Sauber are the “call us anytime, we’ll have you” team.
"We'll have you back" you mean. They've had some rookies, sure, but most of the time they have relied on experience. And comebacks :)
@@CometF81 a lot of young drivers got their start with the Swiss team.
Or benetton
Frentzen, Kimi, Massa, Kubica, Perez, Leclerc to name only eventual race winners. You will be hard pressed to find any team with a better record paving the way for young talent

Unbelievable to think this year marks 20 years since Kimi and Fernando made their F1 debuts . I still think of 2001 sometimes as being recent past but it isnt . Yuki Tsunoda wasnt even a year old when Kimi and Fernando made their first F1 start
Imagine being yuki's father and seeing the 2001 Australia grand prix and saying "one day my son will race with them" and 20 years later it happened 🤯
OMFG that's a terrifying thought, I often still think of 2001 as not that long ago, totally wrong of course!
Imagine if someone got into F1 and was born after Kimi and fernando’s debut
yuki was born in 2000? so he was born when alonso and raikonen made their debut
It’s funny that Kimi quit ice hockey to drive cars because he didn’t like waking up early.
Still waiting for mansell’s 4th stint at Williams
He's waiting for that championship winning package.
Still waiting for Hakkinen to end his sabbatical
He would be a good option if George Russell leaves for Mercedes 😜
@@aslamnurfikri7640 I would sacrifice having Ric, Max and Charles on the grid if it meant Hakkinen would come back. That guy is an absolute chad
@@Jimbo7 If ''the Michael'' says Mika was the best against him, he was incredible then.
Michael Schumacher : *in the list*
Heinz-Harald Frentzen : Am I a joke to you?
sauber lol
Does he want his ex back?
😁
Ikr -_-
Alonso to Alpha Tauri won't be too weird, let's not forget he's a young driver after all
True, he can go to any team he wants. He is hot property for F1 teams. So it is just natural.
It's even more likely for him to return to Alpha tauri than to Ferrari
ikr looks like a promising rookie
Rookie of the year
Berger's two wins for Benetton in 1986 and 1997 were also the first and last wins for that team.
Technically, liuzzi was the first driver demoted from red bull to Toro rosso. But I don't blame you for forgetting him.
All people did
Liuzzi wasn’t awful in 2009-10.
Didn’t he replace Klien in 2005 for like 3 races?
Gasly and Herbert best finish: 1st and best start: 4th
It probably wouldn’t happen, but a Mclaren/Hamilton reunion would be something
It would, but won't happen. Ever.
Nahh it's a whole different entity by what he used to know about Mclaren. Good ol Ron Dennis isn't there anymore.
@@radityaindera3442 Where's Ron Dennis nowadays?
No thanks
it is possible when mercedes withdraw as team.
It was so long ago that kimi debuted for sauber I forgot he started with them lol
My earliest memories of Räikkönen were from his McLaren Mercedes days.
Max Verstappen was 4 years old when Kimi started his F1 career :D
Yup remember kimi powering full speed through orooge through a thick clowed of engine smoke from a car blowing up ahead he didnt even lift. Then overtaking villenurve with a masterstroke move to put the best of them to shame. Thats when i realised he was somthing speacial
Jacques Laffite (Williams 1975 ) Williams 1983-84 (Ligier 1976-982/85-86)
Frentzen Sauber 94-96/02(1 race) 03)
Jos Verstappen Arrows (96/00-01
Martini (various stints at Minardi)
Frentzen returned for sauber for a one off in 2003
Martini WAS Minardi. I think he had one stab at F1 with Dallara/Scuderia Italia possibly thanks to the Ferrari engine deal but he was really only every a Minardi driver. And gave them both their only race-leading and front-row-starting performances too. Nice!
Frentzen's one-off Sauber race was 2002, before doing a full season in '03. As for Martini, he was only away from Minardi in 1992
Ronnie Peterson came back to Lotus, his spiritual home, in 1978 after stints with March and Tyrrell and leaving Lotus early 76
Mario Andretti: Lotus (1968-69) - (1976-80)
Ferrari (1971-72) - (1982)
holy cow !! imagine mclaren signed schumacher in 96 !!! schumacher and hakkinen in the same team !! especially in the mp4 13 in 98 !!!
