The one thing i've noticed abt African news channels is that there is an established etiquette that is scrupulously followed where at the start of interviews or roundtable discussions that each guest, when first called upon, almost always thank the host for the opportunity to speak before they begin to provide a response. It seems this was not the case w/ this guest, and the awkward silence just pronounced this breech of etiquette as the host seemed to await the expected response to her welcome. Of course it had to be a westerner who displayed these ill manners.
