Welcome to Yachats, Oregon, a charming coastal town nestled along the stunning central Oregon Coast! You're in for a delightful experience filled with natural wonders, friendly locals, and a peaceful atmosphere. Let me introduce you to some of the highlights you won't want to miss during your visit.
Scenic Beauty: Yachats is all about breathtaking coastal landscapes. Prepare to be mesmerized by the rugged cliffs, pristine beaches, and the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. Make sure to take a leisurely stroll along the scenic 804 Trail, offering stunning views of the coastline and access to hidden coves.
Cape Perpetua Scenic Area: Just south of town, you'll find the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Hike to the top of Cape Perpetua for panoramic views, explore the old-growth forest trails, and marvel at the captivating Spouting Horn, a natural geyser that shoots seawater high into the air.
Thor's Well: Speaking of natural wonders, don't miss Thor's Well, a unique saltwater fountain located nearby. It's an incredible sight during high tide as the water cascades into a seemingly bottomless sinkhole. Be cautious and keep a safe distance, though, as the currents can be strong.
Yachats State Recreation Area: For a relaxing beach experience, head to the Yachats State Recreation Area. It's a great spot for picnicking, beachcombing, and even tide pooling. Keep an eye out for fascinating marine life like starfish and anemones in the tidal pools.
Historic Sites: Take some time to explore Yachats' history at the Little Log Church and Museum. This quaint building dates back to 1927 and provides insight into the town's past. It's a unique place to learn about the community's early days.
Art and Crafts: Yachats is home to a vibrant arts community, and you can witness this at the local galleries and shops. Browse through the works of talented artists, pick up souvenirs, or join a local workshop to try your hand at creating your own art.
Seafood Delights: As a coastal town, Yachats offers an abundance of fresh seafood. Be sure to try some local dishes like clam chowder, Dungeness crab, or fish and chips. Many restaurants here source their ingredients locally, making your dining experience even more authentic.
Whale Watching: If you visit during the winter or spring months, keep an eye out for migrating gray whales. Yachats is an excellent spot for whale watching, and there are often designated viewpoints and tours available for a closer encounter.
Remember to embrace the slower pace of life in Yachats and savor every moment of your visit. Whether you're seeking relaxation, outdoor adventures, or a connection to nature, this coastal gem has it all. Enjoy your stay in Yachats, Oregon!

Something that people don't realize is, Oregon may have only one National Park (Crater Lake, another MUST SEE) but you don't have to spend a lot of time with a map of the Oregon Coast to realize that the whole Coastline is covered with State Parks preserving all that beauty, hopefully forever. It goes TOWN, STATE PARK, TOWN, STATE PARK, Etc, ALL THE WAY DOWN THE COAST, from Astoria down to Honeyman Park and beyond.

That’s good to hear. When we travel to the coast it’s always seafood for us. We had really bad service at Yachats Brewing a few years back so we no longer give them our business. That and the fact we’re not eating a mushroom burger. 😂

Yachats Brewing was shut down earlier this year. The owner collected food tax for the better part of 10 years and never paid a penny to the city. He also made several unpermitted additions/changes to the building. It finally caught up with him and the Brewery is not going to reopen.

Too bad you didn’t hit the brewery. The pulled pork, sourkraut, pickled green beans, kids plate (cheese and meat and veggies) and beer were all excellent! They also had a brisket sandwich (daily special) but we didn’t try it.

One of my favorite places to stay on the OC. Been visiting there since 2010 two to three times a year. Friendly and very nice locals. Great restaurants and places to stay. Beautiful scenery and wonderful beaches! I always stay in Yachats when visiting the OC. Definitely getting noticed since I’ve first visited. More foot traffic and noticed surfers starting to show up enjoying the surf at the mouth of the Yachats river. Small town that deserves the “Gem of the Oregon Coast” motto!

First J and K video I've seen in AGES (I must have fallen out of touch) and I can't tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate them, ESPECIALLY the ones about my home state, Oregon, and ESPECIALLY about the Oregon coast! IEvery time I visit back home it seems that the Portland sprawl has spread even further. outward and the traffic is worse, it seems. So obviously it's a lot more populated than when I was a kid, and a teen! SO I was pleasantly surprised to hear that you can still go south of Lincoln City and find plenty of uncrowded space along the coast! Amazing, and reassuring at the same time! Also IT IS SO TRUE that you can go to the coast a hundred times and still discover new things and places that you never saw or experienced before! I do remember Yachats and Cape Perpetua, it's such a beautiful area! I also remember VERY WELL that you were more likely to get rained on, on the coast, than you were to get sunshine! Storms happened all the time, and cool weather with gorgeous mists dragging through the coastal mountains. Folks, ya gotta see it for yourself, but a J and K video is the next best thing!