Sainz will come to McLaren and Daniel to Redbull one day
I can definitely see Sainz returning to mclaren, he's basically done every career move Alonso has so far
@@seanonraet8327 He's been in the same teams as Alonso, but would've had to switch to Renault first before going to Ferrari
@@Slimmeyy He already drove for Renault in 2018!
@@_fiftyseven_ I mean that Carlos would've needed to go to Renault first to make the exact same moves Fernando did (Minardi > Renault > McLaren > Renault > Ferrari > McLaren > Alpine)
Sainz back to McLaren could happen, Ricciardo back to Red Bull no way, they won't take him back.
The funny thing here is that Sainz is from the same country as Alonso and has done the EXACT same journey as Alonso have between the teams. This i getting scary....
I've seen other comments like this, but I just now remembered that Toro Rosso used to be Minardi.
Actually, Sainz is following.
Holy crap you're right:
- Debuts with Toro Rosso (Formerly Minardi, the team Alonso debuted with)
- Goes to Renault
- Goes to Mclaren
- Currently is with Ferrari
I wonder if anyone has bought up to him that his career path so far is eerily following Alonso's.
That means Sainz 2x WDC
Just waiting for Mika Häkkinen's return to McLaren.. :)
Mika never retired, he's still on a sabbatical
@@patrickracer43 exactly
Jos Verstappen: Arrows. After sporadic appearances with Benetton in 1994 and put in eye-catching performances with Simtek until the team went bust after Monaco in 1995, he then spent his first full season with Arrows in 1996.
Despite some spectacular performances, including an epic charge in the wet at Interlagos (setting fastest lap after fastest lap) before retiring and comprehensively out performing his team mate Riccardo Rosset, he and Rosset were moved aside for 1997 to make way for Pedro Diniz and reigning World Champion Damon Hill. Verstappen found refuge at Tyrrell, where he was marginally outperformed by team mate Mika Salo (who scored an unlikely points finish in the wet at Monaco, by not pitting), but once again he wasn't retained by his team. After spending the first 7 races of 1998 on the sidelines, Verstappen was called up to replace the under performing Jan Magnussen at Stewart for the rest of 1998.
After spending 1999 making headlines by setting the fastest time in a Jerez test session in a Honda test car, he returned to Arrows for 2000 and 2001. Again, he put in eye-catching performances, including battling with the leaders early on in the 2001 Malaysian Grand Prix, and he generally out performed his team mates, he was dropped by Arrows for 2002. After another year on the sidelines, he spent his final season in F1 with Minardi in 2003.
In the 1990s a Band called ,,Die Prinzen“ made a (Ironic) Song about Germany and one line was (translated)
,,The only thing wrong here is that Schumacher does not drive a Mercedes“
Yeah they jinxed it
other drivers not mentioned frentzen(sauber) grojean(enstone) heidfeld (sauber) sutil (force india)
Sutil's situation was a little different. He was in some legal trouble at the time, but I don't know if that played a bigger role in him being replaced for 2012 than Hülkenberg being the better driver.
I really wanna see Vettel back at RedBull someday
If he was to return to his original team he would go back to bmw sauber, now alfa romeo
If Vettel didn't sign for AM he would have joined RB as Helmut Marko said:
"when we decided to replace Albon, Vettel was no longer available"
Would be an incredible story, but I don't really see Vettel wanting to be teammates with Verstappen.
Dont think that will happen
@@AdrianRodriguez-mj7bo yeah Verstappen and Vettel don't have the best history
Hulkenberg gets to move into the double-return category in 2025 when he starts with Kick Sauber as they become an Audi works team.
Mark Webber drove for Jaguar and then Red Bull, who bought Jaguar.
The 2001 Sauber was the original Tracing Point. It had an uncanny resemblance to the Ferrari, and even shared the power unit.
Mhmmm... AGS can one up that. When they debuted back in 1986, they basically built their car around an ex-works Renault RE40 monocoque. Why? Because the team owner had bought the 1983 car :D
But wait... when Shadow staff left to form Arrows in late '77, their first car was very unsurprisingly a near-copy of the Shadow. Which led to a court battle in which Arrows lost and had to build a new car.
