    Commenting from England 🇬🇧
    I just wanted to praise your professional, almost studio quality, video.
    I am doing the opposite to my 2017, 1.5, simply hoping to add an induction roar!
    Each to his own, I suppose.
    Regards.
    Alan.

      Thanks for the comments. I started this channel as a form of therapy to help me work through some things. What you are doing is quite common...a lot of people like the extra engine noise. Enjoy your MX-5. Only a few weeks until I put mine to bed for the winter.

    I tried a MX5 recently and wondered what this absurd enhanced noise was coming from, especially on the low frequencies, now I know... thx!

    Thanks. I deleted the sound tube from my ND3 today. I could not tell any difference in the cabin sound whatsoever. As far as I can see all I did was remove some ugly and unnecessary plumbing from under the bonnet. It was a very simple process. Word of advice I would give though, is do not drop anything in the engine bay while you are undertaking this delete as you will never be able to recover it and I'm certain it would create a forever rattle 😁.

      @@thereddoorgarage8606 When I was deleting the sound tube, I thought I better not drop one of the bolts or the plug as I will never be able to recover from the engine bay. I also have a MGA (interesting comparison to drive back to back) and drop anything in the A's engine back it falls straight to the garage floor.

    Very informative - thanks. I’m hoping that tube isn’t fitted as standard on the new 1.5 I’m expecting this month.

  • @AlexisGitarre
    @AlexisGitarre ปีที่แล้ว +11

    actually there is a big sound difference when you delete the soundtube.
    especially driving highways with 120km/h and listening to music, the soundtube outputs a lot of low frequency noise that ruins the already shitty bose system even more.
    the car sounds way better without the soundtube and it's calmer inside but also you hear the exhaust sound better. It's more of a noise delete mod.

    Looks to be that all ND2’s without the “handling package” eg base Sport and automatic transmission cars have the sound tube delete.

      Early manual GT trims had the sound tube but not the handling package components.

    • @schellingrs

      Cuts the cabin noise, making it quieter.

    Why do you keep your car on blocks in the garage?

    • @thereddoorgarage8606
      @thereddoorgarage8606  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Two reasons... to avoid flat spots forming (using foam to cushion the pad), but mostly because the other car drops slush and salt on the floor, and this stuff will creep along the floor and possibly get into the brakes... overkill, I know, but the blocks do help with the flat spots. Thanks for watching.

    To clarify, for all years, automatic and sport trim versions do not get a sound tube.

    • @thereddoorgarage8606
      @thereddoorgarage8606  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for clarifying... I have the base trim level, but with the manual clutch I got the sound tube, strut braces, and limited slip diff. Best driving car I have ever owned, and I traded in a vdub golf mark 5 for it...

      @@georgegalea1937 What year is the auto ND, did you buy it new or used, & what country are you in? I guess it's possible that some later years or different markets may have added it for the automatic, but I know the first few years autos didn't come with it, & I haven't seen an example of an automatic with it from factory on newer years either.
