Actually, I know a lawyer who works in intellectual property, and he’s dealt with a lot of these cases. A lot of the times the fakes and reals are made in the same factory. The workers will steal scraps from the real products and create extras and sell them as “fake”. Probably not in this circumstance, but a lot of the times.

you don't need to look at the belt to know if it's fake or not. the bag the goods come in is all you need to tell. fake bags are obvious once you've seen a real one to compare it to.
You don't even need to have seen the original. In the original everything will be perfect: no faulty stitches, no faded letters or prints, no typos, perfectly aligned letters. The logo will be always printed, stitched etc exactly as it appears in the brand logo (unlike in the strap in the belt shown here).

All (tales) on the replica no matter how good it is, is shorter, even if the shape is close- which on the genuine belt it is suppose to look like an upward angle on the bottom part of the tail. The replica is still shorter, and most of the time it's rectangle, more compact, which will make the G on the replica smaller than the original product. 2:26 look at the return shape. The color doesn't matter, because Gucci does make a bright brass Double G belt as well. Some luxury items sold in other countries are not released in the U.S.

If there’s 21 numbers in the serial code, then it’s real. All fakes that I’ve encountered have 19, 23 or 22 serial numbers. Gucci has also sent a statement that ALL of their serial codes have 21 numbers. That’s an easy way to spot a fake.
