@@sampritipaul I see in bengali weddings brides wear lehengas instead of sarees. It's okay if guests wear it. I mean lehenga is not bad. But it's one time use only. In future you're never going to wear that lehenga bcoz it would look old fashioned. But sarees don't become old. They can stay for generations.
Not only Bengali women wear alta during shadi but also in every festival it is worn

Alta is very important in odia(Odisha) culture. Married women and unmarried girl wear Alta in every auspicious fuction and occasion.Alta also used by World famous Odishi dancers
