  • Leather Seats in you car are great, but you have to maintain them or they will degrade over time. There are many different types of Leathers, Synthetics, and Vinyls that are used for automotive interiors so using a product to protect them is essential. In todays video I show you one of the protective products I like to use: Gyeon Leather Coat. It works really well on all types of leather or leatherette surfaces and leaves behind a nice layer of protection. I don't always use this, but in some situations this is my favorite product and I will explain why... ENJOY!!!

I have been using this for years. For untreated cleaned leather and vinyl, it is best to do two or three light coats. The best application system I have located is a baby brush for the original coat. Super soft and gets along the rim of the holes in ventilated seats and the threading and smaller details fast and easy. Then an over the finger (three usually) applicator. Spray only on the applicator or brush. Works best on when the surfaces are warm. Let the first coat dry overnight and then add a second. I rarely find a need for the third layer and only on older and higher quality leathers (Lexus LS430 would be an example). Reapply when the slickness recedes. For heavy daily use vehicles that generally means every two weeks on the drivers seat. I have not yet experienced any untoward buildup.

I like the slickness for the exact same reasons you stated. My leather seats are going on 7 years old now and they still look like new. Great video as always! Cheers.....

I've had the same experience with the slickness of this product, Josh, and I pretty much dismissed it as a result. But what you said about the bolsters makes perfect sense - I need to reevaluate my case usage of this! A couple of other quick questions, if you don't mind. What is your go-to leather/interior cleaner when there's a lot more dirt and grime? Is it still PolStar at a higher dilution, or something else? And second, when you completely want to avoid all slipperiness, but don't want to use an actual leather coating, what product are you reaching for to dress/condition the seats? Thanks!

I used this on the seats of our daily drivers a while back and I didn't like the slickness nor did my wife. The seats in my car are bolstered so it wasn't as bad for me, but the more flat seats on her Tiguan caused her to slide around a bit. I noticed it as well when driving. It does make cleaning up dirt and grime in the back where the kids are a little easier.

Just put it on the back seats. They make a mess, you make a hard turn. They’ll figure out the pattern sooner or later. Might get some smudging on the windows, from their faces, but you’re probably already used to that with their fingerprints all over the windows 😂
      Kidding, of course….

Just traded iny crew cab Silverado for a Genesis G90. I was wondering what type to put on all the leather. I used a bunch of stuff on my truck but the G90 has Nappa leather and was concered about the softness being affected by a ceramic coating on the leather. Any advise? BTW congratulations on the Rebel

The 2 products are in the same category so its basically the same thing and achieve very similar results. The Geist is just a newer brand than Gyeon. If you want to really protect your leather seats then i would recommend the Leather Shield (not coat) by Gyeon or other detail company but those are obviously alot more expensive and have a chemical smell because its like a ceramic coating for your seats. But all in all the Geist is more than good to enough
