Great video thanks Ash. Quorum and Aramis Tuscany were my best blind buys. Cheap but have now become my daily drivers. Amazing fragrances and Quorum was a blind buy after your video.
I have a drawer full of tiny sample bottles! I found a reliable source on Ebay and pay about £3 for a sample before buying anything. Unfortunately for me, I really like the Oud fragrances and have yet to find a good affordable equivalent Thanks for the video info!
I agree about not blind buying. I’m guilty of it though. I try to look up notes first and found out that if they include powdery or soft spicy accords then they usually remind my wife of her dad’s colognes. Quorum silver was a regretted blind buy, Exclusif Tabac was too, but Agua Brava was an absolute win. I spent around 16 bucks and am in love with it!
Hello Ash.Your channel is absolutely great .Thanks for every single video you've made taking about shaving ,fragrances and chap's style.Love it! I recently purchased Quorum Silver and it's a lovely woody scent, so different to the original Quorum. To be honest I don't believe most of reviewers on youTube anymore, they seems to be even sponsored by the brands I guess, and i am bored of top 10 top 15... thats why I admire Your honest opinions about cheaper options and fragrances that are sometimes hidden gems and cheaper priced .Your channel is my discovery of 2020.Best regards
Glad you are enjoying the content, I enjoy making it as well and it really helps me broaden my views on these topics through exposure. In fact, Quoram Silver is just about my favourite fragrance find of the year so far and I have filmed an in-depth appraisal video on it, which will by my Wednesday upload this coming week. Hope to keep you entertained and informed in 2021. Ash
@@TheChapsGuide looking forward for Quorum Silver review.i got Mandate ,just unwrapped the box sprayed it on my wrist ,and wow what a great smell, spot on the classic scent from 80's,and it reminds me of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme which is a truly masterpiece from that era when men was wearing a manly fragrance.Mandate is a awesome !thanks for recommendation.Lukas
Salute to you; Ash, you are a leader in the field of styling. Since day one, you have given me a new perspective on the clothes I love. And it's not going to stop. I typically use Molecule 1 in the summer months and Polo Green I reserve for autumn and winter. Any thoughts or comments in this regard are welcomed.
Delighted to hear that my videos have been useful for you sir. I love Polo Green, but I am not familiar with Molecule 1. Time to get the Polo out in time for autumn.
I've smoked tobacco with tonka bean essence in it before and for the life of me I can't tell you what was distinctive about it. All I know is I liked that tobacco. I presume fragrances are the same. I've heard Bing Crosby smoked tobacco with that essence but to me it was just nice tobacco
You make very succinct and salient points sir.. One point I would make (as a fragrance collector of 35 scents) is only wear scents for yourself and not for other people.. I don’t care if people like my scent choice, however I abide by the unwritten rules that you must respect those around you. I have too many scents and am whittling down to around 20 scents that will serve to satisfy me both as a collector and as a chap.. I would also add that although 100ml bottles are better value for money I prefer now to go for 30-50ml as this maintains my Interest in the scent and I don’t get bored with it and it also means that if you have a lot of scents it has less chance of going off, this especially true with fresh citrus scents.. Best to you sir
You make an excellent point with regards to purchasing smaller bottles. I have rarely ever finished a bottle before becoming disenchanted and moving on. I have gifted so many of my half-used bottles to friends and family over the years. I will ceraintly think about the smaller option going forwards.
To many of the modern fragrances are stunning stink pretty’s with a gorgeous top note and nothing of substance underneath . I just want fragrances you aren’t bored with after three days .
Another great video, thank you Ash. I really liked what you said about Tabac, when I grew up in the 60's all "grown ups" in Sweden used to wear Tabac, I liked the smell then because it smelled like dad, oncle or grand dad. Today I just love Tabac. Unfortunately, my wife hates the smell of Tabac. I love Tabac Shave Soap and Tabac After Shave, and the two together make me smell like Tabac for almost 24 hours. And Tabac Shave Soap is one of the very best Shave Soaps in terms of performance, and fragrance.
@@TheChapsGuide Btw Ash, did you get the chance to try out Razorock Puros shave soap and after shave? Some of the best tobacco scented shaving products ever ;)
You are right about the brand hype. I do own expensive ones and also super flankers that I use, daily in spring/summer Tres noir, Club d’nuit intense. I can recommend the Encre Noir line from Lalique, it’s great value for money. I wear the original Encre Noir (dark Vetiver) this time of year. Other autum/vinter scent, Bentley intense and Jaipur from Boucheron both very high-end fragrances for a fraction compared to the Quality. I will definitely try the Ourum silver out, thank you 🙏🏻
GG is my father's favourite - I got him a bottle for Christmas and I love it also. Not troed essenza yet, but I have bottles of Intensa and colonia, such classics.
Hi Ash - have you tried any scents from Czech & Speake? Ordered several testers from them and there are a couple I quite like. Their famous 88 wasn’t for me though. It’s way too floral and has that sharp perfume quality that feels very feminine to me despite this being marketed as a sophisticated gentleman’s scent
Good video Ash! 🙂👍 I think I agree with you on the whole lot you listed. Another good point to mention, I think, is to let someone of your close ones get a sniff of the fragrance on you before you buy it. I was thinking of buying a certain expensive perfume after trying a sample. Though it was fab but then girlfriend smelled it on me and she went "yuck!" . On tester strip she found it lovley, on me not.
Hey ash great content idea as I'm also a fraghead with large fragrance collection mainly on designer side with some niche brands .. would be so nice if you can do a video about your top 10 or 5 most favourite mens fragrance would be so great. 👍❤👌👌🔥🔥
Whilst I never set out to offend - I firmly believe that even gentlemen can indulge in a sense of humour from time-to-time. I apologise if you have been personally aggrieved by the little joke in the video, I assure you the intention was to invoke a chuckle and nothing else.
No one can see the brand and the bottle when you walk into a room. It's the smell that counts. Well said.
Its all about the nose - absolutely!!
The best video in fragrances I’ve ever seen, and as we know their is a ton of them. Well done, Lad!
Thanks Big Pretty - I appreciate the comment.
Fabulous advice. And, as a man of a certain age, I am weary of 24 year olds hyping fragrances. You must be, what, 30, 35? Good show!
Indeed I am 35 sir (+16)

