Wow , we moved away form St. Louis in 1972, seeing this it just breaks my heart. I would have never in a thousand years think Jamestown Mall would look like this. 😥

It's sad to see it in this condition

A lot of speculation goes into why malls are eventually abandoned…and from what I’ve seen, the ones that end up in the worst shape just look like they were in the middle of NOWHERE.
like…why did they build these places so freaking far from everything? Every mall that I’ve gone too that’s still thriving (with a few exceptions) has been surrounded by other stores and restaurants to draw more people in…

This mall in its current condition is truly apocalyptic, like a scary harbinger of things to come.

What’s scarier that it hasn’t even been abandoned for ten years. There are malls abandoned longer that look much better than this. Jamestown was very unlucky when it came to natural decay and vandalism.

I agree with you 100 percent. It is shocking how quickly this mall deteriorated.

@@retroryan838 I absolutely agree with you. I was going to say that too. It hasn’t even been 10 years. WOW 😢

Thanks for this! Would you be able to do the same with Chesterfield Mall before it gets demolished in October?

@@Polothemius I saw. While exploring there was a copper thieves so I avoided him. This mall probably should’ve never been built in the first place. As it was in the middle of no where and it was a bad location.

At last, I believe you were the first person on camera to explore the cafe level of the old Dillard’s. The really decayed store you entered and exited was Stix Baer & Fuller when the mall first opened. The 4th floor had a restaurant, but it looks like when Dillard’s got the building in 1985, they transformed it into more shopping space. The store closed in 2006 and sat rotting ever since. That’s why it is in such bad shape.

At this point they are demolishing it. They already started on the demo.

Unfortunately, the mall has been in no condition for restoration for years. at this point, the whole building would probably just fall apart if they even tried.
