    "Doesn't always give a positive result" - comedy gold Ash! As a married chap I know that therein lies a multitude of tales.... My own spouse's reactions to the colognes I wear range from "you smell like an old lady" (Grey Flannel) to a horrified and accusatory silence (Quorum)... It's the reason I keep buying new ones. I'm not interested in compliments from anyone else but my wife because she never gives them! Joking aside, as a gent living on a shoe string - very much appreciate the reviews you give of affordable fragrances - salute!

      My wife loooves Agua Brava on me. It’s very inexpensive too. It’s different from what anyone else you know is wearing. It has some culinary herb and forest vibes. Very fresh and inoffensive

    Ash, i still occassionaly use 007 circa AD 1976. Just my style. I don't recommend this to any one else, but it's my goofy way.

    Great review Ash! I find it especially interesting that while cool water and GIT share much of the same DNA, one is marketed as ‘the king of spring’, while the other is perhaps the quintessential ‘blue’ summer beach fragrance. Such is the power of advertising in our collective consciousness. Keep up these affordable scent reviews! Lalique’s encore noir could be another fantastic edition!

    Hello Ash, this one was interesting.
    My wife gave me a bottle for Christmas. Never used it before as I tend to go for the Sandalwood, Vanilla style colognes, rather than the lemony fresh type. But as you say, pack those away for a while, this is summer in a bottle and just right. Start the day closely shaved with a fresh white linen shirt and it just sets things off for me.

    What a great review! As you said, Cool Water is an easy-to-wear fragance which will please nearly everyone. Being myself an hispanic chap, I would suggest you to try during the summertime the classic Carolina Herrera For Men eau de toilette and Álvarez Gómez Barbería eau de parfum. Both are light, citric and very summery fragances.

    Great review. I have been considering getting this fragrance from Amazon in the USA. It's very affordable. I got Tres Nuit recently that is supposed to be very similar and is also very affordable. To be honest though I am considering just springing for the Green Irish Tweed and calling it good!

      GIT is still the most unique of the fragrances we have mentioned, I think it is a little for 'sharp', which gives it the edge. But at £265 it is such a huge cost for a scent. That equates to a nice blazer in my book. But if you have that sort of loose cash - go for it!!

    Hello Ash.
    Davidoff Cool water will be on my shopping list.
    I have to say I enjoy your talks about the History of so many things you've brought up.
    A suggestion for you. I have tried a number of Molton Brown fragrances & shower gels. One fragrance in particular called Labdammun Dusk.
    I hope my spelling was correct.
    I've found Molton Brown items appealing. The staff in there stand alone shops are excellent. No hard selling, & very knowledgeable.
    Something different & I've been given free Testers.

    I very much enjoy cool water and it's one I keep in my collection. In fact you could say that colognes is a bit of an obsession as I must have over 50 bottles of various fragrances. Anything from CK One to a range of Tom Ford or Creed fragrances. Cool Water is still one of my go to summer fragrances though!
    If you have tried it Ash, my favourite fragrance is Tom Ford Sole Di Positano. It's a wonderful fresh scent that I think you'll like 👍🏻

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suffer the same affliction, although I do limit myself to cheaper colognes than the big hitters of Tom Ford and Creed. But it is a bit of sport to find a really great fragrance for a modest price.

    • @chrisbuer7980
      @chrisbuer7980 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheChapsGuide oh I completely agree. Given the number I have, buying a Tom Ford tends to last me a very long time. I have also had a lot of success with Copycat fragrances. Very cheap and seem to very remarkably close to the real thing. Then throw in some fragrance like Cool Water and CK One and it's a nice blend of cheaper and more high end fragrances...but all that smell good!

    My wife's favourite (for me to wear !). And I agree about the Creed fragrance. - very little difference (except for the remortgage required to smell of Green Irish Tweed).
    Just a quick question if I may, Ash - the music? I think I've heard it on the Tring Cobbler's channel too.

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do enjoy a bit of blending from time to time, usually only summer fragrances, as I find the richer 'winter' scents become somewhat sickly when mixed. Cool Water is a excellent 'blender' as it is some easily combined with somewhat stronger scents.

    I don't get summer from this whatsoever- this is quintessential spring; mint rosemary herbs slight sweetness for the crisp spring. There's absolutely ZERO citrus used in this. Summer is for the citrus gems. It doesn't even smell aquatic; it smells like an indoor hotel pool. No ocean vibes. No salt. Cool indoor pool water swimming in minty rosemary. Very unique. At least the vintage cursive was - wouldn't bother with modern day.
