it usually isnt so bad. generally you can keep them looking´nice with relatively frequent cleaning for a decent amount of time. i'd say to have them looking perfect all the time you'd have to fully polish them about 2-4 times a year, depending on the conditions of the road you drive on. lots of dirt, muck, tar and salt will make them cloudy a lot faster, so if your roads are crappy and you get a lot of cold weather meaning salty roads you'd have to do it more often. the advantage of doing this over clearcoat is that if you get a stone chip or minor curb rash there is no clearcoat that will start to peel off. so less- but more frequent upkeep, over having to do everytthing over once the clearcoat chips and having to apply new clearcoat. lots of people leave refurbished BBS wheels bare metal to avoid having clearcoat that peels. plus youre able to get it a whole lot shinier if you dont apply clearcoat c:

「磨きました!鏡面になりました!」って、初心者さんがマネして磨いてすぐ錆びてガッカリしてるのが目に浮かびます、
クリア塗装くらいやってから上げて欲しかった。
