On that first one with UP power - was that a rotary plow? Or a screw plow? Or something else altogether? I couldn't tell what it was.
CN never fails, always falling back to its old reliable wedge plow. But FIVE motors??? I call that overkill!! 🥶🥶🥶
I wonder if UP still has the SP rotary plows and the modified Jordan spreaders with the extended "wings" on the outrigged blades. SP used a rotary plow at each end; power was, I think, four SD38-2 and two F7B locomotives (one set for each plow). The traction motors on the F7B's were removed and installed on the rotaries for power.
Cumbrés and Toltec had its rotary plow OY out earlier in the month.

First plow was a spreader. And yes, UP has kept SP plows for Donner Pass.
