▶️ ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Mechanically speaking, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS' engine makes 493 hp, sent to the rear wheels via Porsche's superb seven-speed PDK twin-clutch automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated flat-six spins to the same 9,000-rpm limit as it does in the GT3, and it makes the same 331 lb-ft of torque. According to Porsche, the slight horsepower deficit is due to differences in the Cayman's exhaust and cooling systems due to its different mid-engine platform compared to the rear-engine 911. Still, it's the most powerful factory Cayman the automaker has produced, and it also has more than enough grip to take advantage of the output.

This is why id never ever buy a second hand car. Its not like these super sports cars will do many miles to begin with so who cares about engine longevity.
agree. Its meat to be under 7k rpm for first 1500kms. Thats what I am doing with mine and its still fun even below 5k rpm. I enjoy knowing the car is being driven in correctly.
@@iLLGT2 That is completely incorrect. The only time it spends on the dyno is to go mild load to check any leaks. You should NEVER drive this car like this when new unless you're leasing or you will trade it in within 3 years.
@@iLLGT2no they aren’t, u have to break them in for 1k miles otherwise engine will be burning oil and parts will go so fast haha
@@iLLGT2 Took me 1 google search to find out you are wrong: "The other rules of engagement are, however, a little too conservative. The recommendation of limiting the engine to 4200 rpm may be a little conservative. What you do want is to vary the engine speed. This means you can travel at a given speed, but in different gears. Do not let your engine rev at the same rpm for more than fifteen minutes for the first thousand miles" From a main dealer website. Chris harris in the new 992 gt3 press car was told to run it in. Not sure if you have 0 mechanical knowledge or are dumb

Didn't the dealer tell you to run the engine in? Max 5000rpm for 1600km usually with that engine.

I finally own a car that you own, Manny! Mine spec'd out at $210K, and I paid sticker. I'm surprised you didn't spring for the magnesium wheels, but they are the most expensive option...so perhaps slightly out of your budget? 🤪
A few comments...
1:32 It's not "about $150K base"...it's exactly $160,700 base.
2:14 Your salesperson is way off on the weight and slightly off on the torque. He should get his facts straight. It's all right there on Porsche's website.
It's not "less than 3,000 lbs"...it's way more. It's 3,227 lbs and GVWR is 3,904 lbs. Even though it's smaller and an RS car, it weighs more than my 992 GT3. Also, it's not "333 lb ft"...it's 331 lb-ft.
In addition to my 992 GT3 (manual), I also have a 992 GT3 Cup car, and my 992 GT3 RS is on the ship right now...arrives in just over 3 weeks! I show them on my channel. I'm upgrading my Macan S to the Cayenne Turbo GT soon...currently the quickest SUV on the Nürburgring.

Did you get it at msrp or is there a dealer markup? How long did you wait for it?
I think there was a comparison made about the weight of 4RS vs 3RS that 4RS is a few hundred pounds lighter but based on Porsche documentation, 4RS is only 50 lb lighter

Beautiful! But you got the weissach package but the car still came optioned with steel brakes and the regular rims?
Steel is best for track. Regular rims look better than magnesium ones and IMO are the best Porsche has put out.
@@alenaalena13 yes steel is better for track and wheel design is personal preference, but then why pay that big price tag for the weissach package if most of it isn’t put on the car, just dont get the package was what i was getting to if your going to heavy track the car etc.
@@michaelguay5881 My preference when ordering was not to get the Weissach package as it does nothing for how the car goes and adds too much contrast to what is a small car. To get the magnesium wheels whose design I didnt like you had to buy the Weissach. By not buying Weissach and magnesium wheels I have a brilliant car which in Australia is $100,000 Australian cheaper than the GT3 (which is not an RS car). So I dont have to debate the 911 snobs who want to argue their GT3 is better than the GT4RS which has the same engine and acceleration. Mine is already a bargain.

Actually what you heard in the video was all below the recommended max 7k RPM during break in. It just sounds like he wrung it out, but he short shifted at 5k, maybe 6k in the last pull. It’s still got 3k RPM to serve up if needed and wanted. Don’t use it, if you don’t mean it😅