Explains their great results that season eh
You could take this to another level and have father and son who drove for same team. Nelson Piquet sr. and jr. Benetton/Renault, Nico and Keke Rosberg at Williams, Jos and Max Verstappen at Stewart/Red Bull, Kevin Jan Magnussen at McLaren....I'm sure there's more.
How to get more Views in F1 videos
Put kimi in thumbnails 😀😀
*FOR WHAT??*
@@borismuller86 FUCKING finally
How to get views:
Step 1: Put Kimi in thumbnail.
Step 2: Profit.
Michele Alboreto: Tyrrell always my home.
According to Max, they already signed a contract stating that he'd drive for RedBull in 2017. They didn't expect to be moved up during 2016 though
Mario Andretti Drove for at least two stints each for Lotus and Ferrari.
2023: Daniel Ricciardo returns to Red Bull's sister team in AlphaTauri after Nyck De Vries was dropped midway through the season.
My favorite: Max Verstappen at Torro Rosso. In his first stint it was his father Jos driving for Minardi and Max playing in the garage as a kid. In his second stint, still a kid, Max was the driver.
Same could be said for Kevin Magnussen at McLaren
@@SaraSpruce Good one, forgot about that one. Are there pictures and video's of Kevin playing around there? I know there are some of Max, but I don't remember any of Kevin.
It's just incredible how well researched these videos are. Kudos guys, hard to believe this is a rather young channel!
What about Mario Andretti who first raced for Ferrari in 1971 and 1972 before returning to the team in 1982 following Pironi's accident and put the car on pole in his first race back in the team. Andretti also initially drove for Lotus in the late 1960's and returned to that team almost ten years later.
Mark Webber was at jaguar which became red bull
Mario Andretti - two stints at Lotus, 2 stints at Ferrari.
Piercarlo Ghinzani had stints with Osella, Toleman, Ligier and Zakspeed, he was faithful to the Osella team mainly, so he had three stints with them scoring only 2 points at the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix.
It’s illegal to put “redbull” and “driver shortage” in the same sentence, they’re basically overflowing with drivers at this point.
Piquet didn't "take" Honda to Lotus when he left, Honda were already supplying Lotus. Williams lost the Honda engines either because of the driver squabbles between Piquet and Mansell, or because Williams wouldn't hire a Japanese driver to appease Honda.
If Kimi had gone to McLaren first before returning to Alfa-Sauber, his entire F1 career would've been a palindrome (Sauber-McLaren-Ferrari-Lotus-Ferrari-McLaren-Sauber)
I think berger’s was
Johnny Herbert was a tragic 'what if' in F1 after his F3000 Brands Hatch crash. That, and Flavio treating him like a 2nd class citizen at Bennetton
When he said he "managed to win twice even with Herbert" in 1995 wasn't particularly nice of him, too
@DieHiovanie when he got a 4th in his first season, Flavio and his inner circle including the team boss had already left when Johnny got back to hospitality. Only people left were his mentor and side of mechanics. They were trying to do an "Andrea Moda" to Johnny, only without the murder plot with faulty equipment. All because they banked on him being unfit to pass their offseason test, and he smashed them.
Raikkonen doing this TWICE is pretty impressive (Ferrari and Sauber/Alfa Romeo)
Fun fact: Gerhard Berger's first and last wins were also Benetton's first and last victories in F1.
Mark Webber was at red bull twice-first time under the Jaguar name
Sauber alone has three guys worthy of the list, with only one mentioned. Frentzen and especially Heidfeld also qualify.
Ironically, those two were also born in the exact same city in Germany. And even more ironically, they bot drove for Sauber in 2003
Mark Webber from jaguar to Red Bull
Nick Heidfeld from Sauber to BMW Sauber to BMW Sauber Ferrari
ForgIve me on the dates but I believe Fangio raced for Maserati in 54, Mercedes Benz in 55 and moved back to Maserati either mid season or in 56
Jacques Laffite - Ligier always my home.
This vid recommended to me right after Button was announced to Williams yesterday 😂
Berger scored Benettons first ever win in 1986 and their last ever win in 1997.
