This is a clear transfemenine allegory. The title "meli insa" means "the girl inside" (literally "woman inside") and the hook is talking about how the narrator wants to get closer to them. I'm not really familiar with coldwave but if they all sound like down tempo Soft Cell songs I'd be down for that.
Let's all thank the TH-cam algorithm! Glad you like the song. Maybe check the other ones I made, you may find other nice songs if that one ticked the right boxes for you

i like to think of the name as a trans reference because I read it as "the woman inside" which would interpret a person born amab and thinks and feels like a woman on the inside unfortunately my toki pona is kinda bad so I don't understand the lyrics well
Nice analysis... and don't the colors remind you of a certain flag? 😉🏳⚧ I might provide one, or several translations in the future, one of which would indeed be very close to your interpretation. There are some nice lessons around here if you want to enhance your toki pona skills!
The moment I saw the thumbnail for this one I knew I had to give it a listen. mi meli tonsi. kalama ni li pona tawa mi.
Also, where are these images from?

Coldwave started with French and Belgian New Wave bands aiming for more minimalism and darker themes

I might provide one, or several translations in the future, one of which would indeed be very close to your interpretation.
