Izuku always wanted to be able to smile not for himself, or for his image, but to make others feel safe in his presence. He always put others before him. For Todoroki, that was something new to him because he grew up with such a hard life, having Izuku not only sacrifice a win to make him understand himself but also cheer him on in the next round during the festival was probably the moment where he fell in love with Midoriya. For Izuku, finding a reason to grow better as a hero and a person was hard. Having Todoroki as an example, always fighting and working to prove himself was a constant motivation to work harder. He trusted Todoroki more than anyone else, and that was shown in the battle against Stain where the first person he thought to call for help was Shoto. And not only that, but Todoroki dropped it all, not thinking like the rational person he seems to be; and came running to help Deku as fast as possible. The way these characters help each other grow is really what makes me think that they ended up together after the events of the show. Their connection touched me far behind the screen, and I have never found a coupling that I relate to or inspires me more.
