    Your videos are very good at helping me rebuild my cb500t! How did you turn the exhaust side cam to match the markings? My cam marking is basically at the opposite site of the marking from the cover and im wondering if I am doing something wrong..

      Hi, thanks for watching! If I understand correctly, you are trying to turn the exhaust cam to the timing marks? Basically, you have to push the cam around, forcing the valves open. It’s really quite hard to move them. Either take a brass punch and push it over or I gently turned it with a socket on the end of the camshaft where the points are. Easier to turn the cam over but you have to be careful of the points plate.

    I followed your very helpful video. I lined all 3 timing marks and put the chain on. I noticed that it's not on the compression stroke of the LT, does that matter?!

      Hi. No just lining the timing marks is fine 👍

    I think i just did a mistake. I lined up the marks on the two cams and the LT mark as well. But after i turned the engine i realized that the Lt mark is not on the compression stroke. Do i need to reinstall the cam chain?

      Hi, without seeing it it's difficult to say. You do however hit the compression stroke 360 degrees (full engine turn) again on LT? I'm assuming you think that install needs to be on the compression stroke i.e all three marks line up on compression stroke? They should line up on the 'off' stroke. The cam lobes determine which 'stroke' occurs when and don't change relative to the index marks so as long as all three marks were aligned when you put it on you should be fine.

      @@ratmotors903 Thanks for your answer. I installed and lined up everything on the offstroke. If i turn the engine to the compression stroke on the left cylinder, the marks on the cams are not align like before on the offstroke. But i am glad that i asked you. At the weeked i planed to reinstall the cam aligned on the compression stroke. So now i can safe that time.

    How did you alter the chain length without moving the crank please

      Chain length is a fixed/standard length on the chain I bought. Specifically for this engine. It just needs breaking and re-connecting through the head.

      I think hes talking about getting one side short and one side long did you just fiddle with it off the crank rotate chain then fiddle back onto crank?

    How do you move the cam

    • @ratmotors903
      @ratmotors903  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to push against the teeth with a brass punch or similar to move the cam against the valves.
