I, too, would like the results of light vs no light. One comment on emptying the Ladner style pot, I balance one side of the pot on the gunwale(have a heavy plastic sheet to protect the gel coat) and put the bucket underneath. This is easier and the wife can easily balance the pot. VERY good video, thank you.

Hey John, In Canada we call those Prawns, not to be confused with shrimp. There are also delicious pink shrimp in Juan de Fuca Strait which can be caught in traps in good numbers(350/trap) in the right locations.

I place my pots then sit a long ways away and watch. Waiting and hoping someone will try and steal them. If that happens they will need to swim to shore. Period!!!
in washington it's common for the local native american tribes to steal pots, i've watched tribal fishery boats do it. seems to happen more often up north where the lummi believe they own all rights to the water, i remember seeing a newspaper article a few years ago where a dumpster located at a boat launch near birch bay was full of red crab pot buoys from pots that were stolen from the area.
Set pots 500 meters from uninhabited land with trees, go back to marina and drive to that uninhabited land near your pots…. Wait with a camera if you are going to try the legal route or a .308 if you like your justice frontier flavored….. outboards and radar domes make great targets….

I have 250 Ladner pot. it is stackable but I put 125 pots each in 2 spaces in my boat My boat is 22 ft Ladner pot is best than wires box pot it take lot of space u take about 80 or less pot on ur boat ....
