Think of the XC60 more as a raised family-sized estate car than a proper off-roader. It's practical, classy and very easy to drive. We're big fans of the comfortable ride and the great view you get from the high driving position. Offering neither the sporty, firm ride of the Audi Q5 or the rugged ability of the Land Rover Freelander, the XC60 falls somewhere in between -- and as such strikes a great balance for family buyers.

AWD doesn’t mean you are going mudding or rock climbing - as a former Subaru owner I always found AWD to be much safer in wet/gravel slippery conditions and that is worth the extra to me which is why I chose the AWD D5 XC 60. If I want a 4WD adventure vehicle I’ll buy a Toyota Land Cruiser. 😎
we still have 1991 volvo estate, and it still works,
in 20 years, this cars wont fall apart too, thats what i love about volvos
I realy like the fact that you can fold the rear seat down completely flat (unlike a ix35 or a kia sportage, for example), plus you sit up high, it's easy to get in and out of it, and the quality and safety is great. realy good car.
Just bought one of these & it's a dream. Very smart and intuitive.
Much better than the new Audi I had which had to have the engine replaced after owning it for 6 weeks supposedly due to a fault in the hose between the turbo and engine.
And even with the new engine (& lots of extra options thrown in to avoid court) it still consumed 1 litre of oil every 6 wks which I thought was unusual... until I met other Audi owners. So after 15mo (& a few more issues like the starter motor going) I traded up

AWD is great. It doesn’t mean go out in snow blizzards tornadoes and mudding deep in the forest. It’s for you and the family to get safely to the ski lodge. Have fun. 😁
It will last much longer than the equivalent BMW or Audi - Lexus and Volvo hold their own when it comes to being good solid cars.. they define the word solid!
@MrMare94 My father has a 2006 XC90, my mother has a 2005 V50, and I have a 2004 S60R. They are great cars. You have made a great choice.

BMW, Audi, Land Rover might make some really great car, but don't be that douche. Volvo XC60 is one of the safest cars on the road and you and your family's safety should be your highest priority. No other cars in this class have anything on that Volvo regarding safety. And that's what you pay for.
Plus Volvo looks better imo than all of them
Wrong, my steering wheel has an option that changes your steering feel from high to low. Best feature to have!

I think even Volvo marketed it as a sort of cross over as it is not as big as the XC90 but is larger than the old V70 XC

Those booster seats are awesome!
Oh and I forgot I said this before too.
There is booster seats that is hooked on the car, just push on this button then pull on this lever thingy bellow the lever. After that, raise it up. thats how to put up the booster seats.
I don't wear booster seats anymore.

They make good reviews, but favour so much the brands that pay the money like BMW and AUDI.
This Volvo is simply great and nobody mentioned about the astonishing fuel economy from the D5 Driv e engine with AWD which no other SUV of this class can achieve 50+ mpg!!!!
He is totally wrong about one thing. Volvos diesel engines are superb
Here is my experience with the 2013 XC60. Had it for a year and a half, drove it sensibly and took it in early for it's second service this week. The basic service cost $820 and they claimed it needed other work done to it to the tune of around $1800 (including the windscreen wipers replaced at $88 and brake pads worn). All of these costs are what they called wear and tear so they are not covered by any warranty. So buyer beware. They are either using inferior parts that don't even last two years or their authorised repair centres are out to gouge their customers.
That's your dealership's problem, not all are like that, mine is superb

The comment that BMW and Audi diesels are better than Volvo is unfounded.
volvo's average car life is 19.8 years!! thats WAY more than toyota. (mercedes' is also 19.8 years) and it looks really cool, it`s very luxurious and is desirable.
no...they do have the S80L which is exclusive for Mainland China market, and for the taxation reasons, the S80L is completely built in China rather than anywhere else

Excuse me but how is the AWD in this not worth it? You won't really need the Land Rover's super good off road capabilities in most cases but this car is better off road than the Q5, X3, RX, or GLK by a lot. The HAldex system is now one of the best systems out there. Plus NOBODY wants the horrible reliability problems of a Land Rover. You also forgot to mention how this has the best in class petrol engines both theT6 (most powerful in class) or the 3.2. And obviously it's going to be a bit pricey
Always baffled me how nobody made an issue of the fact that it has very very little room for backseat passenger even with average height people in front

(this is before seeing the video) I know that it has something in the middle that can be put down, I know that you can put evrything in the back down for storing in the back, I know there is this thing in the back that you have to pull up and then there is like health packages and first aid kits. I know lots. Just explore it, if you get one.
Looking at getting a 2009 or 2011 Volvo XC60 with around 110'000miles , but how would you compare to the same year Rav4, is the Volvo still a better buy or is the Rav4 ?

2012 D5 AWD SE Lux, getting about 36mpg (UK) or 7.9l/100km. Mostly short rural commutes.
Did you hear the guy saying the automatic gearbox and the diesel engine D5 are not as good as Audi and VW, it made me laugh. These guys don't really know what they are talking about or somebody from Audi pays the big money to make sure these bunch of idiots will make the most to make Volvo look less of a car than the German crap out there.

@MrMare94 I have driven both of them, and I prefer the Volvo. The Audi's ride is much harsher, and the seats are nowhere near as good. I like the looks and interior of the Volvo more, and it's safer. My Volvo dealer is also better.
if you have no hands on the wheel, it will stay straight. You do not have to have both hands on the wheel

@juxtapos99 Driving on the right side of the road is a sign of having been conquered. In the olden days most people kept to the left to keep their sword arm ready for protection towards the other person (most people being right handed). Napoleon ordered his soldiers to march on the right in defeated countries to help subdue the population psychologically.
