: " I wish I met a man like Dag Hammarskjöld.." Past two years, since Dec 2021, I really believed I had found him...But now I real use I still have to keep looking...Wish I existed back then in your lifetime ❤️

Fascinating story; intense fighting between the UN and Katangese forces erupt in Elisabethville and Hammarskjöld is killed as he flies to negotiate a cease-fire with the Katangese leader, Tshombe. I'm a little bit surprised there hasn't been any large movie productions about this, but, on the other hand, it's maybe somewhat of a sensitive subject still. Oh, actually, there's an upcoming movie about him, to be released later this year; not quite Hollywood scale, but that might be a good thing.

There is one releasing this winter called simply Hammarskjöld. Swedens highest budget movie of the year. Mostly English speaking, due to international context. Give it a watch! 😊

He was murdered because he wanted Africa to govern itself without the interference of the West. The west had interest in Africa's resources so they sent a British/Belgian mercenary to shoot down his plane. He was assainated.

Late sec.gen D.Hammarskjöld and his companions, killed by a fighter jet attack close to the Ndola airport.A huge conspiracy launched by the western nations and their mining interests corporations in the copperbelt (wealthiest geological area in the world between Congo and Zambia).Everybody knows there in Africa that he has been "removed" from the political scene by the western countries which were against the decolonization. The Tv show "Mayday" is a scam, for every person who has ever been in Ndola, knows that there is no hill close to the airport,It's almost flat. Two good books about the subject by a scholar and a journalist. Scholar Susan Williams : "The UN, The Cold War and White Supremacy in Africa" and Journalist Maurin Picard " Ils ont tué Monsieur H" this one is in French. The truth is the truth.

It is not the Soviet Union or indeed any other big Powers who need the United Nations for their protection. It is all the others. In this sense, the Organization is first of all their Organization and I deeply believe in the wisdom with which they will be able to use it and guide it. I shall remain in my post during the term of my office as a servant of the Organization in the interests of all those other nations, as long as they wish me to do so. In this context the representative of the Soviet Union spoke of courage. It is very easy to resign; it is not so easy to stay on. It is very easy to bow to the wish of a big power. It is another matter to resist. As is well known to all Members of this Assembly, I have done so before on many occasions and in many directions. If it is the wish of those nations who see in the Organization their best protection in the present world, I shall now do so again.

It is a honour to see this great man in his time and we owe a debt to all of those like him, all honourable people like this wise man who did his best to make better world and save the Katanga region Congo. He was a religious decent man who believed the good in people (and even small countries rights) and he stood for his beliefs untill death. The Soviet did everything to get rid of him just like the General Secretary before him MR Trygve Lie and actually succeeded and so thought he would give up so easily. The Russians accused Trygve Lie (his Norwegian predecessor) of being a pro American and eventually made him to resign, but Hammarsköljd stood up and did not give up.

And the USA too, because they didn't liked Hammarskjöld send UN soldiers to reunite the Kongo. The CIA helped to split Kongo because Katanga was the main supplier for uranium to the USA and after liberty they didn't want the Sowjet Union to make the business. Lumumbas killing was supported by the CIA too. Book recommendation: "The Devil's Chessboard" by David Talbot

Stop spreading one way propaganda, the western powers wanted him out also more than the russians. He was interferring with big buissnesses mainly mine companies that was owned by rich families.