Very hopefully Kimi will return to McLaren-Mercedes in 2022 and Warsteiner he will drink
Valtteri Bottas - Need to get it in before its announced " rejoins Williams F1"
I like to think of these more as returning to your parents not going back to an ex.
Raikkonen got his only win with Ferrari in his second stint after they decided to drop him.
Perez won his only for Racing Point after they had decided to drop him.
Are there more like this?
alonso went back to renault twice and back to mclaren once aswell
Epic video.. so interesting
"Giancarlo Fisichella, Team Silverstone and Team Enstone"
So what we learned is that for a while, Fisichella was always a stone's throw away.
And what about Mario Andretti's comeback at Ferrari at Monza and Vegas in 1982?
Feel like the next one is Bottas at Williams
Before watching the video, Frentzen will be mentioned
Thought the same. Huge disappointment
love the vid
Bottas can come back to Williams in 2022 and give Russel a Mercedes seat.
To whom it may concern:
Force India and Renault stunted Nico Hulkenberg’s career. It would have been nice to see him join a top team like Mercedes or Red Bull sooner.
Mario Andretti-Ferrari & Lotus???
I absolutely love this soundtrack you used in this video!
Peter Sauber paid the seat for Schumacher for his debut... but cool video
Pierluigi Martini, Minardi 1985 , second signing 1988 to 1991 third signing 1993 to 1995 when he retired from F1.
Kimi was also in talks with Mclaren in 2010.
1:13 what if that had really happened, Schumacher in a McLaren...
I’m still waiting for Red Bull to call Kvyat back to AlphaTauri when they realize they dragged Tsunoda into F1 too early.
Alesi won f3000 with Jordan then ended his career with them
Herbert qualified 25th and finished 5th? What?
In the late 80s and early 90s they had 26 car grids. They also had prequalifying in some races as they had even more teams than available grid positions.
remember in 80/90 cars were less reliable and more over taking happend
@@dazzlingd Yeah, 1989 especially was crazy with 20 teams. Fitting with the theme of this video, Piercarlo Ghinzani returned to Osella for his final season but qualified only three times. That was still better than Zakspeed, who only got to start two races and retired both. Imagine getting sponsors for that nowadays!
Oh, and I almost forgot the one car team EuroBrun, who didn't start a single race all year!
technically tonio liuzzi was the first driver to get demoted to toro rosso from red bull
Fernando alonso: Renault McLaren Renault
Haven't earned the right to put this many ads in a video yet
Ronnie Petersno and Lotus
Seb/Ric at RB
Lulu/Checo at Mclaren
So no Heinz-Harald Frentzen at Sauber? :(
Pierre gasly, Daniil Kvyat
From RB to STR
How did Gasly not make this list? Goes to Redbull goes back to Toro Rosso and wins a race. Much better story than DK
Think about Vettel and kimi on alfa
Could pretty much just do this entire video about Alonso
Almost scary to think if Michael stayed with mercedes when they became competitive again. He would have 14 world titles now
Fangio / Maserati
kimi is my number 1
because he is not a professional f1 driver, this is just his hobby
Heinz Harald Frentzen - Sauber
That would be hilarious if ALO went back to Ferrari and then on back to Alfa Tauri! AND I would pit it past him doing so! LOL!
Danny Ric back to red bull for 2024 and wins championship, don't @me
Pierre Gasly and Heinz Harald Frentzen
damn imagine if schumacher went to mac-merc and hakkinen went to ferrari!
Kubica: Am I a joke to you?
And Rosberg would easily be 6 times world champion today.
Robert Kubica to Sauber (Alfa Romeo)
Nick Heidfeld to (BMW) Sauber
Romain Grosjean to (Lotus) Renault
Felipe Massa to Sauber and Williams
How does Massa qualify? Sauber and Williams are unrelated, especially since he drove for neither of the two teams in their BMW days
At 1:17 what is that Ferrari?
i just wanted the tay k song and ended up in a formula1
I thought Red Bull were done with Danill?
Soon to be Bottas reuniting with Williams
Vettel Red Bull 2021 and/or Lewis Hamilton McLaren 2023.
Massa could have made the list aswell
the hülkenberg stats are a bit flawed no? he DNS´ed the race where he were 3. on qualifying
Those stats in the video are correct
Why does everyone go from Jordan to Benetton?
