Kelly Hays, you are my spirit animal! 😊 I've been a tradesman for over 25 years, and I gotta say you and your Pops did a phenomenal job! Rest your sweet soul in heaven, Rex. 🙏
The van build is amazing to watch and see you do it, but what I'm so impressed and love, is you working side by side with your dad and so impressed with your bond and love ❤. Vans will come and go, but the time and memories with your dad will be with you forever. Thanks for sharing, I'm enjoying these videos
Kelly so sorry for the loss of Rex. It’s so fortunate you were home and could spend some time with him. I’ll bet he was excited to see you after the CDT! 🐾💜
@@S.Kribbet I’ll never forget coming home and seeing him get so excited everytime. I looked forward to it so much. So blessed I got to spend a ton of quality time with him these past couple months. He will be in my heart forever ❤️
Initially subscribed because of your long hikes. Turns out I love all of your videos! Your personality and recording style is nice to have running in the background while I work or doe chores.
Enjoying watching you and your dad tackle the van.. what a great project. Its good to tear into it yourself so in the future you know exactly what you're dealing with. Great job so far, cant wait to see the finished project.
Lots of work but it will be worth it in the long run to know you did it all right. Sorry for the loss of your pup! I'm sure you gave'em the best life. almost 13 years is a lot of memories and love.
Before fixing up the body, you should thoroughly inspect the mechanical. Its at the age where they have brake problems. That joint should be sealled from the outside. We used to use Avecco putty on body joints like that. Good choice not to hike. The weather is crazy. Good Luck, Rick
Love a good DYI. Bravo Kelly. It’s like a fun remodel. A new van!!! Cabinets look fantastic. Inspiration all around! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏no rush to Florida Kelly. It’s cold. P S. Tile will look great with cedar. How exciting
A word… “Impressive” next word… “Inspirational” so enjoyed seeing you and your dad working together. And wow, you did a remarkable job filming editing this too.
You should used a self leveling sealant on the outside of the roof. The same sealant they used around the fan. Use simple green to wash the roof. It will remove all that algae.
Stuff happens 😁 First comes hard work, then comes the reward! You've got this!!! I'm seriously loving watching how you do all this! So thx 4 sharing. Your Dad is a gem ❤!!!😊
Yeah Dad!!! :) You two work together so well. Kelly , so proud of you but not surprised, seems when you decide something, you make it happen. Thanks for doing the video so we could see it!
Rad renovations, it's gonna be a brand new interior when it's finished! Thanks Dad, you the man! So sorry on the loss of your doggo. May he rest in peace.
I assume you got your editing solved. Congrats. Your woodworking skills are amazing. I know your dad helped but you did great. That was a lot of work. The van will look awesome when you finish. I almost got snow in this part of Florida. Hope you are doing well and staying warm. Best wishes.
I live in Alabama and we’ve had snow down at the beach for the first time since 1973. New Orleans had a snowstorm so bad first time in many many years. I heard they had to borrow snow plows from Arkansas.
Ur amazing girl. R u sure u never did this before? It's looking fantastic. Couldn't help but notice the nova wagon in the garage, they make great hotrods. I'll be looking for ur next video.🤘
Maybe some kilmat on those panels since it is all stripped down, I just finished a promaster, I covered about 40% of the the van in Kilmat and two layers of 3M thinsulate, its so quiet and resistant to extreme temperatures. Have fun with the project it will be awsome once it is rebuilt.
I realize now the video was done over 20 days ago, so those panels are probably covered by now. Looking forward to seeing what the finished build looks like.
As a YT influencer your always looking for content I'm sure. While I love your hiking I am against your trail running thats an injury just waiting to happen!! Remodeling your van is interesting I just built mine out last year from a stripped out cargo van. 2014 Dodge Promaster. I'm a trim carpenter by trade and did all the work myself minus plumbing and electrical. I did my ceiling in 4 inch strips like yours but did it dead last even after cabinets so I could pull it down easily one piece at a time for repairs from possible future leaks. I also put a 38 inch shower pan in and built a shower around that with an Airhead composting toilet. One thing I woulda done different is to run my electric and plumbing last. All mine is inside the walls which is ok but running it thru conduit stained like my walls would have been fine with me and easier to maintain as needed. I did cedar TnG on my walls and it turned out great. Good thing your dad can help you with your custom land yacht!
Much like your van, I am gutted at the outcome. Looking forward to your new "van build channel". lol....but not really lol. No...seriously. This is going to be a ton of work. You got this!
Looks like you Dad has a beautiful square body Chevy. I hope to restore my 85 C-10 this year. I need a new vehicle but the new trucks are very expensive and ugly. Good Luck, Rick
@@kellyhays2311:42 Yep, missed it the first time through... Thanks for the reply. Must have stepped away during this segment. (Looks like it was quite the operation, using the wire-wheel, etc.). 👍
I see you doing everything in the interior to repair, but how about preventing any water from getting in? Maybe you are doing that and I didn't wait until the end of the video, but I would hate to see all that hard work and repair job getting destroyed.
Father daughter projects are priceless. And you will also have an awesome van when completed. It's a huge win, win for both of you!
Enjoy as many of these Father/Daughter projects while you can. There is nothing like it! Thank you for sharing the project with us.

You can use Mod Podge to seal the “tiles”. It goes on white and dries completely clear. Nice rehab!

Nice Carhartt jacket! Most of my brands are Northface and I still have my black windwall jacket since Christmas 2016 with no wear and tears in it.