Still waiting for the fragrance list divided by seasons and daytime/evening. This was very useful and informative. Cheers.
Coming in the future for sure - just a lot going on at the moment.
I just ordered it from US Amazon. 3.4 ounces for $18. Here in two days.
You do need the self-confidence. Well said.

those sort of parties? We need a chaps guide to .... haha
That period of my life is best forgotten
Givenchy gentleman cologne and acqua di Parma 'essenza' are two frags I think you would love...👌

I could certainly have included that point. Everyone's skin is different and fragrance will be a different experience for each user. Great point sir.

Excellent advice Ash, Thank you, Keep up the great work.
My pleasure!
Very well said pal 👍
Many thanks
Just subbed. I’m a fragrance collector and really enjoyed the video.
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice videos!
Always interesting. What about British Sterling? I don't believe I have ever smelled it. Your thoughts? Cheers Ron
I've heard of it but never been exposed - yet!
Zeitgeist is a english word now?
Any advice for a single gentleman with no sense of smell?
Chanel Bleu.
What sort of parties were you going to in the 80s and 90s?
Just add alcohol and all will be well!!
Lmao about the key party reference
Not everyone gets it
@@TheChapsGuide Been there, done that
The nose knows. 😀
Never a truer word said about fragrance.
Where are my car keys?!? 😂
The thing of nightmares!!
Maybe you can dab yourself with some drops of expensive old whiskey. Smells good and is ethanol after all. Little joke on the side.
I frequently have the scent of whiskey in my draft. Its a classic!!
Fat-shaming! REALLY?? NOT very Chap at all.
