Hello Todd. Thank you so much for your videos. I commented on one other video. I’m the guy who has been hunting compounds for 40 years and always wanted a recurve. Just turned 66 and happy birthday to me.😂 I ordered the Creative XP Black Hunter in 50 lb. Weight. It will be here today. Also ordered the 30$ carbon arrows you tested. Just wandering how to get set up quickly for hunting. I would like to take a deer this season with this recurve. I like the zwicky no mercy 2 blade also on your video. I believe You shoot a 30” arrow and your draw length is longer than mine. I have a 27 1/4” draw length. How much should I cut those 31” arrows and how will it effect the flight? All this FOC and recurve stuff is new to me so I’ll be studying more videos to get the arrow flight as perfect as I can. Again Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I shoot a 30.5 inch arrow and you should an arrow 1 inch longer than your draw length I like the zwicky and as for cutting your arrow remember that the shorter the arrow the heavier the spine so you will just have to tune till you find what works for your gear. Best of luck this year and welcome to the Trad Side...

I have found the ones I made in aluminum are $30 an arrow but the odd plastic fletching with nock was not what I wanted as the fletching is so stiff but work as a lesser practice arrow. The Arrow however I have found the Sharrow/Musen prebuilt 30--31 inch aluminum arrow a 500/1916 is $23--$27 for 6 for the bow I draw at my 24--24.5 inch draw to 35 pounds with other one needing lighter due to bow being all fiberglass duel sided bow that is not getting as fast of speed as a recurve in an all fiberglass model of the same draw weight. The Cupid 450 spine aluminum 31 inch arrows are for my soon to have (still being made) eventual hunting bow of red shaft and fletching with 450 spine or roughly a 2016 for my bow I will be drawing 45 pounds at my 24--24.5 inch draw will be used on that bow since the arrow is better suited as my latest bow with the weight being about 12 grains per pound, trying to stay under that with my arrows as heavier for me is not what I want in an arrow for hunting.

However stay away from some of the cheaper mixed carbon arrows that Sharrow and others sell cheap as those are crap often a nylon carbon fiber/mixed nylon carbon fiber and real carbon fiber that for 95% are not durable at all, only good for kid's under 12 beginner arrows where the heavy often 30--31 inch arrow is best used since they can get the arrow to work. Composite is okay if you know the arrow has a pure hollow fiberglass core that is not mixed or an aluminum core of 7072 at least.
Similar rules for the Aluminum stay away from brands that say pure Aluminum arrow/sketchy knockoff of an OEM or do not say at least 7072 or better to find 7075/7076 on the arrow material in the description and read the reviews for the good arrows.
Then skip the Fiberglass as they are either sold kids version/ crappy beginner target model with blunt tip or a special longer arrow with screw in insert installed and have a hollow core that have me worried even if they are the right spine as they look like a cheap nylon compressed fiberglass/nylon carbon fiber outer wrap on them.
