- How to Create a Funky Retro Album Cover in Photoshop
In this tutorial I will be showing you how to design a retro album cover straight out of the 70's! To create our album cover we will be using The Beardy typeface by Aiyari from The Amazing Designer's Creative Collection. Along with these great fonts you will also find various brushes, textures, lettering kits and watercolour collections from some of the top creators in the industry today. If you're all ready for a blast from the past then fire up Photoshop and let's get started!

min 13:39 I can not highlight the letters so I am not able to see the panel to choose the style of the letter, (I do have the Beardy Pro Font) How did you make it?
Hey Oliver, as long as you have your text layer, and text tool selected, you should be able to click and drag your mouse to highlight your text. If you are still experiencing difficulty with this however, please let us know what version of Photoshop you are working in and we can certainly help you further with this!
to anyone having an issue with the action: make sure you are zoomed way in or else it will do 2 or 3 pixels instead of 1,1

i did everything 2 or 3 times, but my action only goes down and not to the right......I pressed the down arrow and the right arrow as you said, but it only goes down....And when I call mine EXTRUDE it doesnt say SET 1 only Default

Instead of converting the text layers to smart object can't you merge the layers into one instead ? or is there a specific reason for converting the text layers to smart objects ??
You could also merge the layers, however this tutorial was also showing viewers how to use the action tool so they can easily store and replicate their actions :)

Hey there, I believe that you are referring to the stylistic alternates. To access these you will need to open up your Glyphs Panel. If you are unsure how to access these, we have a tutorial that can help: bit.ly/2Y3x1zc
for the font part in making the shadow. my actions in recording was not able to pick up on the arrow down and right. is there an alternative way? thanks!

Hi there! The textures used in this video can be found in the video description. They're called Dust Dirt Overlay Texture and Dust Noise Overlay Texture. Hope this helps!

Hey Leticia, depending on what colours and gradients you have applied in the previous steps, you may end up with slightly different colours, so you can certainly experiment with different effects to find a result that suits you. Hey Alabi, I am really sorry for any confusion caused. The In Line is used to apply a Layer Style without the rest of the layer being visible. This is how the lighter orange highlight is applied :)
Could you do this in GIMP?
We do not work in Gimp ourselves, so I am unable to confirm how much you might be able to replicate, however as this tutorial uses fonts and PNG images, you should certainly be able to work with these freebies in Gimp :).
This was fun to do but my picture was faded and not showing through.. low opacity not matter what I did to change it. 🥲 I wish I could have had a better outcome. Can I show you a screenshot of it?
