I love Turtles and all kinds of sea creatures. I'm going to try this but I'm going to use the sewing method for the turtle's body and legs. I'm also going to use a little bit of brown in with my sea turtle along with the greens. This is going to be amazing! Thank you mr tie-dye!!!
Yeah me too... and I have done a few turtles where I stitched them and had more detail in them ... have fun and I wish you success on your turtle ... the brown sounds good ✌🏻
Hi, Mr. Tie Dye! My bff loves turtles so I watched your excellent turtle tie dye instructional video and just had to try it! You are a great teacher!!! When I washed and revealed the shirt, it took her breath away; she loves it. Thank you so much for all of your teaching efforts, you really are great at it!
MrTieDye, Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge! I own a shop called Terrapin's Gifts and customers are always asking for tie dyes. I want to learn and I have watched quite a few of yours starting with this turtle. I'm clueless and was hoping you could steer me in the right directions for excellent quality dye. I've seen a lot of tie dyes and own many but no one does them as bright and unique as you. In any case, thank you for your knowledge!
thank you .. I love what I do and it brings me joy to share my knowledge with other so they may have success as well ... you are welcome .... as for dyes, I use Fiber Reactive Procion dyes and buy most of them from dharma ... www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-fiber-reactive-procion-dyes.html .... these are the dyes most dyers use and they need soda ash to activate them, so that is the presoak and spin out I talk about for the tees when I start each video ..... I have also bought some from Custom Colours in NC and Grateful Dye in CO .... the main thing is to look for the Procion dyes
Thank you for the instructional videos, they are very helpful. The only suggestions I would make is to show us the finished garment, at the end, of the video when the dyeing is completely finished and also I find that the 2 part videos are not in order, which is confusing. Thank you for listening! Jackie
you are welcome, glad to be of help.... and yes that is the way I do them now, how ti tie it, dye it and the results at the end ..... when I first started uploading to TH-cam they only allowed short videos to be uploaded, so I did two parts ..... but now I can do long videos so they are all in one now, and I went back and put a few of the two part videos together.... I am going to be getting back to making new videos soon
I watched your video yesterday and made the turtle right away. I LOVE turtles. I did it on a pillowcase. It turned out really good, other then I only had some dye that came in spray bottles so it didn't soak deep down. I'm definitely going to make another one on a shirt once I get good dye. I'm new to this, what does soda ash do?
MrTieDye I'm going to order some dyes from Dharma and make some more turtles, I'm right by the beach, so around here they're a big part of our community. Thank you for all your great videos, you really explain things well. I want to tackle my own tapestry at some point! That's my next big project.
I will look around and see if I can find it.... it has been several years since I cut it out, but I usually find clip art to trace basic designs like the turtle just so I have the right perspective
this was one of my early videos and I was uploading them before the tees had batched so no pics.... but my new videos have the results at the end ..... here is a link to the results on my FB page ... facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10215601008758609&set=a.10215582212168706&type=3&theater

I love it. beautiful. Namaste.
Glad you enjoy it!
is there a certain way you tie the shirt to get that design?
yeah it is all in the folding, just have to take your time to get the folds
I’m going to use the bleach dye method for this! Will update on how it went!!
Awesome, have fun and I wish you success with your project!! make sure to neutralize the bleach when you are done

Did you draw your own turtle template or download it from the internet somewhere that you can share it with us?

Video was too long and too many close ups. Made it hard to follow.
